EVEN THOUGH THE CAROLINA WINTERS are mild, I don’t like them. Some winter-hating folks like me get SADD (Seasonal A ective Depression Disorder) when the icy winds and frozen slush set in. Not me. I just get mad— mad that it’s not 78 degrees out and I can’t wear my ip ops.

So now that the weather is starting to turn, you’d think that I would not only be happy to march into spring, but that I would be doing it with a spring in my step, right? After all, is there a better invitation for new intentions, a new mindset, and a new start than spring? I do feel the need to refresh and renew, especially after my winter hibernation. In fact, I’ve got a to-do list the length of the Magna Carta, only I’m struggling with the order and discipline needed to get the “to-do’s” done. And whenever I’m struggling with order and discipline, I think of my father. An Army captain in the 1960s, my dad not only appreciated and thrived on the order and discipline he learned in the military, it was his parenting mission to instill those same qualities in his o spring—a goal that, I admit, was somewhat lost on me.

Lucky for me though, my dad was busy running a business and playing golf much of my childhood, so the hours he had for teaching order and discipline were limited. But when he got the urge to impart to me his wisdom on the subject—usually when there was a home improvement project to be completed and he needed a cheap laborer—he would don his o cial Army captain’s cap, wave around a broomstick as if it were a military baton, and give me my marching orders for the day. Any complaining was met with

a broom handle pointed in the direction of my chore and the retort “March on, soldier.”

e younger me met my dad’s directives with quiet (albeit whiny) insolence, though I desperately needed the order and discipline he was trying to impart. Even now, at 50-something, my rst reaction to the mental image of my cap-clad, baton waving, order-shouting dad is an involuntary eye roll. After all, why do something today when I can curl up under a blanket on the couch and put it o until tomorrow? But then I think about how much better I will feel if I can shake o this winter rut, embrace the creativity and renewal that comes with spring, or at the very least, just get o the couch and do something…anything. And it’s then that I realize that perhaps my father wasn’t simply trying to obtain free labor; perhaps he was trying to teach me a lesson about the importance of moving forward, even when I don’t feel like it. And as annoying as a father in an Army cap shouting marching orders can be, instead of an eye roll, I’m beginning to realize that I owe my dad a thank you. If he were here, I would tell him. And though he was not a fan of public displays of a ection, I might even give him a hug. In response, I have no doubt, he would wave his broomstick in a direction indicating somewhere forward and issue the order “March on, soldier.” w

PERSONALIZED, SCIENCE-BASED WEIGHT LOSS STRATEGIES

TO THE CAROLINAS

Weight loss brings with it many bene ts from increased energy levels to decreased blood pressure and cholesterol — not to mention the increased con dence that comes with looking and feeling your best. It’s important to remember that not all plans are the same, though, and some may even leave patients on their own to gain back the weight after they’ve completed their program. Physician’s Plan is unique because services are tailored to each individual and are backed by ongoing counseling and support to help them in their journey.

One aspect of their multi-faceted approach involves natural fat burners such as Lipo-Plus injections that contain a unique combination of B-12, vitamin B-complex and lipotropic ingredients. When taken in combination with exercise and reduced calorie intake, these vitamin injections give an added boost to your weight loss goals with appetite suppression that helps curb cravings while increasing metabolism and energy levels.

Another medication, Semaglutide, interacts with the parts of the brain that reduce appetite and signal a feeling of fullness. Similarly, Tirzepatide activates receptors of hormones secreted from the intestine to reduce appetite and food intake while their body adjusts to new, healthier eating habits.

“I’ve had multiple doctor/physician visits in the past but this one is by far the best one,” said Vance, a Physician’s Plan patient. “They took what I said into consideration and got me supplements based o that and their expertise."

Often, patients are surprised by how food choices can sabotage their e orts. Physician’s Plan o ers a seven-day, high-protein meal plan that not only helps patients lose weight, but teaches them how to make healthy choices after they’ve completed the program. Food doesn't have to be boring just because we're on a wellness journey. Physician’s Plan provides delicious and healthy recipes so patients can ourish.

The team at Physician’s Plan includes board-certi ed physicians and weight loss specialists. They provide guidance and counseling to help patients increase awareness and eventually change the negative attitudes that drive unhealthy behaviors. This can be a key motivator in helping patients set personal goals for a healthy lifestyle and keeping with it.

"I love everyone and everything about this place!” Laurie, another Physician’s Plan patient told us. “Everyone is so kind and understanding. Everything is explained in detail and I never feel rushed."

Bottom line — Physician’s Plan weight loss programs are centered on a multifaceted approach that combines counseling, behavior modi cation, appetite suppression, nutrition, natural health burners and healthy recipes. The team at Physician’s Plan is committed to helping patients succeed in their weight loss goals, providing support along the way for the highest odds of success.

Physician's Plan is a leading medical spa, aesthetics and weight loss practice with locations throughout North and South Carolina. Their team of board-certified physicians and certified wellness coaches provides a range of services including medical weight loss, skincare, health and wellness solutions. How did you get started in your career?

Helping people reach their real estate dreams and goals was something I knew I would love, and Lake Norman Realty has been amazing! Their longevity and wonderful reputation around the lake is why I chose to affiliate with them, and it was the best decision I could have made. I have loved real estate, architecture, and interior design my entire life. My grandfather was a realtor so it must be in my blood. I earned a business degree which is a big advantage in the real estate industry, but I also took drafting and interior decorating classes which inspired me as well. Space planning and decorating are both something I really enjoy and use often when staging homes.

What turns in the road led you here?

I was born in New Jersey and am the youngest of three. We moved to Rhode Island when I was 9 and it was a wonderful place to grow up. My father was an insurance executive, and my mother was a professional artist. While attending college in Rhode Island, I met my husband Jay and we have been happily married for 35 years. We have two children: John, 34, and Haley 29. John and Samantha have been married six years and have two children, Jack and Isla. We love spoiling our grandchildren! They live in Denver, and Haley lives in Charlotte—she recently got engaged to Nick in Kennebunkport, Maine, so we are now excitedly planning their wedding to be held next year in Charleston.

What turns in the road strengthened you?

Lisa

My move from Florida 10 years ago really changed my life. I left my sister, my nephews, my friends, and the Gulf of Mexico beaches. Once we moved to Lake Norman, my daughter started college the same week, so I left everyone and everything I had known and loved and we became emptynesters all at the same time. There were a lot of tears for a lot of years, but I learned that I had to accept the change, make a new life here, and that everything was going to work out just the way it’s supposed to. It made me much stronger, and it made it clear that it was time to take a leap of faith and do what I had been wanting to do for a long time ... real estate!

What turns in the road almost broke you?

Six years ago, my nephew and godchild Danny, my sister’s son, was diagnosed with a rare cancer called liposarcoma ... he was just 39 years old. He fought the fight for four years but lost his battle two years ago. He was the best charter fishing captain in Florida. He was on magazine covers, television shows, and was the best friend to everyone. He was larger than life, handsome, and VERY funny. A bright light is gone from our family ... it is still so difficult to process that he’s gone. I’ve learned to appreciate the little things even more. Never miss the opportunity to tell someone you love them. I put my faith in God that we will see each other again on the other side. w

AND

A Q&A WITH DR. CORAL KIRSCHER

QWhat is Anti-Aging/Longevity Medicine?

It treats the underlying causes of aging and aims at alleviating any age-related ailment. Its goal is to extend the healthy lifespan of humans having youthful characteristics. Often, the best way to manage a problem is to start at its source. Take, for example, aging. We know that aging occurs at the cellular level, beginning with each cell in the human body. It also comes with unfavorable symptoms like low energy, aches and pains, memory loss, and often sexual dysfunction. erefore, the best way to deal with the common e ects of aging is by using advanced, e ective, and safe regenerative protocols that promote cellular health.

QWhat are some examples of anti-aging treatments?

It’s a diverse and growing medical eld ... there are many products, programs, medications, procedures, and supplements, so do your research. As an example, we o er our patients medical aesthetics, including prescription compounded personal skin care products; memory enhancement options; Bioidentical Hormone Replacement erapy; weight loss; hair restoration; and stem cell therapy, among others.

QWhat are some of the benefits of anti-aging programs?

We see an array of improvements in our patients. Not only do we see their lives in general getting better, but brain fog is reduced and memory is enhanced; patients achieve a more youthful appearance; muscle tone and strength are improved (aiding in faster recovery times); anti-aging treatments prevent chronic disease, increase energy levels, and promote DNA repair.

QWhat about oral supplements?

We recommend injections or IV since oral supplements DO NOT provide the same bene ts as injections or IV. Don’t be fooled by the claims of supplemental companies advertising otherwise. We have found these claims to be 100 percent false.

Anti-Aging

LONGEVITY MEDICINE—

QWhat is NAD?

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD) is a coenzyme central to metabolism. Found in all living cells, it reduces vascular aging which helps on a number of levels:

Reduces the risk of chronic disease and boosts your overall health and wellbeing

Increases the youthful appearance of skin; improves hair and nails

Turns food into energy which protects cells and regulates circadian rhythm

Protects the brain, reduces brain fog, and increases mental re exes

Helps you think more clearly for better decision-making skills and faster mental re exes

Helps blood vessels and muscles communicate to help increase muscle building and recovery

Increases metabolism and aids in weight loss

Boosts the “happy hormone” serotonin which reduces anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and insomnia

Helps restore cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer’s w

BARBARA JOHNSON, Parks & Recreation Supervisor for the Winnie Hooper Recreation Center, retired from the Mooresville Parks and Recreation Department this past December, and a grand celebration was held at The Charles Mack Citizen Center to recognize and applaud her nearly 30 years of work and dedication. The Board of Commissioners honored her at the Mooresville Town Hall just prior to the event. “It’s been an honor and a privilege,” she smiles, “to work closely with the community and local agencies to change lives in Iredell County. I was given an opportunity to create programs and build partnerships that improved the lives of so many, and I am eternally grateful for this journey.”

Building Relationships

Working with people is a passion for Barbara so her career in parks and recreation was well-suited.

“Getting to work with youth, teens, adults, and senior populations,” she explains, “was such a blessing. And working with our 40 plus partners, without whom none of this would be possible, was a bonus! It gave me a sense of belonging. Being a Town of Mooresville employee gave me an opportunity to be my best self. I will always be thankful for it all ... the smiles, the laughter, the tears, and the joy. Our program participants created a gathering space at the Winnie Hooper Recreation Center where everyone is welcome and their love for each other is priceless. My friend and recreation assistant Dorothy Washburn and I worked together for 17 years at the Center. We prayed and raised our children together ... she is truly my sister, and many others I worked with are like family to me ... and I will carry that with me always.”

Face It and Embrace It

“Over the years I would create lots of programs, throw them against a wall, and nothing would stick. I had to pivot and lean into my discomfort. Meeting people in their spaces and engaging in conversations was my gamechanger. I listened to their stories and testimonies. It felt good to help people who needed you to just listen.”

Making a Difference

“I am very proud of the two programs I created that were recognized by the National Recreation and Park Association. e Fit n Strong! and the Walk With Ease are evidence-based programs that help reduce pain and sti ness associated with arthritis for adults and senior populations. ese programs ensured that all people had access to the health bene ts that the Mooresville Parks and Recreation Department o ered. I also founded Di erence Maker-- e Girl Leadership Conference which was a program that gave girls a platform to have their voices heard as well as the opportunity to hear from amazing women leaders doing great work in the community.” w

Yard Guard

PREPPING YOUR YARD FOR SUMMER

WITH SPRING ARRIVING THIS MONTH, your mind may be creeping toward your yard—along with weeds and bugs! There are many things to consider in prepping your yard and guarding it against all things destructive. Here are five tips to help you get your yard looking its best:

REMOVE debris

This will help air flow better throughout the grass and prevent diseases and insect infestation. It will also help reduce Snow Mold, a type of fungus that damages or kills grass after snow melts.

aerate YOUR LAWN

n o

fertilize IN THE SPRING

Also important to do in the spring, core aeration allows water and air to reach the root zone faster which in turn results in new growth and increased root development. It is important to note that this should be done when soil temperatures are at 55-60 degrees.

This will jump start your lawn from its winter dormancy and provide the proper nutrients to withstand the dry, hot months of summer.

re-seed DAMAGED TURF

Spring is a good time to tend to damaged areas but be careful in using weed control as this can prevent ANY seed from germinating. It is a good idea to hold off crabgrass control until the latest point possible.

apply

CRABGRASS CONTROL

It is necessary to use a preemergent crabgrass control prior to the soil reaching 5560 degrees; after that point, the weed seeds will have begun to germinate. And after germination, crabgrass is very difficult to rid. w

YOU KNOW THAT SWEET, CATCHY SONG about making your way in the world today, and how it takes everything you’ve got? And how, just maybe, taking a break from all our worries sure would help a lot? Traci Sha ner understands those sentiments completely. As the owner of e Cabin Pub in Davidson, she’s all about bringing light to people’s lives – one smile, one cocktail (or mocktail) at a time.

e Cleveland, Ohio, native’s path to businessowner began, surprisingly, in Alaska where she lived for three years after visiting the state in college. She completed her degree in business with an emphasis in marketing at the University of Alaska and, after a stint in corporate America, she was all about forging her own path.

“I was an original member of Burn Boot Camp before it was a franchise,” she explains. “Once they started selling franchise locations, I purchased one in Cleveland, Ohio. It was a successful business, and I was impressed by how it changed lives so completely, but there were many elements that made it no longer feasible for me, so I sold it in 2022. Although I’m proud of what I built in Cleveland, I was very happy to pass the torch.”

There’s so much closeness & camaraderie here …

“I began working at my parent’s liquor store in middle school,” she shares. “I stocked shelves, cleaned, did inventory, and as I got older I worked the register and sold lottery tickets. My parents had a lot of pride in that store, and I have the same pride for e Cabin. My folks were always so welcoming to the regular customers. ey were like family to us.”

Now with her attention focused on her new business, Traci relishes the closeness of the community she’s built at e Cabin Pub. Her customers are, once again, just like family ... people come in and share their problems or laugh over the stories of the week. “ ere’s so much closeness and camaraderie here,” she smiles, “and with that comes great potential to give back and pay it forward. My goals for 2024 include more charitable work and events.”

Traci is mom to a volleyballacing middle schooler named Ambria who inspires her daily. Understanding that her daughter is absorbing everything around her, Traci wants to make sure she is empowering Ambria to make the right decisions in life and be the best version of herself.

“I’m most proud that I am able to provide for my daughter and be a good example for her. I was able to purchase, run, and sell a successful franchise, buy our home, and now own a pub on Lake Norman. ere were times that it was, and still is, daunting and di cult with plenty of blood, sweat, and tears ... but oh so worth it!” w

THE Traveling

DESIGNER

OH, HOW I LOVE TO TRAVEL! e planning, the experiences, and the learning that is involved feeds my “Curious George” mind.

Furthermore, travel fosters a deeper understanding of the relationship between architecture and the natural environment. I am especially drawn to the Art Nouveau found in Riga, Latvia, and Antonio Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona inspired by the organic forms of nature.

As interior designers, we do more than arrange furniture and pick paint colors; it's about creating spaces and interior architecture that re ect culture, personality, and lifestyle. One of the most valuable tools in an interior designer's arsenal is travel. Travel not only broadens horizons but also inspires creativity and informs design choices in unique and meaningful ways.

TRAVEL PROVIDES ENDLESS SOURCES OF INSPIRATION THAT CAN BE TRANSLATED INTO INNOVATIVE DESIGN CONCEPTS.

Travel has exposed me to diverse cultures, architecture, and design styles. Visiting di erent countries and regions allows us to experience rsthand the rich tapestry of design traditions, from the intricate patterns of Moroccan tiles to the minimalist aesthetic of Scandinavian interiors. By immersing ourselves in these environments, we gain insights into how di erent cultures use space, materials, and colors to create harmonious and functional living spaces.

New destinations also allow us to source unique furnishings, textiles, and accessories that add character and authenticity to our projects. Exploring local markets, artisan workshops, and antique shops gives a designer access to one-of-a-kind pieces that cannot be found in mainstream stores. Integrating these treasures into interior spaces not only enhances their aesthetic appeal but also imbues them with a sense of history and cultural signi cance. To this end, it is more important to me, as a designer, to learn the importance of the treasures our clients have found and nd ways to highlight those memories in the design.

e Noguchi Museum in New York is a great example of the importance of designing spaces that harmonize with their surroundings. is awareness inspires designers to incorporate elements such as natural light, greenery, and sustainable materials into their projects, creating spaces that promote well-being and environmental stewardship.

e best part is that travel enhances our ability to connect with clients on a personal level. Sharing travel experiences allows us to build rapport with clients and gain insights into their tastes, preferences, and aspirations. By drawing on shared experiences and their individual cultural references, we can create spaces that resonate with clients on a deeper level and re ect their unique identities and lifestyles.

By immersing ourselves in di erent cultures, exploring diverse design traditions, and discovering unique treasures, we can create spaces that are not only visually stunning but also meaningful and transformative for our clients. So, join me and pack your bags, where should we go next? w

REAL ESTATE INSIGHTS FROM THE EXPERTS

AS WE TRANSITION INTO 2024, many questions, predictions, promises, and expectations loom large in the minds of many—and the real estate market is no exception.

Whether you’re buying, selling, agent or investor, understanding the new trends will help you adapt strategies to navigate the landscape successfully. Here are a few things to consider:

Bifurcated Markets: In 2024, industries are either returning to pre-COVID patterns or adapting to more permanent changes—causing a distinct “preCOVID/post-COVID” split that will signi cantly impact both commercial and residential real estate sectors.

National Property Searches:

Working from home has become a new norm for many thus the geographical constraints of job locations are waning. Buyers are expanding their property searches nationwide, utilizing digital tools more than ever. is will require a reevaluation of property values on a national scale which will a ect pricing strategies.

Branded Residences: In the past decade or so, branded residences have experienced a 40 percent growth. Buyers are willing to pay premiums for the luxury services and amenities o ered by these hotel-branded residences, signifying a signi cant shift towards service-oriented living environments.

Need for Revitalization: Urban centers, especially those built around professional workers, are facing immense pressure to revitalize and implement improvements. ere will be a continued need in 2024 for programs and incentives to reinvent these downtown areas.

Josh and Charlene Dearing are founders of e Dearing Team and SERHANT North Carolina. You can reach them at 704.808.1428 or thedearingteam@serhant.com.

Moving to the Burbs: With more people working remotely and the prohibitive costs of city living, there’s a growing demand for larger homes in the suburbs. is demand—coupled with a decrease in sales and listing volumes but an increase in median pricing—is reshaping suburban real estate.

A Seller’s Market: e inventory dilemma has spread nationwide and with challenges in a ordability and interest rates, property prices are predicted to keep rising. is trend suggests a seller’s market, where demand consistently outpaces supply.

Cautious Investors: Investors are becoming more cautious about real estate because of rising interest rates and low transaction volumes. is cautiousness could create space in the market for regular buyers and renters.

Stabilizing for 2025: e Federal Reserve plans to maintain a balanced economic environment— where interest rates are expected to stabilize, not drop. is will play a crucial role in shaping the real estate market for the rest of this year and beyond. w

THIS MONTH, we are honored to shine the spotlight on two remarkable LKNWomen who have made a significant impact in our community. Dr. Kara Lembo and Dr. Lindsay Montgomery are celebrating 13 years of business this year and are outstanding examples of how hard work, faith, and family are at the root of success. The two formed Lembo Montgomery Cosmetic & Family Dentistry in 2011, and their journey, as well as their life perspective and philanthropic nature, provide us all with a large dose of inspiration and plenty of smiles!

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Journey

e sisters grew up in Cedarville, Michigan, and attended Les Cheneaux Community Schools K-12. With family being central in their lives, they were particularly in uenced by their father, John J. Scherer, DDS, who practiced dentistry himself for over 40 years. Both parents taught the girls the importance of character, leadership, and family values. Dr. Montgomery’s interest in dentistry began when she worked alongside her father in his dental practice and discovered rsthand how diverse the eld is and the signi cant ways it helps people—mentally, emotionally, and physically. After she graduated from dental school, Dr. Montgomery served eight years in the United States Navy— ve years at Camp Lejeune and three years in the Navy Reserve. During her service, she was deployed overseas in Operation Iraqi Freedom providing dental care to military personnel. She was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for her e orts. Dr. Lembo also discovered her passion for dentistry while working with their father. She then went on to Central Michigan University for her undergraduate studies in biology and pre-dental. Kara attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and graduated in May 2003. She started her own dental practice in Shelby Township, Michigan, in August 2004 and was very successful for ve years before moving her family south in order to ful ll her lifelong dream of working with her sister.

“Our path to success has not always been a straight one,” Dr. Montgomery says, “but we have been able to learn and grow from the tough situations thanks to what our parents taught us. Change is inevitable so how you react and adjust will determine whether you sink or swim. Our dad always told us to believe in ourselves, our abilities, and in each other. We truly love being together as business partners, friends, and sisters, and it is in large part due to our dad. He passed in 2020 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was our role model and the rock in our lives ... we miss him every day.”

THE DAY TIME STOOD STILL

“I was sitting across the desk from Lindsay having lunch when the phone rang. I had my breath taken away from me … I was a statue frozen in time trying to make out what the voice on the phone was saying to me. I wrote a note on a post-it to my sister: I have breast cancer!!! No words, just silence as I listened to the nurse. My diagnosis was invasive ductal carcinoma insitu of the left breast. Our lives had suddenly and drastically changed in a matter of seconds. Cancer has given me a new perspective on life. Sometimes I nd myself looking back at old photos and my pre-cancer days. Truth is that I do not recognize the woman I see. I am not that person anymore and I never will be again. But I am the new me, and I am stronger and wiser now than ever before … and I am proud of who I am. I want to be a strong advocate for other women and particularly for those who are diagnosed at a younger age. I was just 46, and my annual exam detected it—not my mammogram, so it is important to get both screenings. I hope my story helps others. Cancer made me realize how valuable life is and how amazing it is to be alive.”

ALWAYS REACH FOR THE TOP

e sisters have won numerous awards through the years, and they have a deep connection and commitment to their community. “It is part of our overall mission in life to give back,” the ladies explain. “We want to be good role models, especially for young women, and encourage them to follow their dreams. Believing in oneself is paramount ... you have to love what you do, have a solid plan, be organized, and be a team player. Surround yourself with positive people and energy ... and always reach for the top.” w

SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GREATNESS

“We are eternally grateful for everyone on our team,” Dr. Montgomery says. “ ey are not only committed to the practice, but to a high level of achievement and to our common goal and motto: Happy Team, Happy Patients!” Dr. Lembo agrees: “We have a great group of women who bring a positive attitude to work every day—which lifts all our spirits! We are very blessed and grateful for our incredible work family.” As for their home life, Dr. Lembo and husband, Joe, have been married for over 23 years and have two children: Joey, 16, and Isabel who is 14. Dr. Montgomery has been married for almost 18 years now, and she and her husband Darren have a 10-year-old daughter, Coralyn.

World CRUISE

Going on a world cruise is an ambitious option to check many destinations off your travel bucket list. World cruising is gaining lots of buzz on TikTok recently, and it’s easy to see why. With a world cruise, your accommodation travels with you. This means you can explore different destinations without the hassle of constant packing and unpacking. Visiting multiple countries and continents brings

While Tasmania is becoming increasingly popular with tourists, it is still relatively undiscovered compared to mainland Australia. The best part about visiting this island is that you can explore without the crowds and tourist “traps” that are often found on the mainland. Tasmania is home to several unique species of wildlife, including the famous Tasmanian devil, wallabies, and wombats. What most people do not know about Tasmania is the island has a thriving culinary scene, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and sustainable farming practices, making it the perfect destination for foodies!

Uruguay

If you’re looking for a slow-as-you-go pace, laid back atmosphere, and relaxing destination, Uruguay needs to be at the top of your bucket list. Montevideo is Uruguay’s busiest city, but even here you will be amazed to see how quiet and slow-paced the city really is. The stunning beaches on the coastline are often uncrowded and pristine, making your stay comfortable and relaxing. travel LKNw guide 5 TIPS FOR Booking YOUR 2024 vacati

1 2

BOOK EARLY

RENEW YOUR PASSPORT

As obvious as this tip may sound, booking early is crucial in ensuring your accommodation, experiences, and flights are secured. Popular destinations and desirable accommodations tend to fill up quickly, and prices may increase as demand rises. By planning ahead, you not only have a wider selection of options to choose from, but you also increase your chances of securing a “hard to find” property or experience.

One of the most overlooked aspects of vacation planning is ensuring that your passport is valid for the duration of your trip. Passport renewal can take some time, so it’s important to check the expiration date well in advance. Some countries also require a certain number of months’ validity beyond your travel dates (generally 6 months). Renewing your passport early ensures that you won’t face any lastminute hurdles or disappointments, allowing you to embark on your vacation smoothly and without any passport-related issues.

BEWARE OF THE ONLINE DEALS

While online deals can be tempting, it’s crucial to exercise caution and thoroughly research before making any reservations. Scams and misleading offers are unfortunately common in the online travel industry. To avoid potential pitfalls, consider booking directly through reputable travel agencies or the official websites of hotels and airlines. Additionally, read reviews and testimonials to gauge the credibility of the deals you come across. This cautious approach ensures that your vacation plans are built on a solid foundation, minimizing the risk of unexpected complications.

GET TSA PRE-CHECK OR CLEAR

Streamlining your airport experience can significantly enhance the overall enjoyment of your vacation. Consider enrolling in programs like TSA Pre-Check or CLEAR to expedite security screenings and reduce wait times. These programs not only save time but also contribute to a more relaxed and stress-free travel experience. With the convenience of expedited security, you’ll have more time to explore the airport amenities or relax before your flight, setting a positive tone for the start of your vacation. You may also want to consider Global Entry or Mobile Passport Control for an expedited U.S. customs experience.

USE A TRAVEL ADVISOR

The expertise and personalized service offered by a travel advisor can make a world of difference in planning your dream vacation. A professional travel advisor can provide insider knowledge, tailor your itinerary to your preferences, and secure exclusive perks and upgrades. From navigating complex travel restrictions to recommending hidden gems and ensuring seamless logistics, a travel advisor takes the stress out of vacation planning. By leveraging their industry connections and expertise, you not only save time but also gain access to a wealth of resources that enhance the overall quality of your travel experience.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS A BIT LIKE TIME SPENT ON A TRAVEL ADVENTURE— it offers the promise of freedom to do what you want, when you want, and how you want; it also offers the additional benefits of providing the satisfaction of building an outlet for one’s passions and the fulfillment of making a positive difference in the lives of others. As a successful female entrepreneur for the past 24 years and someone who has been coaching, guiding, and leading travel entrepreneurs on their journey (the majority of whom are women) for the past 13 years, I wanted to share my tips for anyone considering taking the leap of faith and launching themselves into entrepreneurship, travelrelated or otherwise.

MAKE BECOME AN

AN ADVENTURE— entrepreneur!

1 START WITH YOUR PASSION.

What are you most passionate about? What lights you up when you talk or think about it? e journey of entrepreneurship can be a rollercoaster with unexpected twists and turns and even some loop-de-loops. When you build a business around your passion, it gives you staying power and keeps you grounded. In addition, you are starting a business that is aligned with your purpose, which will wholeheartedly serve you in the long run.

2 IDENTIFY THE FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITY. is is where you must travel from heart to head and get practical. When I took my rst leap of faith into entrepreneurship, I spent my rst six years as a travel advisor in the red. It was painful. e good news is that I dug deep and focused on guring out where the nancial opportunity was when it came to running a business selling travel.  e answer I found was in increasing the transaction sizes of my bookings, which came down to a simple shift towards selling luxury travel and group travel. Be honest with yourself. Take the time to de ne what nancial satisfaction means to you and do some research to see if your business idea can get you there.

3 MODEL AFTER SUCCESS.

Find someone or something that has a solid path and use this as an example while you put your own spin on it to get started. is will save you time, money, and energy. Is there a training program you can invest in? Is there a coaching program in which you can enroll? Invest in the right help, guidance, and training. For instance, the  Gifted Travel Network’s Travel MBA program (www.getyourtravelmba.com) o ers a 12-month program to help travel advisors start, launch, and build their travel business with support and guidance every step of the way.

I’d like to close with a bonus tip – keep your mindset in check. e entrepreneurial journey can deliver all that you want and more. It will also bring to the surface all the doubts, fears, limiting beliefs, and scarcity programming that have been holding you back all your life. Be courageous and do it anyway. Make decisions from a place of faith and not fear. w

After serving his country, Dr. Wurmlinger entered private practice where he continued to re ne his professional skills with advanced study and treatment in esthetic dentistry. BETTER ME BETTER YOU BETTER WORLD

MIND body spirit

By mixing the ingredients of attitude and action, we can change the flavor of our own lives. Learn to nurture your body and soul to lead a more balanced life.

KEEP A GOOD THOUGHT

Every thought emits a frequency to the universe. If you have negative thoughts (hopelessness, sadness, anger, fear), all this comes back to you, so it is imperative that we keep our thoughts positive.

KEEP GOOD COMPANY

WHAT IS VIBRATIONAL FREQUENCY AND HOW DOES IT RELATE TO OUR BODIES?

IN QUANTUM PHYSICS, “VIBRATION” SIMPLY means that everything is energy. We are vibrant beings on certain frequencies, and every vibration is equivalent to a feeling. Any feeling or emotion that we experience makes us broadcast a vibration, and there are only two varieties: positive and negative.

Cells that vibrate at a higher frequency are full of energy and are super healthy, reflecting how we feel. These rhythms take place on a grand scale just like the change of the seasons and tidal patterns. They occur in our bodies as heartbeat, breathing rates, and circadian rhythms, but there are much smaller vibrations happening in our bodies as well. Inside each one of our cells, molecules vibrate at specific and distinct rates. Consider the following in keeping your frequency positively charged:

Those you choose to be around directly influence your vibrational frequency, so surround yourself with happy, positive, empathetic, and determined people.

I GOT THE MUSIC IN ME

Music is very powerful! If you only listen to music that talks about death, betrayal, sadness, abandonment, all this will interfere with your thoughts and mood. Choose positive, uplifting lyrics and melodies that are equally upbeat and happy.

WATCH WHAT YOU WATCH

When you engage in programs, games, movies, social media, etc. that deal with misfortunes, death, violence, and betrayals your brain accepts this as reality and releases a whole bunch of negative chemistry into your body.

YOUR FENG-SHUI

A messy and dirty environment will also affect your vibrational frequency. Declutter your home and personal spaces. And if you don’t have a place you can go to feel at peace and receive quiet “me time” then create one immediately ... it’s essential for healthy mind, body, and spirit!

VIBRATING GRATITUDE

The ultimate positive vibrational frequency we can achieve is when we express gratitude, love, and kindness for it is these three essential life components that open the door for good things to happen in your life. In order to keep your frequency high, do not gossip or speak ill of others ... do not complain about things; instead, count your blessings and problemsolve. Seek ways to give back, express thankfulness, and pay it forward. w
