DRIVE: A shot that comes after the whiff & before the Mulligan.

It was spring break and time for us to break out the camping and fishing gear. This year Danny, his son, my boys and I went to North Georgia. We had planned this trip for months and planned on going up for and staying for the whole week of spring break. We had checked out the weather a few days before it was time to leave and the forecast was cold with a slight chance of snow. That didn’t break our spirit at all; we just prepared for the weather and went. We started our journey that Monday morning. It was already cold at home and I was thinking to myself that it was really going to be cold up in those mountains. When we finally made it up to the entrance to the National Forest we had a long 8 mile drive on a dirt road up through the mountains and it was already beginning to snow. We finally made it to the lake where we would be camping and it was beautiful. The snow was falling gently around the cold clear water adding to the beauty. Our journey wasn’t over yet though. We unpacked on the shore line and had to paddle everything across the lake on our canoes to get to our official home away from away aka….the campsite. The snow storm got worse as the day went on and it just got colder and colder. We had a big fire going and had the tents set up. We found ourselves in a somewhat survival situation. What assured our survival in this snow storm was; shelter, fire, water, and the food we had with us. The next day woke up to a winter wonder land. I was sure that we were going to be snowed in for awhile but we were fine because we had assured our survival because we had prepared by bringing what was necessary to stay warm, dry and fed. It wasn’t a very comfortable situation but we survived it. What are some assurances you have for your spiritual survival when the storms of life are bad?
