Krabi is well-used to foreigners and most of the Thai people that
deal with tourists on a daily basis will have a smattering of English to get by. The employees at your resort, for example. The Thais really do appreciate you making an effort to speak their language and just the odd word here and there can make all the difference in your relationships with them. If you plan on staying in Krabi for a little longer than a holiday, a great way to boost your vocabuary and become more integrated into the Thai way of life is to sign up for some Thai language lessons. These are usually small classes that make learning personal and fun, as well as giving you real motivation to get learning! As an added bonus, you can get an Education visa that is valid for 1 year if you are studying the Thai language here. Not a bad way to spend a year, in my opinion!
