Tyler Ervine led Tech with a perfect 3-3 effort at the plate.

HIGHLIGHTS: Tech trailed 2-0 before plating six runs off three hits and two errors in the fifth to take the lead 6-2. Omar Ugarte earned the win after allowing a run off one hit in two innings of relief.

SV: Dudley (2). HIGHLIGHTS: Phil Maton threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 11 batters in the home opener. Maton allowed just two hits in 5.2 innings, while fanning 11 to tie his career-high for strikeouts.

HIGHLIGHTS: Ryan Gebhardt and Taylor Terrasas each were 1-for-3 on the day with a run batted in, while Taylor Burch, Jacob Derouen and Thomas Simoneaux recorded one hit apiece in the loss.

GAME 8: Stephen F. Austin 10, LA Tech 5 Feb. 27 • Jaycees Field • Nacogdoches, Texas Louisiana Tech 000 120 002 - 5 7 3 (2-6) Stephen F. Austin 111 402 10X - 10 14 1 (2-4) WP: Bishop (1-0). LP: Ugarte (1-1). HIGHLIGHTS: The Lumberjacks scored in six of eight innings in the win, while the Stephen F. Austin hitters recorded 14 hits, including three home runs. Sam Alvis led Tech with a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

HIGHLIGHTS: Maton struck out nine batters and did not allow a run for his second combined shutout of the season. Tyler Ervine led Tech with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate and three runs scored.

HIGHLIGHTS: Petersen struck out three and did not allow a walk in the start. Jacob Derouen, Kyle Arnsberg and Kody Neel all recorded a hit apiece for the Bulldogs, all of which were infield singles.

HIGHLIGHTS: Tech had a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning before McNeese State scored solo runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings before taking the lead off three runs scored in the sixth.

SV: Smith (3). HIGHLIGHTS: Tech could not overcome four errors committed leading to three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Colby Johnson reached base three times on a base hit and a pair of walks, with one run.

HIGHLIGHTS: Tech held a slim one-run lead entering the bottom of the ninth but could not survive a rally as Baylor’s Duncan Wendel hit a walk-off single to center to win it in the final inning.

HIGHLIGHTS: Maton earned his third win of the season after allowing four hits and no runs in seven innings of work. Maton struck out eight batters to bring his season total to 31 strikeouts.

SV: Alvis (1) HIGHLIGHTS: Tech jumped out to a 2-0 lead early after scoring two runs in the first inning off four consecutive singles to center field. Petersen earned his first win of the season after allowing one run.

SV: Vogt (3) HIGHLIGHTS: White highlighted the Bulldog offense after going a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI in game two of the doubleheader. Derouen put together a 2-for-4 day at the plate with a run scored in the loss.

HIGHLIGHTS: Rice starter John Simms threw a complete game and held the Bulldogs to two runs. Terrasas led with a 2-for-4 performance and an RBI, while Gebhardt added an RBI double in the eighth inning.

GAME 18: #19 Rice 7, LA Tech 5 March 13 • Reckling Park • Houston, Texas Louisiana Tech 003 000 020 - 5 9 1 (5-13) Rice 610 000 00X - 7 9 1 (11-7) WP: Fox (1-0). LP: Ugarte (1-2). SV: Stephens (1) HIGHLIGHTS: Rice scored six runs in the first inning for the early 6-0 lead over LA Tech. The inning was highlighted by an inside-the-park grand slam by Rice catcher Hunter Kopycinski.
