Lubos dawsonia@yahoo.com Liceo de Cagayan University Philippines 7:21 – 7:40 August 17 – Molave Hall This study sought to achieve the following objectives: (1) identify and classify the species of Family Fissidentaceae and (2) determine the distribution and conservation status of such species in the selected mountains in Mindanao. The survey of Family Fissidentaceae species was conducted in the selected sites within the four provinces of Mindanao: Province of Camiguin - Mt. Timpoong, Mt. Hibok-Hibok, Binangawan Waterfalls, Katibawasan Falls, Ardent Hotspring, Tuasan Falls; Province of Misamis Oriental - Mt. Sumagaya; Province of Bukidnon - Mt. Kalatungan; and Province of South Cotabato - Mt. Matutum. These areas were selected because of their accessibility and no systematic studies on Family Fissidentaceae in these areas have been conducted yet. Field collections were made using alpha taxonomy method. The specimens were collected 10 meters away from each side of the trail, from base to the upper portion of the mountains. The study has established a new record: 6 species grow in the different mountains in Mindanao and 4 of these species are newly found in Mindanao. The 6 species found in Mindanao account for 17 % of the 35 species of in the Philippines.
