LANSING TWP. - The reasons why the Flap Jack Restaurant has been honored by Delta-Waverly Community News readers with the 2010 People’s Choice Award for the best breakfast in town are simple, according to host/server Yvette Hodgins: good food and fast, friendly service. “And your own coffeepot on your table that’s the clincher,” said Hodgins. Both Hodgins and night manager Alice Ellis agree that the new owner, Deania Buelle, has something to do with customer satisfaction, too. Buelle, who closed the restaurant for a month last fall, re-opened in December. “She rolls up her sleeves and gets into the kitchen,” said Ellis, “and she has our respect for that.” The extensive breakfast menu has something for everybody, from steak, ham or pork chops with eggs to breakfast pizzas and burritos. “One of the best sellers is the skillet breakfast,” said Hodgins, adding that “everything is made fresh.” The skillet has hash browns and ground sausage or bacon with melted cheese, two eggs and pancakes or toast. There’s also a mini-skillet for smaller appetites. True to the restaurant’s name, the menu has all kinds of flap jacks from the tiny sil-

Great Harvest is bakery choice from Delta readers By MARY JO WHITE

mjwhite@lsj.com

DELTA TWP. - Great Harvest Bread Co., the 2010 People’s Choice winner for best bakery by Delta-Waverly Community News readers, goes beyond the bread and rolls you’d expect to find. There are Pumpkin Ohs, for instance, large rolls that look like jelly rolls but are filled with cream cheese. Or you might want to take home the taco or chipotle dip mixes or the honey roasted cinnamon peanut butter with

flax and hemp seeds. If you’re thinking a whole meal, try the whole wheat pancake mix or the chili mix in a bag with kidney, cranberry and chili beans and cayenne pepper. Lunch sandwiches are available daily from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., too: turkey, ham, veggie or chicken salad on a variety of homemade breads. The biggest seller, though, is the cinnamon swirl bread, according to employee Drew Stoimenoff. “We make everything from scratch,” Stoimenoff said.“We (even) mill our

own flour.” Great Harvest is also known for handing you a free slice of bread while you’re taking the time to choose what you want to buy. There is a full selection of glutenfree breads, too, and quite a few items made without the ubiquitous high fructose corn syrup. Great Harvest is open Monday through Friday 6 a.m.- 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. Great Harvest Bread Co. is located at 6137 W. Saginaw in Delta.

DELTA TWP. - The people who staff the framing department at Hobby Lobby on West Saginaw have done it all and done it very well. That’s why their department was voted the 2010 “Best Framing and Matting “ local venue by Delta-Waverly Community News readers. They’ve framed posters, maps, oil paintings, portraits, you name it, both for individuals and for businesses. In fact, the human body diagrams on your doctor’s office wall may well have been framed by Hobby Lobby employees. “We do both ready-made and custom framing and average about 65 custom framings a month,” said employee Dave Perry. Hobby Lobby uses acid-free mats and offers a choice of three types of glass, all ultraviolet resistant. The department also specializes in shadow boxes that range from the very small to as large as 43” by 53”. These are shallow boxes with transparent fronts in which various items can be dis-

Grand Ledge’s Sun Theatre is readers’ favorite By ALAN MILLER alanmiller@lsj.com

GRAND LEDGE — Readers of the Grand Ledge Independent chose the Sun Theatre as their favorite place to see a movie. It does not always have the very latest films. Moviegoers will have to wait a couple of weeks, but that can be an advantage. While they wait, they can see if reviewers and word-of-mouth buzz say it’s worth seeing. It certainly is not the most expensive. At $2, viewers can and often do get in for pocket change. After the movie, with the money saved on admission, there is a choice of good restaurants without having to re-park the car. It is not big and impersonal. Most of the people going to the Sun Theater, a landmark at 316 S. Bridge St., will know many of the other people in the auditorium. And probably the owner of the theater will greet the

moviegoer and call her by her first name while taking tickets and selling popcorn. Local businessman Chuck Pantera purchased the theater “on a handshake in a bar” in 1989 to his wife’s great surprise. He ran it for 10 years, then sold the business to the Bennett family in 1999. Nine years later, in 2008, Pantera purchased it back — not because of the money he could make there, but because he has fun being in the theater business. Pantera was recently recognized by the Grand Ledge Education Foundation for his habit of opening the theater for school classes at cut-rate admissions. And during the summer, the Sun Theater is home to “movie camp” Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. with children’s movies at bargain prices. And that is why it is the 2010 People’s Choice. See what’s playing at www.grandledgesun.com or call 517-627-2346.

Funeral business is 24/7 family occupation By BARB MODRACK bmodrack@lsj.com

GRAND LEDGE — Some time during college, Tom Murray wondered if he might be suited for the funeral business. So he was introduced to local funeral home owner Leslie Peters and was hired as an apprentice. “This is a summer job I never left,” he said. It seems to be working out; that was in 1960. Tom is now 70 and and has been working in the around-theclock field of operating a funeral home ever since. He is semi-retired and the Peters and Murray Funeral Home at 301 E. Jefferson St. is now operated principally by his middle son, John, and daughter-in-law, Shelly. The home was named the 2010 People’s Choice for funeral homes by Grand Ledge Independent readers. For Tom, retirement is a relative term. He no longer lives in the apartment above the funeral parlor. That is where he and wife Phyllis raised their three

sons while operating the business downstairs. No, he’s moved away. All the way to the house directly across the street. The funeral business is traditionally a family business in every sense of the word. Because the Murray family lived upstairs during many years, there was no getting away from work. “I never clock out,” Tom said. He recalled a Christmas Day in which a bereaved family wanted to spend the holiday at the home with the deceased loved one. The Murrays were upstairs in their own quarters, having a holiday, and the bereaved were downstairs, with Tom checking in now and then to make sure all was well. But that’s just the way it was. “The business can get personal like that,” he said. And of course, funeral directors encounter family members during the worst moments of their lives. “You help people through things you wonder how they go through,” he said. And it’s not just the funeral. In addition to

the grief, directors help the family with all aspects of losing a loved one, such as navigating the Social Security paperwork. “You walk them through the whole process,” he said. The funeral business is often passed on to the next generation, though in Tom’s case he was able to take over from the Peters because the Peters children chose other careers. Of Tom’s children, John was the one who wanted to take it on, joining the business in 1984. It means a 24-7 commitment. Until recent technology changes, even a trip downtown to the drug store or out for coffee had complications because someone had to be in the building at all times to answer the phone. Now, cellphones and call forwarding give funeral directors a little more leeway. And John and Shelly “got smart,” Tom said, and don’t live upstairs. The home was originally established in 1922 by Mr. and Mrs. Russell Smith. The Smith Funeral Home was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Leslie R.

GRAND LEDGE — Chris Holmes was looking for a building to house his growing photography business when a realtor asked a fateful question. “She asked ‘have you ever considered a church?’” Well, duh! How perfect would that be? So in 2005 Holmes and his wife, Gay, purchased a former churchturned antique mall at 200 N. Bridge St., and began renovations for a studio as well as another business idea: a wedding chapel. “As a wedding photographer I had thought of having a wedding

for Photo Studio by Grand Ledge Independent readers. “The two businesses coordinate well,” he said. He can shoot a wedding; then later a family portrait; then later, baby pictures; and of course, senior pictures. Holmes, 49, is a former news photographer, serving as the chief photographer for the Lansing State Journal for many years. But he always had a side business of wedding and portraits and eventually decided to make that his full time occupation. “I always knew I would have a studio of my own and this was the perfect opportunity.” He and Gay live in Eagle where they raised their three children, Casie, Juli and Ryan. Casie now participates in the business, and Juli and Ryan have both helped out in the past. For information, call 517-627-4761 or visit www.Holmes Photography.biz.

chapel for a number of years,” Holmes said. It could be said: Once a church, always a church, though the building had not been a place of worship since some time in the 1960s. Much work was needed to restore the former First Congregational building, circa 1903, and make it what they wanted, but the bones were in place for a great wedding space, as well as plenty of room for photography. The old sanctuary is rich with wood, an organ and stained glass windows. The Holmes’ first wedding in the Bridge Street Wedding Chapel was held in 2006. Patrons can bring a minister or official of their choice to perform the ceremony, but Gay Holmes is ordained and can do the job herself. A lot of hard work has paid off for Holmes with a double distinction. He was named 2010 People’s Choice winner for photographer and Holmes Photography was chosen

Grand Ledge Chair Factory, or items made when the tile factors was running, are especially fast movers. “We don’t get a lot, and they sell out really fast.” Many of the items on display come from estate auctions, which lets Lamb spend time doing what she considers the most fun part of her job: shopping.

Optometrist has had eye on town since college By BARB MODRACK | bmodrack@lsj.com GRAND LEDGE — When optometrist Andrew Schmitzer purchased Grand Ledge Optometry three years ago, it had been a small, part-time practice. No more. “It’s been growing ever since,” said Schmitzer. Schmitzer had previously been working in an optometrist’s office in Dexter but had been looking for a place to open up his own practice. “It seemed like the right time to make the transition,” he said. The community has apparently welcomed Schmitzer as well. He was chosen by Grand Ledge Independent readers as the 2010 People’s Choice for eye doctors. His office at 11973 Sweetwater Drive, off Saginaw Highway, has a cheerful lobby with toys and books to occupy children, and a large selections of frames. “It’s very typical of a small-town practice,” he said. “We see a wide range of patients, and that’s what I like.” Schmitzer, a native of Frankenmuth, said he was encouraged to pursue optometry by his own optometrist. “He motivated me to get involved with eye care,” he said. And in high school he worked with a vet-

GRAND LEDGE — One-stop shopping may not be a typical banking term. But it serves as an apt description of Dart Bank and Mortgage Company, which was a double winner in the 2010 People’s Choice category of bank and mortgage company be Grand Ledge Independent readers. Lavengood In addition, Jon Grocki was the

winner in the investment broker category. “Dart Bank is different in the sense that we’re more of an old style community bank,” said Devin Lavengood, manager of Dart Bank of Grand Ledge. “Decisions are made locally based on the local market. And we will serve any banking need, instead of cashing your check in one place and getting your mortgage in another.” Established in Mason by the

Dart family, the bank celebrated its 85th anniversary this spring. Rollin Dart, son of the founder, is chairman emeritus. The Grand Ledge branch at 1020 Charlevoix Drive, east of Sophia’s Restaurant on Saginaw Street, has been open for five years. “Our big saying is: Every bank talks about customer service,” Lavengood said. “We invite people to stop in and experience the Dart difference.”

Scribbles and Giggles the favorite for day-care By CHRISTINE MEYER

For Lansing Community Newspapers

What’s more fun for a kid than scribbling and giggling? Well, those things can be even better when your child gets to do them in a great learning and playing environment such as Lansing’s Scribbles and Giggles Child Care Center. Loyal parents and readers of the Lansing City Community News voted to give the center a People’s Choice award for Best Child Care Provider. One of the reasons Scribbles and Giggles is so popular is its location, which is convenient to downtown and all of the state offices. The center occupies the former Verlinden Elementary School at 609 N. Verlinden Ave. in Lansing’s established and historic Westside neighborhood. The building has a large

gym and a spacious, fenced playground, including a separate fenced space for the younger kids. Inside, the child care center occupies 19,000 square feet on the main level of the school. Each room is about 800 square feet, compared to the average day care room which is about 400 square feet, according to Brynn Kelley, the center’s owner and director. All of the toilets and sinks in the school are kid-sized as well, Kelley adds. “With our larger rooms we can do more activities with the kids and they can explore more. It gives us more options in the classroom. And the gym is very useful on bad weather days,” she says. Kelley opened Scribbles and Giggles in 2007 with fewer than a dozen children. Before that she provided inhome day care and worked in two other child care centers.

More info For more information visit the website: ww.scribblesand giggles.com or visit the center.

She has a degree in early childhood education from Baker College. Enrollment at Scribbles and Giggles now stands at 100 kids, ranging in age from 2 weeks old to 12 years old. Kelley works with a staff of 22, most of whom are fulltime employees. Each classroom, including the infant’s room, has a lead teacher and assistants. A preschool is offered for children ages 3 to 5 years old. There’s also a summer camp for school-age kids Photograph by Christine Meyer that runs the entire summer and features arts and crafts, weekly field trips and plenty Each classroom at Scribbles and Giggles is equipped with separate boys and girls restrooms, along with a sink and drinking fountain of outdoor time.

For Steve Dean, it’s all about the lighting. “A lot of studios focus on one type of photography,” says Dean, owner of Steve Dean Photography. “I focus on understanding lighting. It’s the key to photography. If you do that, it doesn’t matter what you’re photographing.” Dean was voted Favorite Photographer in this year’s People’s Choice awards by readers of the Lansing City Community News. His studio is located at 1501 E. Grand River Ave. in Lansing.

Multi-faceted work

Dean does photograph a wide variety of products and people - everything from senior portraits to mater-

nity photos to commercial work for clients around the country. His website, www.stevedean.com, showcases his range of photographic work. “I really like having something different every day,” says Dean, who has been a professional photographer for 24 years. “It would drive me nuts to shoot the same thing every day.” Because his subjects vary so widely, Dean gets to meet all sorts of different people and he hopes, get to know them a little before he

starts shooting. “I don’t approach everyone as a formula,” he says. “I like to talk to people and look at the light on their faces and their expressions.” Dean has built a reputation as a photographer who listens to what the client wants, and who happily takes on “fun and outof-the-blue projects. That way I attract a more diverse and artistic clientele,” he says. “Whatever you bring in, you have a goal in mind, an image of what you want.

I’m trying to fulfill that and produce the highest quality image I can.” Some photographers shoot only a pre-set number of frames per assignment; but not Dean. “I keep going until I’m comfortable we have something great,” he says. Dean’s clients are scat-

Douglas J the best at making you look great By CHRISTINE MEYER

For Lansing Community Newspapers

It’s an institution in mid-Michigan whose reach seems to keep growing. But no matter where they go, the Douglas J Companies remain committed to excellent service that will leave you saying, “I look great!” every time you walk out of one of their salons. Readers of the Lansing City Community News must be getting that feeling because they voted the Douglas J day spa and salon Best Hair Salon in this year’s People’s Choice awards. The salon and day spa is located at 4663 Ardmore Ave. in Okemos. But there are also two Douglas J eXchange salons, one in East Lansing and one in Ann Arbor, plus five Douglas J Aveda institutes for teaching, including a new

school in Chicago. For a complete list of locations and services visit the Douglas J website at www.douglasj.com. Whether your hair is short or long, or you’re looking for a new cut, a new color, or a whole new style, there’s an expert for each at Douglas J.

Best of the best

“Everyone has their niche and the main thing they’re good at, so you’re getting the best of the best when you come in,” says Christina Minnis, marketing director. Today’s hairstylists are eager to build relationships with their customers and that creates a win-win situation for everyone, Minnis says. The client gets the cut and color that makes her shine, while the stylist gets to practice his craft and try out the latest techniques,

learned through continuous education. “We hope you will leave feeling great and wanting to come back again,” Minnis says.

Tips not allowed

Douglas J also is a no-tipping establishment, which further allows the customer to relax and enjoy the services, Minnis adds. Clients often are introduced to Douglas J through a visit to the day spa, which offers a full range of treatments from skin care, to massage to alternative body therapies. Minnis says more than 150 men and women work in the Okemos salon and spa to ensure the customer has an excellent experience. Some of the salon’s employees have been with the salon for decades, and so have many of their loyal clients.

Some folks are natural-born goers and doers, while others prefer to take a more cautious approach. Mary Schultz, owner of Let’s Go! Travel, definitely belongs in the first category. Schultz’s East Lansing-based travel agency centers on package tours, and once again has won Favorite Travel Agent in this year’s People’s Choice awards from the readers of the Lansing City Community Newspapers. Schultz says her proactive streak started early in her first career as an elementary school teacher in Lansing. She wanted her students to visit some of the wonderful places they were learning about in their books. Since most of the kids couldn’t afford to travel, Schultz worked tirelessly to organize fund-raisers so they could travel as a school group. “That started 33 years of every year we fund-raised the money and figured out where we’d go,” she remembers. Schultz’s students ended up visiting sites from the nation’s capital to the Grand Hotel, to Kentucky horse country and many others. Finally, after years of organizing trips for the students, her colleagues asked her to start planning trips for them, too. For about eight years Schulz continued

teaching full time while also getting her travel business up and running. “That drive to work and do things for people has always been there,” she says. Schultz’s work load became much more manageable when she teamed up with Diamond Tours of Fort Myers, Fla. Through them, she offers 15 motor coach tours each year March through December to destinations such as New York City, Cape Cod, Savannah, Ga., and Washington D.C. “I have a lot of teachers and parents and grandparents on these tours in the summer because it’s an easy way to take a child on a trip,” Schultz says. “They’re fully guided, and the ‘step-on’ guides they put on the buses (once you reach your destination) are wonderful. They take the microphone and really try to teach the people about what’s in their area.” Five years ago Schultz began a relationship with Collette Tours to offer overseas trips to Europe and Australia. She also likes to return to her roots in the business and offer her own motor coach trips to Tigers baseball games, the Detroit theaters and Chicago holiday shopping. Twice a year in the fall she plays host to her own travel show - one in Lansing and one in her native Saginaw. Let’s Go! makes the sandwich. Anyone can put ingredients inside, but the bread is important.” Cunningham uses that same philosophy with his Italian food offerings. “We have a variety of pasta dishes, including lasagna and manicotti,” said Cunningham. “Again, we use fresh ingredients to make our dishes just like homemade. But I am really pleased with the sauce that we use. I have a great recipe for the sauce and it is one that I kept experimenting with until I found the perfect sauce.” Along with oven-baked subs pasta dishes, The Red Tomato also offers pizza. The restaurant has also recently added chili dogs to its menu. “That is something that I noticed was not being offered in this area,” said Cunningham. “I developed 50 different recipes for the chili dog sauce until I came up with what I felt was the perfect sauce. The few customers that I have tasted the chili dogs so far say it is the best tasting sauce that they have ever had.” Chili dogs is not the only new item that

will be appearing on the menu of The Red Tomato. Cunningham plans to offer pizza by the slice as well as barbecued pork sandwiches. “With these new products I am trying to offer customers an option for a five-minute stop,” said Cunningham. “People are on the run more and these items will allow our customers to come in, order their food, and walk out in less time.” Cunningham has been in the food service business for 20 years, but considers the last six years as owner of The Red Tomato to be his best. “This has been my most enjoyable business that I have been a part of,” said Cunningham. “Portland is a great community and this is a good location. The customers have been great and we have had a consistent rise in business. Every year seems to get better than the previous year. It has just been really enjoyable to be here.” The Red Tomato is located at 149 BrisPhoto by Tom Thelen tie St. in Portland. Miller has served Portland residents for 32 years By TOM THELEN tthelen@lsj.com

PORTLAND — Dr. Roger Miller D.D.S. has been offering general dentistry services to Portland-area residents for 32 years. Miller’s dedication was recently rewarded as he was selected as the favorite dentist by Portland-area residents in the 2010 People’s Choice Awards through Lansing Community Newspapers. “Getting this honor is exciting,” said Miller. “It’s nice to know that your patients appreciate you. There are a lot of good dentists here in Portland so this is truly an honor.” Miller said that the honor is not his alone. “To me, this honor is also a reflection on the staff,” said Miller. “I have two great assistants in Kelsey Schafer and Kelly Carter. Our hygienists, Jenny Frewen and Betsy Speicher, both do a great job. And Helen Smith and Connie Brown do an outstanding job managing the front desk.” Dentistry was not Miller’s first course of study in college. “I had been accepted into medical school. But after I Photo by Tom Thelen had worked in an emergency room, I decided that it was Dr. Roger Miller DDS was selected as the favorite not what I wanted to do,” said Miller. “My best friend’s dentist in the Portland-area for 2010. Miller has been father was a dentist and I always liked what he did and in practice in Portland for 32 years. he seemed to enjoy it so I went to become a dentist.”

Miller studied dentistry at the University of Michigan. After graduation, he began looking for a place to start his practice. “I wanted to find a small town that was not far away from a bigger city,” said Miller. “I came to Portland because of its location between Lansing and Grand Rapids.” Miller also received valuable assistance from Dr. Barry Hilligan D.D.S. when he was just starting his practice. “Dr. Hilligan had the office right next to mine and when he got busy he would send patients to me,” said Miller. “Plus he offered some valuable advice. He really helped me get started here.” One area of the field that has changed in Miller’s 32 years has been the technology. “The technology changes all of the time,” said Miller. “It has been a gradual change. But when you look back to the way were doing things when I started 32 years ago it is amazing how far we have come. The treatment options are so much better now.” One area that has not changed in those 32 years is Miller’s best aspect of the job. “My favorite thing is just meeting people and helping the people,” said Miller. “Just being with the patients is my favorite part of the job. And I want to thank them for the past 32 years and allowing us to do what we do. “Portland has been really good to me and my family,” added Miller. “This is a very nice place to raise a family.” Miller’s office is located at 811 W. Grand River Ave. in Portland. Office hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and on Friday. Miller’s office is accepting new patients. Financial advisor quickly earns trust of clients By TOM THELEN

tthelen@lsj.com

PORTLAND — Kory Blastic has only been offering financial advice to Portland-area residents for the last two years. However, the Edward Jones financial advisor has quickly earned the trust of his clients. Blastic was selected as the Portland area’s favorite financial advisor in the 2010 People’s Choice voting offered by Lansing Community Newspapers. Blastic has been serving the area for Edward Jones for two years and opened his downtown Portland office four months ago. “It is a great honor to be selected,” said Blastic. “It says a lot of about the trust that our clients have in our services as well as our ability to help them meet their financial goals.” Blastic began serving the Portland area as an Edward Jones financial advisor two years ago. At that time, he was based in an office in Grand Ledge. Earleir this year, Blastic moved his offices to the Kramer Building at the intersection of Kent and Bridge streets in downtown Portland. The

move proved to be a popular one. “We had a great response right out of the gate,” said Blastic. “We had a number of people who came in seeking assistance. That number has slowed down lately, but this is the time of year when that happens.” Blastic said the local office has made it easier for local clients to get answers to their questions. “It has really helped because people can just walk in the door and get the answers that they are looking for,” said Blastic. “Plus, having this local office allows for more face-to-face interaction with our clients. I can look up with investments they are in but also remember the conversation the last time that I met with that client. If you do the same thing over the telephone you may not get the same person every time and the customer service representative has to spend some time looking up that client’s history.” Blastic said his goal in advising a client is to help them meet their financial goals, which may include planning a com-

fortable retirement, saving for a college education, saving money on taxes, or enjoying retirement years. Blastic said clients can meet their goals through a variety of options offered through Edward Jones, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, life insurance policies and annuities. “The state has also developed a new program to save for college tuition that is available to us,” said Blastic. “The program is tax deferred and the funds can be used to pay for tuition and other education-related purchases at qualifying schools. And if the child that you took out the program for does not use those funds, that can be used for another child or by a parent. I think this will be a great benefit to many people.” Blastic said that he and his new office administrator, Amy Kahn, are available for any new clients who have questions or want advice about investing, especially in light of the current economy and recent downturns in the market.

“What has happened is that more people are seeking help and advice,” said Blastic. “When the markets are going well, people are willing to let things be. But with the current economy, we are seeing more and more people, some of them have never sat down with a financial advisor. But we take the time to discuss all of the options available to them. We have even had some clients who have done well with their investments when the market was down.” Blastic has also assisted clients who are just starting retirement. “Some companies offer access to financial advisors while the employee is still working at the company,” said Blastic. “But once they retire, they no longer have that access. Some of our clients are in that position and we have offered advice and options for them.” Blastic’s Edward Jones office is located in the Kramer Building at 212 Kent St. in downtown Portland. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and can be reached at (517) 647-2787.

‘New’ store named Portland’s favorite PORTLAND — Just over three years ago, Jill Serba opened a consignment shop in downtown Portland hoping to fill a need for such a store in the community. Serba’s instincts were correct. Three years later, the New To You consignment shop has become a popular spot for shoppers looking to buy or sell clothing. The store also was chosen by Portland-area residents as their Favorite Women’s Clothing Store in the 2010 People’s Choice Awards sponsored by Lansing Community Newspapers. Serba was a new resident to Portland when she opened New To You on June 1, 2007. “My family had just moved to Portland at that

time,” said Serba. “I had worked in consignment for 12 years at that point and figured I would give it a shot here.” The idea proved to be a good one as the store grew in popularity. However, a recent change forced Serba to sell the store on June 1 of this year. “I had a child in January and also operated another store in Okemos and it all just got to be too much,” said Serba. “I am going to miss my customers here. I have always enjoyed the smalltown feel and how everyone knows everyone. I am not from Portland originally so that was a nice feeling to be part of.” The New To You store will remain open under the ownership of Dawn Becker. See
