HELLO & WELCOME TO OUR JULY - SEPTEMBER 2019 PROGRAMME! We’d like to thank Jane Sargeant for creating this brochure’s fantastic cover art, which she has titled, ‘Summer Sensation’. Jane’s fabulous design took first place in our ‘Summer in the Life of Komedia’ art competition and we’d like to commend all of the other fantastic entries received as well! You’ll be able to drop into the Arts Cafe to see all the competition entries this July in our summer exhibiton. Our summer season also sees the return of Edinburgh Fringe Previews, Bath Carnival and lots of fantastic live music, comedy & cabaret.
Meet the Artist: Jane started her career as an illustrator for BBC TV in the 1980’s before establishing herself as a freelancer specialising in children’s publishing working for companies such as Dorling Kindersley, OUP and Usborne Publishing. Having taken a career break to bring up her three children, Jane took a second degree in Creative Arts at Bath Spa University specialising in print making, textiles and drawing. During this period her work focused on themes around nature and mark making, giving her the opportunity to explore a diverse range of media including the creation of a huge steel and perspex installation in Bath Abbey. Since then, Jane has continued producing personalised commissions to mark birthdays and weddings which allow her to indulge in detailed humorous depictions of other people’s lives.
