A Philosophy of Man from Man Alex Y. Tiempo rokgel@yahoo.com Cebu Normal University Philippines 10:56 – 11:15August 20 – Ballroom B There are many interpretations concerning the nature of man. An Old Testament passage from the Book of Psalms reads: “What is man that thou art mindful of him?” This question, though springing from Sacred Scriptures, is not simply a religious query uttered by a devout follower of God’s commandments, but one that is highly philosophical. When one asks, his main intention is not just to seek an answer to the question, but to propose as well some meaning that is hidden behind the language used. In the words of the German philosopher Hans Georg Gadamer, “The essence of the question is to open up possibilities and keep them open.” Understandably, the original purpose of the one asking the question is to know the importance of man’s life – that is, to find out the reason why God created him in the first place. Yet other than the creatorcreature relationship that is self-evident in the passage, there is some theory that transcends the JudaeoChristian terminology: the basic truth about the nature of man. Just what exactly is this theory appears to us more as a puzzle to solve than a ready solution, to use another biblical passage, “delivered on a silver platter.

Two have attended a National /Regional training and eleven have attended local in-service trainings on Basic Computer Operations and five have no training so far. The respondents are described as proficient. Among the four knowledge of applications, the competency for basic computer operations, use of productivity tools, knowledge in hardware and network maintenance and use of ICT technology for professional practice is average.
