Saludos my friends!

I hope and pray that you are all doing great! We are enjoying some much-needed time off from completing yet another successful year at the International Cuban Sandwich Festival. The 6th year was a complete and success, we made a 128 ft Cuban Sandwich in Orlando, Florida with the help of Kissimmee Mayor Jose Alvarez, or participating contestants, local leaders and our team; later at the International festival we were able to break that record by making a 150 ft Cuban Sandwich. Both sandwiches were donated to a homeless shelter to feed the homeless, feeding an estimated 800 people this year! This year, the festival hosted contestants from as far as Seoul, South Korea, the new Kids Cuban Sandwich Showdown. Lots of exciting highlights happened this year – far too many to list here so please check out our website: www.TheCubanSandwichFestival.com to view pictures, videos, etc! The 7th annual season of the Cuban Sandwich Festival is already underway and we are excited to announce that the festival will once again be hitting the road in search of the BEST Cuban Sandwiches in the world, with Florida events planned in Kissimmee, Miami and Tampa, Florida, as well as a VIP Cuban Sandwich Smackdown event under consideration in Chicago, NYC and a few other cities! Those winners would all join us here next March/April 2018 for the 7th Annual Cuban Sandwich Festival! As we welcome the SUMMER we get ready for all great Summer FUN! Latin Times presents a new look -we are more online friendly! As of this issue, we are 80% online, and 20% print. The best way to read our editions will be online where each issue will have interactive interviews, videos, live links, animation and so much more! The e-edition will be available via our website: www.LatinTimesMedia. com and www.Latin-Times.com as well as via social media The print editions will still be available for special events and for direct subscription! In closing, I am looking forward to the adventures and the challenges that lay ahead, as we focus on growing our ministry, our media business, and our event schedule, and introducing our NEWEST EVENTS, the Viva Jesus (Yeshua) and the Taste of Latino festival; details to be announced soon! She has recurred on The Red Road, guest starred in Colony, Jane the Virgin, NCIS, and NCIS: New Orleans, and has been the lead in multiple award winning films, making her a fan favorite in the film festival circuit. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Doris loves working with at-risk youth, victims of sex trafficking and animal rescue centers. When she's not on set, you can find Ms. Morgado training hard at a local boot camp gym to help tone and lean out her body for her upcoming lead role in an action film. Latin Times Magazine: Tell us about your Family history where you come from? Doris: I am of Cuban descent born in Venezuela, I was the first one born outside of Cuba. My grandfather was a well-known Doctor who helped a Guerrillero (Army who fought against Fidel Castro) who got injured fighting against Castro. When they found out he helped this Guerrillero, they accused him of being a CIA agent and he became a political prisoner sentenced to 30-40 years. But, he could leave when Castro released all the political prisoners during Mariella. My father, being a college professor was asked to leave Cuba because of his education. They all left and got political asylum in Venezuela. It wasn’t until I was of five-years-old, that we moved to Miami, Florida Latin Times Magazine: What inspired you to become an Actor? Doris: I wanted to be an actress since I can remember. It wasn’t until I got older, seeing something so magical about movies and shows like Marvel comics or Cartoons with a lot of fighting scenes. One time, when I was looking through my mom’s stuff I found my mother’s Illegal Alien card, so when I first saw the words “Illegal Alien”, I thought that meant being an actual alien. So, I even believed that I had superpowers like “Storm”. My brother and I made ID cards that said Legal Alien and we would show people our home made ID cards and say.. ”See, we are legal aliens” It was later that we realized “ OH that’s what it meant. Doris: I was working with a lady on set who worked with at risk youth, they would tell her that it made no sense to finish school, if they are going to turn out like their parents did, and young teenage girls wanting to get pregnant. So, it was my duty to talk to them and share my life story, showing them that hard work pays off, interviewing for jobs you think you’re not going to get. To get somewhere you should be patient and put in the time, you have to work at it, it was great to speak light and life into them. By telling them, if I could do it so can you!

Latin Times Magazine: Who is your favorite Marvel Character: Doris: My favorite was Storm, growing up we only had the choice of watching telenovelas or Cartoons. Karla Campos is a social media influencer and entrepreneur mom.

José Resendez here, still stuffed and filled with joy after judging the Miami Cuban Sandwich Smackdown at Calle Ocho 2017 in Little Havana! As a pop culture social media influencer and lifestyle blogger, I'm often invited to taste the latest culinary arts that South Florida has to offer, especially from celebrity chefs. However, in this case, the celebrity wasn't the chef, it was the Cuban sandwich itself, 12 of them to be exact. Every single sandwich was unique, some traditional and some non-traditional, yet all tying back to that authentic Cuban flavor of this popular bite. Needless to say, the more traditional and authentic it was, the more I liked it. Alongside the Mayor of Miami, I sat amongst other VIP judges, devouring every sandwich and putting my tastebuds to the test. Read More at:

Miriam Campos Galindo I am the CEO of Tiny Girl Fashion Enterprises. I am a social Media Influencer from New York City, which is where I began my passion for food and fashion. I manage the Miami Foodies and Fashionistas group on Facebook, due to the groups success and popularity I was interviewed by Facebook official twice and managed a TV cameo on CBS. I was honored to be a VIP judge at Cuban Sandwich Festival Calle Ocho and Tampa. As a Latino Influencer I really enjoyed seeing all the Latinos coming together and giving back to the community by building A 150 foot long sandwich that was then donated to a homeless shelter. I think that was a very symbolic and life changing thing for me. For many people a sandwich might just be a Sandwich but to a person that may be less fortunate it can mean hope for a better day. I look forward to next year! Read More at:

I think my favorite part of the Cuban Sandwich contest at this year’s Carnival in Miami was the mystery. Over 12 Different unique creations all competing for the crown. It was an epic 'game of thrones' style 'lucha' over lechón, jamón and mustard piled handhelds. And although there were two different categories of warriors (traditional vs. non-traditional) this local Miami-boy was swayed strongly by the winds of his authentic Santiaguero roots. Nothing like an original Cuban sandwich acompañado by a good influencer friend Miriam Campos Galindo and of course the Mayor of Miami Tomas Regalado! I was lucky and blessed to be part of this experience as many Cubans have been when they took the leap of faith to leave their homeland to come to America like my grandparents. But if there's one lesson I've learned over the years is that as long as you stick to your roots, put passion and love into everything you do, you will surely come out a winner! Gear up for outdoor cookouts and entertaining with celebrity tips that will prep you for get-togethers with your friends and family during the spring and summer months. Dania Ramirez is a Dominican-American television and film actress and mother of two, whose credits include the roles of Maya Herrera in Heroes, Alex in Entourage, and Blanca during the last season of The Sopranos on television. She loves to entertain guests outdoors and she’s discovered how to make it simple, fun and easyto-clean up so she can enjoy the meal and time with her guests, as much as they do! Here’s her star-studded advice: “When entertaining outdoors I like to keep it simple. I use cookware that can go straight from the oven to the table without disrupting the décor. Plus it makes cleaning up that much easier!” Durable and beautiful, the Princess Moderna™ Cook + Serve collection from Princess House can go from the refrigerator to over or microwave, then straight to the table – perfect for everyday use and special occasions. “I always love to have small versatile glass containers. They are easy enough to move around and allow me to have juice, iced tea or margaritas ready-to-go for any occasion on a moment’s notice.” From special occasions to quiet evening with friends, the Princess Heritage® Pitcher and Grande Glasses bring style to spring entertaining. According to a recent Harris Poll, 8 in 10 American adults watch cooking shows, and consumers and celebrities alike are trying out TV recipes to throw dinner parties that will wow their friends and families.

Deezer the world’s most diverse, dynamic and personal music streaming company announced the launch of a dedicated Reggaetón channel and grassroots program to further support, and provide a digital platform for, the rapidly-growing Latin music genre with a special focus on Reggaetón, one of the fastest growing music sub genres in the U.S. Not only will the new Reggaetón channel allow Deezer to support up-andcoming artists in the Latin genre through playlisting and original content, it will also provide a central platform for popular Latin artists to take their music to the next level in the industry. Deezer will also collaborate with Hispanic influencers and artists to produce playlists, videos, and other content to help promote Latin artists to a wider fanbase. “At Deezer, we’re committed to supporting emerging artists and fostering their talents and potential,” said Jorge Rincon, Vice President of Deezer North America. “Latin is one of our most popular genres and has major growth potential. As a strong advocate for localization and segmentation, we feel the new Reggaetón channel will become one of our most popular channels in the U.S, next to our already popular Musica Latina and Musica Mexicana channels. While Latin music has always had a presence in the U.S., its popularity has increased dramatically in recent years - in part due to the growth of the Hispanic population, which has more than doubled over the last decade. According to Nielsen, Hispanic culture is important to the growing Latino community; and Hispanic millennials, more so than any other group of millennials, have said culture and heritage influence the music to which they listen. This influence and cultural duality has contributed to the Latin genre’s most popular crossover artists - such as Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Daddy Yankee, and Pitbull - raising the ranks of mainstream pop and hip-hop. On Deezer in particular, Latin music has become incredibly popular with Mexican artists like Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga and Los Tigres del Norte and Latin Pop artists like Bruno Mars and Romeo Santos present on the Deezer USA Top 50 US charts. Deezer’s existing Mexican and Latin channels are also very popular. The Reggaetón Hits playlist is now the most popular Latin playlist on Deezer both globally and in the US.
