PORTS OF CALL SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

NAPIER, NEW ZEALAND

On the southeast coast of the Tasman Sea lies Australia’s darling, the capital of New South Wales and the site of the first British colony in the country: spectacular Sydney. Brimming with indoor and outdoor attractions, the city buzzes with activity and offers an answer for every inclination, from the iconic Sydney Opera House and beloved Sydney Harbour to Centennial Park’s eucalyptus and cockatoos.

The distinctive Art Deco style of Napier memorializes the city’s resilient rebuilding effort following a devastating earthquake and fire in 1931. Charming and attractive, the city features the shore-hugging Marine Parade and the stingray-shaped National Aquarium of New Zealand. Nearby Port Ahuriri marks the first European settlement in the region.

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA

In the aptly named Bay of Plenty, on the expansive Tauranga Harbour, is picturesque Tauranga. A significant site during the New Zealand Land Wars in the 1860s, Tauranga’s intriguing history can be explored downtown, while its natural splendor can be enjoyed on miles of beaches beneath the breathtaking Mount Maunganui

With a rich history and distinctly European flavor, Melbourne is a cultural mecca on the southern coast of Australia’s eastern seaboard. Victorian architecture and myriad museums and galleries complement the city’s scenic splendor. Nearby, the Healesville Sanctuary is considered the best place to view Australian wildlife.

HOBART (TASMANIA), AUSTRALIA Capital of the island state of Tasmania and the second oldest city in Australia, Hobart sits beneath the majestic Mount Wellington, which rises 4,000 feet above the city. With a mesmerizing maritime culture, charming downtown area, and captivating natural beauty, it’s no wonder Hobart is considered Australia’s most distinctive citys.

DUNEDIN (PORT CHALMERS), NEW ZEALAND On the southeast coast of New Zealand’s South Island, Dunedin blends past and present, nature and culture in its perch on verdant hills overlooking a breathtaking harbor. Outside its lively city center, Dunedin is home to the world’s rarest penguin and is the gateway to the celebrated and beautiful Otago region.

AKAROA, NEW ZEALAND Cradled within the serrated coastline of the Banks Peninsula is the small fishing town of Akaroa, meaning ‘long harbor’ in Maori. Influenced by its European past, today the town is distinguished by its winding streets and charming houses appointed with elegant French names.

WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND The political center of New Zealand, Wellington is home to the Parliament Buildings, foreign embassies, National Archives and National Library. The city is also celebrated for its chic culture and plentiful shops, restaurants and galleries. The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa traces New Zealand’s history, environment, art and Maori heritage.

TAURANGA, NEW ZEALAND

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND Stretched between the shimmering waters of the Waitemata and Manukau Harbours is the spectacular city of Auckland. Within the city, the Auckland Harbour Bridge and the Sky Tower offer breathtaking views. Steps outside the city, the brilliance of this region abounds in volcanoes, beaches, parks and the rainforest of the Waitakere Ranges. Shore excursions are not included. In each port of call you may select from a variety of optional shore excursions for an additional charge, some of which are referenced in the descriptions above. Go Next will offer a unique collection of Oceania Cruises shore excursions; available for purchase approximately 4 months prior to departure.
