Saludos!

It’s a great time a year – I love the beginning of a new year because it’s cool in the AM, warm during the day, chili in the evening! Yipppppeeeeee! This issue represents the 14th year of publishing Latin Times Magazine….. Originally C.L.U.B., which stood for City of Latin Urban Beats! It seems 14 Years is a long time huh, pero I can assure you that even after 14 years in business, and as a community leader, I am continually learning. As of January 2015, I am no longer serving as the president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay, after 7 years on the board, with the last four (4) of those years serving as the Chair/President of first the Tampa Latin Chamber, and then the “merged” Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, it is now time to focus on my business. It was a bitter sweet good-bye that I bid to the Hispanic Chamber, because I truly love serving my community, but I also felt a sense of pride in the accomplishments of that journey, pride in the knowledge that my efforts as Chair/President made a true difference to the union between the chambers –and to the growth of the united chamber. During my term as president, the Chamber acquired its own office in the Westshore business area of Tampa. I also had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful people and developing lasting friendships and business relationships. During that time, the Chambers membership grew in size by more than 100%, and we were able to present a great membership directory and website for members and visitors to visit and

utilize. The Hispanic Chamber monthly luncheons which were held on the last Tuesday of every month were held at the Columbia in Ybor City, and each luncheon successfully hosted over 50 guests and exciting speakers! I have really enjoyed being a community leader, mainly because I love being a part of helping Hispanic Businesses to succeed, I will miss being the president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay, but I am relieved at the new chapters opening up in my life and I am ready to give my business “Latin Times Media, Inc., Latin Times International Ministries, Inc., and the Cuban Sandwich Festival” my full attention –I think most of you can agree that these projects deserve it. I would like to congratulate the new president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Tampa Bay, Mrs. Ileana Martin, and the new Vice-President; Latin Times own Mr. Victor Padilla. 2015 ----it represents exciting and new, a new season or chapter, and I have welcomed it with open arms, my spirit has always been one of adventure, challenge and persistence, and I give God all the glory for the length, and success of my journey. As I mentioned before, it’s funny how after 14 years of running a business I often feel like I know so much, like I’ve learned so much, and yet almost weekly, I am confronted by a new challenging situations! I love challenges because they make me strive for more, for better, and what I have learned these last few years is that, I no longer look or focus upon the challenges of circumstances, but instead focus on the resolution, the goal, the outcome and the positive, the ability to do that comes from my FAITH in GOD! I am looking forward to my new adventures as we focus on expanding the magazine’s foot print on a national level, by offering a turn-key business opportunity, to individuals looking to start their own business, Magazine, website, newsletter, events, etc.! www.Latin-Times.com

I am also looking forward to being able to focus my attention on our Church Ministry as well, Latin Times International Ministries, Inc., of which we plan to start a reality Video Show soon! treated me like family since the first day and they have given me the passion to create a legacy in this town and to this today my heart continues with the needs and wants to help make Leticia a better place. Leticia is the biggest part of my life. Latin Times Media: What is your nick name and why do they call you that Jungle Mike: My nick name is JUNGLE MIKE, the reason is that I have been working in the jungles of Central and South America for over 40 years and once I settled in the Amazon in the early 50’s I became well known all over the USA and the world with my Anaconda fights and Eco Tourism in the Amazon region.

Mike Tsalickis shares his story with Latin Times Magazine. Latin Times Media: Tell us about your family. Jungle Mike: My father passed away in the mid 60’s and my mother passed away in the early 90’s. I have six beautiful children; 3 Sons and 3 Daughters, 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Unfortunately my wife passed away before I was able to come back home. Most of my life was committed to working 24/7 to be able to provide my family with what they wanted and deserved. Latin Times Media: Tell us about your relationship with Leticia, Colombia Jungle Mike: Leticia, Colombia is my second HOME. From the moment I stepped foot onto Leticia on August 1953, I felt a very special connection. The people there have

Latin Times Media: Tell us about your conviction on drug charges and the 27 years you spent in jail. Jungle Mike: Under unfortunate circumstances and wrongly accused, which one day and with plenty of time I can give you a very detailed account. I was convicted under the following four counts It was very traumatic and hard on me and my family because I was torn away from my life and my family’s life, in a matter of seconds. I was wrongly accused and convicted on the above charges and it’s very upsetting to see that our government can change the life of a family with a snap of a finger, just because they don’t receive the information they want and when they want it. The Extraordinary Personal Story of a Penniless, Cuban Immigrant, Turned Self-Made Business Mogul, Healthcare Industry Leader and Philanthropist

In HUMBLED BY THE JOURNEY: Life Lessons For My Family…And Yours (January 2015), from which the proceeds will go to The Early Childhood Initiative Foundation, Miguel "Mike" Benito Fernandez takes readers on parallel journeys: A 508-mile pilgrimage along El Camino de Santiago from France through Spain – and from a dirt road Cuban town to the pinnacles of U.S. business success. In 2013, Mike hiked along El Camino -- an ancient, spiritual trail that attracts "pilgrims" from around the world -- with a pledge for each mile that led to more than $5 million for a children's hospital. The experience was challenging and rigorous and provided Mike with a unique opportunity to embrace his life in a deep, meaningful way. HUMBLED BY THE JOURNEY is part self-portrait, part adventure story, and shuttles readers back and forth between Mike’s path on El Camino and his journey through life. In 1964, in the midst of revolutionary activity in Cuba, Mike’s family was expelled from their rural hometown without any warning or money and soon after made New York City home. Suddenly, they all were on a new trajectory of unforeseen challenges, opportunities and lessons. Mike lumbered through school, while working as a floor cleaner and delivery boy to help pay for tuition. During these years, Mike learned about values and principles from those around him, including his father and an extraordinary Jesuit priest. After a stint in the Army, Mike worked as a door-to door salesman, selling health insurance, and subsequently found his stride in business and success, against great odds. Since then, Mike has given more than $125

million to causes focused on health care, education and those most in need. He requires only this: Recipients must want to help themselves, be willing to sacrifice to gain a better future, and promise to pay it forward when they can. Filled with engaging stories and beautiful photographs, HUMBLED BY THE JOURNEY is more than a rags-to-riches tale; it is a celebration of family, an appreciation of the brief encounters, fleeting moments and memorable events that irrevocably changed a man’s life. Latin Times Media: Tell us about where you are from, and where/how you grew up? Mike: I grew up in the small town of Manzanillo, Cuba until age 12. On Christmas Eve 1964 my family was escorted to small plane and dropped off in Mexico, City. My parents had no passports, no id, no documentation or money. We lived in Mexico for six months then moved to NYC. In 1972, I joined the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1975.

er and CEO of over a dozen companies, I moved to the investor world by making control investments in multiple companies. Our companies have been built to be “best in breed” and have all been acquired by publicly traded companies. Some of our companies have been; CBAI, Physicians Healthcare Plans, Atlantic Dental, Hospitalist of America. Medical Specialty Distributors, Navarro Pharmacy Discounts, Simply Healthcare Plans, etc. Latin Times Media: Who has been your biggest inspiration in life (living or dead) – and why? Mike: My inspiration have been primarily my parents, Mario and Lieba Fernandez. As young parents, they protected my sister and me from a government controlled life and encourage us to love and appreciate democracy and to do well for others. Latin Times Magazine: Tell us about “Oscar Torre” and about your Familia? Oscar Torre: I was born and raised in Miami, Florida both my brother and I. My parents came from Cuba at the beginning of the sixties before the revolution, my whole family is there, I live in California but I miss Miami. Latin Times Magazine: What inspired you to be an actor? Oscar Torre: I kind of fell into it, I was taking an elective class at Miami Dade Community College and I asked my girlfriend at the time to sign me up for a class so since the one I wanted wasn’t available, as a joke she signed me up for an acting class and because of that decision I am an actor today. Latin Times Magazine: Tell us about any struggles you have had being a Latino Actor. Oscar Torre: The Struggles that I have faced are the struggles any actor faces, I have been casted in white roles but most of the time they would make the role Latino, but when I went to LA, California I struggled, took me six years until finally I got the role in “Ladron roba Ladron” and then I booked “CANE” with Jimmy Smits and Rita Moreno, I went from zero to sixty in a month and a lot of doors opened for me. Latin Times Magazine: Hola Oscar, tell us about the movie “The Boatman” and any other projects you are working on. Oscar Torre: The Boatman which is Directed by Greg Morgan is a paranormal thriller where I play the lead role as Miguel who is the coyote who has the perfect record of helping people across the river successfully and being an honest man without being caught, but on the road I keep running into people dying and they give me their last dying wishes and I relay that information to their families, Then I find a young woman who actually survives and claims that she knows me

Oscar Torre: I eat well and there a lot of Latin Foods I like, but if I have to say one, when I go to Miami I will have Arroz Blanco with Frijoles negros and Plantanos maduros with Tostones or Lechon and Fritas. In California you find a lot of Mexican food but in Miami you fall and land in a Cuban restaurant. Yes I definitely like Cuban Sandwiches. Latin Times Magazine: What kind of advice do you have for young Latinos trying to make it in the acting industry? Oscar Torre: First of all if they really want to be Actors and Directors, having the passion, work on your craft, prepare yourself. Because of technology today you can shoot your own films, DON’T WAIT, create your own opportunities, write your own projects, write your own stories, this gives more work for Latinos and learn from those who you admire that have been on the screen for a long time.

and changes my whole life, not only that but there is the pressure from the Narcos to giving them my secrets and routes, it’s about life and death and crossing the river. Then there is a feature film I directed written by my wife, actress Chuti Tiu in which she stars, called “Pretty Rosebud” and I play a small part in. It’s a story about a women who is unhappy in her marriage, forced by her religion, family, and culture to live her life by their rules but she is not listening to her own heart. People love this film and it has already won awards.

Latin Times Magazine: Who in your life has been your greatest Inspiration and hero? Oscar Torre: My Grandmother and my parents, they are my heroes, they came onto this country without any money, they weren’t wealthy, but did their best to raise me and my brother who is a school teacher. They taught me to be responsible and do the right thing, to be proud of who I am and it has been invaluable to me.

Florida’s Latino Business Leaders

Latin Times: Tell us about how you are able to help business and community leaders with your business services? Pilar Ortiz: For us at Pilar Ortiz Enterprises it is about connecting, empowering and building confidence. We are able to help with: Media Training with programs where I share knowledge from a 20 plus-year journalistic career to executives and leaders and help them deliver a precise, effective and engaging message. SheistheVideoPro.com VIP Coaching: I work one on one with entrepreneurs, CEO's and corporate leaders who want to speak better, look confident on camera and deliver a powerful and clear message. Our exclusive program gets results. PilarOrtiz.com Keynote Speeches: I connect with the audience to deliver my motivational speech and Bridging the Gap: Connecting with Hispanics. If you know a Hispanic, work with some or would like to start a business relationship with them consider this talk as an opportunity to understand how they think, how they feel and how they make decisions. PilarOrtiz.com Latin Times: Tell us about your 3 Biggest Career challenges, and how you overcame them, explain how those challenges helped to shape you into who you are today. Pilar Ortiz: 1. No longer Colombian, you are now con-

sidered a Hispanic. We all became Hispanics when we moved to the USA. Adapting to a new culture, learning a new language and learning how to inform a new market was an interesting challenge. Hispanics that live in Latin America and Hispanics that live in the U.S. have differences. These differences make the communication a key factor when understanding the market. I am a proud Colombian by birth. I am a proud Hispanic by heritage. I am a proud American by choice.

your mind with the undeniable truth that anything you set to achieve is possible. We’ll find page after page of inspiring stories, of real people who don't give up and succeed where others fail. I would recommend this book to anybody facing a challenge, a struggle, or a sudden change in plans, or simply want to improve your self-image by losing those pesky 5-10 extra pounds. Every goal or struggle is a journey! The book is available in Amazon or in my website PilarOrtiz.com

2. Bridging the gap. I had to learn from these differences and at the same time become a bridge between two cultures when I had the responsibility of providing information to the local community. I learned English at 30 years old; I had to start from zero when I decided to become an entrepreneur and after being laid off after the 2008 recession. I always see a challenge as an opportunity and now I love to be able to inspire others to do the same. Men and women, executives and leaders, at all levels want to be successful, confident and authentic.

Latin Times: We are excited that this year, you are a VIP/Celebrity Judge at the 4th Annual Cuban Sandwich Festival, which will take place on Sunday, March 22nd, 2015 in Ybor City, Florida ---- Where do you usually enjoy a Good Tampa Cuban at? Pilar Ortiz: I am very happy to be one of them and to be able to try so many different and I am sure delicious recipes. My favorite Cuban sandwich is lightly toasted and with melted-melted cheese. Speaking about the Cuban sandwich reminds me about my acceptance speech when I was honored as the Tampa Hispanic Woman of the Year 2014 last October, when I said, speaking about bridging the gap, that as a Colombian when I first came to this country to live in Tampa (where I became a Hispanic) I did not even know that Cubans had their own sandwich…haha! But believe me, now I know how delicious they are! I love trying different foods and learning about the beautiful Latin American cultures. ¡Gracias por esta hermosa oportunidad!

3. Overcoming obstacles. During challenging times, you learn to overcome fears, trust in your faith and work for your passion. I also had to face challenges: from fear of speaking in public years ago, to covering all type of news, in 1993, I was one of the first reporters sent to cover live for a TV station the death of the world known drug dealer Pablo Escobar. I had to overcome fears, doubts and internal voices. Does it sound familiar? I know am an expert that shares tips and techniques to others. When you have a burning desire to do something, you can be sure you can do it. Life is amazing and if we are willing to takes risks, we will succeed! It is up to you to take the first step and I will help you along the way. Latin Times: Tell us about your book, and who should read it? Pilar Ortiz: Everyone that has seen themselves in a hard situation and wants to be inspired. The book is filled with personal anecdotes, compelling stories and powerful teachings in life. It is conversational, interesting and you will find it easy to read. “Camino al Éxito, todos arrancamos aquí” is the version in Spanish and “Reinventing Yourself, Creating your own path to success” is the one in English these are stories and reflections that aim to inspire and set

Latin Times: Tell us about your professional journey, when did you first get started in business? Martha Viveros: I started real estate when I bought my first property at 19. Enjoyed the process so I interned and later started working for Coldwell banker as a receptionist to a few months later getting my real estate license. I did very well at a young age; at 21 I grossed 120,000! I did so well my husband and partner at the time decided to join me. We opened our own brokerage firm V & V Real Estate. We expanded; grew rapidly survived the recession and managed close to 250 properties of investors and their real estate portfolios and grossed in its last year of boom close to 3.5 million in revenue gross. Latin Times: 2014 was a game changer year for you, you got divorced, closed the company you shared with your ex-husband, and started a new company, tell us about what were your biggest challenges of the year, and how did you deal with them? Martha Viveros: Wow… that will be a year never to forget. I think my biggest challenges were facing reality of closing down a business. Closing down a failing business after 8 years of hard work and reaching the top and making a shift of a long term marriage of 9 years and sharing together 12 years of our lives to being single was very rough on me. To be honest if it wasn’t for my family and close friends who supported me and God’s angels that came along the way I would not have survived. There were times all I did was cry and shut myself to the world. Growing up I went through many challenges however these were ones I never thought I would face in my life and wasn’t prepared to deal with them. Frankly at times when dealing with a failing business you don’t know what to do with each situation. I am very fortunate to say that my x husband/partner and I have a wonderful/ true friendship and actually collaborate together in many business transactions. We realized we cared for each other deeply

Latin Times: Tell us about your new venture, and company. Martha Viveros: MV Real Estate LLC is me coming back into retail Real Estate; just like when I started. I love it!! There is a passion and a drive for it. It’s totally me; from the office location to the alliances I have created it; to my new website; to my fan page; to its look and feel! It’s small we just opened but however we have many promising opportunities and of course my experience of the good and bad are slowly shaping it to a successful venture. We have a great following, a very unique website, and of course the support of many key important bay area leaders and previous clients. Latin Times: Tell us – who is La Diva, and how you have evolved from wife and partner, to a single Latina entrepreneur. Martha Viveros: La Diva- I invented her! She came actually out of a meeting I was invited to. I thought I should have never been invited to that meeting; however God has you in places for specific reasons. They teach in marketing that you must have a brand and she is my brand. She is the Latina real estate cartoon that is a fashionista, loves her Golden Retriever- Louis Vuitton, her business, and she has a quirkiness and funny side to her; she is not ashamed of being a goofball. I think people embrace and relate to her in many ways. She has a warm smile and that is said to be something that people compliment in me or my signature trademark. She is down to earth and very smart too – why she wears her glasses. Lol. I have evolved from wife and partner to single Latina woman entrepreneur that lives and breathes her business but when tired yearns for the affection of her dog at home and just sitting at home in PJ’s and maybe cooking with her close friends. When looking for love I turn to my family outside of town in Orlando, NY, Seattle, and Cali Colombia. Yes I still believe in love and hope to one day find my soulmate and create a family. Evolving to a single woman has not been easy after such a long term relationship and marrying so young. To my young single girls out there listen to mom’s advice when dating. www.Latin-Times.com

Latin Times: Who is a hero/role model that you admire (Living or deceased) and why do you admire them? Martha Viveros: I say this time and time again. My hero is my mom and since little it has not changed. I think that is where I grab my courage to continue on with life. When you gain much and then lose all including your marriage; you think life is over. You want to just surrender to life. Not come out of the shell. When you see so much harm people do to you; their greed and maliciousness, envy, and jealousy you tend to forget the good of life. My mom went through many challenges. Growing up with her made me learn how she coped with them and still smiled and still grew up to earn a living for her two kids.

Latin Times: It’s been many years since Latin Times last interviewed you, Tell us about the changes that have taken place in your personal and professional journey. Jackie: Since my last interview with Latin Times, so much has transpired. I went from being TBHCC President to TLC President. I ran for State Representative, District 58 and lost (a blessing in disguise). I’ve learned not to be disappointed that sometimes losing is actually winning in the long run. God has a master plan for each of us and mine was not in politics like I had envisioned. I was being primed for the better part. My personal life took a toll as well. After a 14+ year marriage, I ended up divorcing the man I love, moving to San Antonio, TX for a year to later come back remarry him and living the happily ever after life again. I went thru one of the greatest hurts

It was the hardest challenge to see your son and daughter in law suffer thru the loss of their first born. Since then, they now have another angel they have been blessed with that is now a year and a half old. I am also, the proud mother of 3 boys and 3 step-daughters as well as a grandmother of 4 biological grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren. Latin Times: Tell us about your new venture, and company, what made you choose to venture on a new career typically reserved for men. Jackie: My dad was always in the construction industry, building most of Drew Park’s steel erected buildings, Little General and the first Taco Bell in the 70’s. After graduating, I pursued an accounting and paralegal career making the vast majority of my clients sub-contractors. When my dad was alive I strived to always make him proud and I owed it to my mom for the great education she sacrificed to provide me with. As I saw more and more the use of online tax software, I felt the need to reinvent myself. Again after having a construction background (building dialysis clinics in Texas and Florida in the 90’s) and a husband that owns a sinkhole remediation company, I decided to get my certified general contractors license. Not only did I accomplish the hardest task I’ve ever been www.Latin-Times.com

Latin Times: What can we expect to see from you in the coming years? Jackie: In the coming years I plan to leave a legacy behind for my kids to continue. I want to become an inspiration for anyone who gets frustrated when things do go their way. I would like to remind them that’s when they should give thanks. Give thanks because something much better than you could ever imagine awaits them. My struggle has been extremely difficult, it has not been at all easy. Many men have not been able to accomplish what I have. I’ve been degraded, insulted and I still pressed on and held my head high. A woman in a man’s world is pretty exciting. I never take no for an answer. I’m a true believer that where there’s a will, there’s a way. Latin Times: What advice can you offer someone going through a difficult time in their personal life, on overcome the emotion and focusing on reaching their goals? Jackie Rojas-Quinones: My advice to anyone going thru difficult times is to pick their battles and not sweat the small stuff. I surround myself within social media and in real life with people that are go-getters and very positive. I help others as much as I possibly can without ever seeking a reward or gain. I L I S T E N to others and lend an ear any time for tomorrow they may not be here and I want to feel I’ve done all I can do before my time comes. Scan QR Code to read more!

The Holy Place

No Longer a Slave to Fear By: Minister Victor Padilla

In my lifetime I have looked death in

the face, weathered many trials and tribulations, and many times in those situations I knew if it wasn’t for the hand of God, I would not be here at this moment. 1 John 4:18 says...” There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. When People are confronted with many different problems and situations that they cannot handle, it strikes Fear into their hearts, then it begins to control their lives forcing them to become SLAVES to Fear. I am here to tell you that Fear has no place in your heart, it is God who has that right to be in your heart through his Holy Spirit. God paid the price for that right earned through his son Jesus Christ. I often minister to people who are going through devastating situations like Cancer, Leukemia, or financial, some very devastating problems, and the very first thing I tell them is…” If you truly believe in God, give your life to him, and have Faith, then you must know that you are a child of God, you belong to him, and he is in control no matter what.” I then pray peace over them and speak LIFE into their situation.

be depressed, to be suicidal, to hate themselves, to be the complete opposite of what God intended them to be and sadly enough they are destroyed by it. When you’re a slave to fear you are being controlled by forces that are ungodly and its purpose is to take you down, do you want to know why? It’s because when you were born God had a purpose for your life and fear is one of the greatest tools that the enemy uses to destroy you.

comes, delivers, for you are no longer a slave to fear. Here are some scriptures to read and hold onto. Psalm 118:6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." My brothers and sisters stand tall for you are children of God, be blessed and remember, it is your faith that moves the hand of God.

You’re a child of God and being a child of God you have the authority to abolish fear in your life, stand and be delivered from being a slave to it. From this day forward no matter what situation you’re in, you can be assured that God is in control. I would like you to pray this prayer with me and let God take control of every situation in your life. Read and pray this prayer: “ Father God, I come to you in the name of your son Jesus Christ, Father God I ask that you take my life into your hands, take control at this moment of every situation in my life, my health, my body, my mind, my heart, all of me. I ask father God that you make me Your brother in Christ, whole, deliver me, I release myself Victor A. Padilla. completely into your hands, and I declare from this day forward I am completely free from fear. I am no longer a slave to fear, I am free in the mighty name of Jesus-Amen.” Don’t just say it once, say it often and you will know his perfect love that over-

When a person submits to fear, they are giving place to the enemy to control them, causing them to

National Latino Spotlights Latin Times: When did you know you wanted to be an actress? Lourdes Colon: I knew I wanted to be an actress the moment I saw “I Dream of Jeannie” I wanted to be on TV doing the same thing. I wanted to blink things into existence and watch people be amazed, but all caught on camera. Hahaha!

Latin Times: Tell us about your Family history where you come from? Lourdes Colon: I was born in Puerto Rico, but raised in Waukegan, a Chicago suburb. My mom and dad moved their when I was 1. I grew up with my mom, dad and my other 4 siblings.

Latin Times: Tell us about “Option C” and what it means to you? Lourdes Colon: Option C means you educate yourself on everything that is going on with your health. How the body works, what things help nourish the body and repairs the very thing you are having a problem with. Learn why it happened in the first place then avoid those things all together. Once you understand your intake on food and what it is doing to your body, you will then have the solutions to your problem, then you take actions and be responsible for your health. “I am what time, circumstance, history, have made of me, certainly, but I am also, much more than that. So are we all.” - James Baldwin REZZI (Brandon Philip Reyes), a sixteen-year-old rapper and songwriter from Toronto, Canada, knows something about tough times. As a child growing up in humble circumstances, he also struggled to express his thoughts and emotions. Music became his outlet, which would eventually free his compelling voice. As a songwriter and rapper, Rezzi boldly confronts what American novelist James Baldwin refers to as the given “time”, “circumstance” and “history”, which define us all. Ultimately, Rezzi’s poetic lyrics become a kind of anthem for a generation feeling disenfranchised from socio-economic advancement and the promise of privilege.

Latin Times: Are there any new projects you’re working on? Lourdes Colon: I am working on a film called “Crave: The Fast Life.” We shoot this coming January. I read the script and fell in love with the story and the characters in the film. So I knew I was on board. Latin Times: What advice do have for young Hispanic/Latinos today? Lourdes Colon: My advice is, Follow your dreams and your heart and don’t let anyone or anything take you from that. And while you are doing that don’t forget the very thing that is most important.. “You” so take care of that so you are able to achieve what it is you want to achieve. Care what you put in your body, because it will be the very thing that will save your life. Latin Times: Who has been your hero and inspiration in your life? Lourdes Colon: My mom. She did what she needed to do to raise us five kids, and made sure we had everything. She showed me Love and family. She showed me that no matter what you are going though, you just figure it out and when you do, you win.

Rezzi’s electrifying message is resonating with thousands of young people like himself across the United States and Canada. Most notably, his annual performances at Youth Day Toronto are the most anticipated for the audience of over 30,000. Rezzi's first single, Home of The Brave, featuring popular artist DZA is quickly gaining mainstream momentum. He is currently in the studio working on his debut mix-tape scheduled to release later this year. While comparisons have been made to fellow Canadian hip-hop artists who have influenced him such as Drake, K'naan and Kardinal Offishall, Rezzi’s voice is wholly unique to his time, circumstance and history. Besides, he is much more than that.
