The Social Construction of Salangdan in Alfred Schut’z Phenomenology of the Social World Jiolito L. Benitez jollylbenitez@yahoo.com Cebu Normal University Philippines 4:21 – 4:50 August 18 – Ballroom A The purpose of this paper is to talk about a unique cultural practice known by its local name, salangdan, and to consider it within the context of Alfred Schutz’s view of social reality. Salangdan is a local generic term which signifies the various unique ways by which friends address and greet each other in their everyday life interface, and according to which they interpret their friendship. As a common sense thought construct, salangdan is grounded on the lebenswelt (life-world) which Schutz considered as the paramount social reality. The life-world or the common-sense world is a grand arena of social action to which can be traced the origin of all social relationships. Schutz posited the ‘we-relationship,’ the very plane on which salangdan occurs, as a necessary condition toward a genuine intersubjective understanding in the face-toface situation.
Economics in the Pre-school: A Way to Prolong the Existence of Lives on Earth Evelyn R. It shows the advantages of the integration and the entry points on how Economics could be used to attain environmental conservation, sustainable economic development and to prolong the existence of lives on earth. Secondary data were used in the study. The results show that integration of economics in the curricula is the main avenue through which man’s existence on earth could be prolonged, the reason for sustainable economic development through biodiversity conservation.
