Ihnen wird vorgeworfen, ihr Land vor terroristischen Attacken einer paramilitärischen Organisation aus Miami verteidigt zu haben. Das gesammelte Beweismaterial der fünf kann nicht zu ihrer Verteidigung verwendet werden. Einer der Angeklagten hat trotz mangelnder Beweislage zweifach lebenslange Freiheitsstrafe erhalten. Neben vertraulichen Aussagen der Frauen der Männer, enthüllt dieser Film eine Geschichte der Liebe und des Kampfes für Gerechtigkeit. Director’s Statement “The Cuban Wives” is a film about love and resistance. Cuba is the setting for this story, but on a sentimental level the film could be anywhere and reach out to anyone who has loved and suffered separation from their loved ones. “The Cuban Wives” ist ein Film über Liebe und Widerstand. Kuba ist zwar der Schauplatz der Geschichte, doch auf der Gefühlsebene könnte dieser Film überall spielen und erreicht alle, die geliebt haben und die sich von ihren Geliebten trennen mussten.
