BIRTHDAY LUNCH FOR MARY STRAUSS

S

CAPE IN THE CENTRAL WEST END was the place to be if you were one of the lucky ladies celebrating with birthday girl Mary Strauss. Best buddies of the celebrant gathered for a sumptuous lunch, where everyone was greeted with Champagne, followed by a delicious seafood salad, and topped off with chocolate mousse for dessert. One of the highlights was hearing everyone’s ‘Mary’ stories. Joan Quicksilver, Gay Hirsch and Louise Lane served as hostesses.

DIANE’S SCOOP Cynthia Frohlichstein noted that her husband, Harvey, shares the same birthday as Mary Strauss. In fact, she has been calling them twins for years…Joan Quicksilver is looking forward to sharing Thanksgiving dinner with her entire family from all four corners of the United States… In the near future, Mary Strauss will be receiving the Washington University Distinguished Alumni Award…One party guest spoke about Mary coming to visit her in the hospital. She recalls how Mary gave her a gift of watercolor paints and a sketch pad and said, “You can start with a clean slate and paint the colors of what you want the rest of your life to be.” She said it was a great inspiration for her and aided in her recovery.
