“ an year has passed with many good tidings “

Classic Kutumba regrets the sudden demise of Dr. Venugopala Reddy - Mentor and Chairman of the Group and places on record his valuable contribution in building the group. The Kutumba conveys its heart-felt condolences to Mrs. Saraswathi Venugopala Reddy and his family members.

Memories of Dad, My Daddy was one of a kind. He was fun, easy going and a riot to be with. He was very encouraging and always listened to our point of view and respected it. He had a amazing head for business. He was a brilliant strategist and a excellent planner.

About our Mentor

Dr. Venugopala Reddy

M

y memory takes me back to starting of my relationship with Dr. Reddy 32 years back. We started as friends who influenced my brother to buy Devagiri Farms land in Davanahalli which was located very close to one of his school mates lands.

In 1980, we became partners in one of the Hatchery project where all the responsibility of running this fell on both of us where I represented the company as official partner and Dr Reddy being an Govt official drove the business from background. I took his guidance at every level and that is where I learnt the way to negotiate, communicate and visualize business. He was always very aggressive, would think ahead and always planning the next step. Till almost 1995 i.e. till he directly joined our business, he encouraged me from behind to take forward every business vision he had in real estate business . With the help of some of our family members and friends we were able to start investing in real estate in Bangalore and this vision, negotiating skill of his had helped us in real estate business today. I have learnt lots of values in life from him. He was always polite, treated all staff with respect, did not hesitate to meet any one and negotiate deals, maintained good social relationship. He always warned me if I was going wrong any where and also always took my opinion before he went ahead with any major decision. This absolute trust and faith in each other took us along infinitely . We grow together as inseparable but as always the destiny will take us to where we are today.

He was very hard working and we often saw him work 16 to 18 hrs a day. What he did, he did with a lot of drive, dedication, gusto and panache. He was never afraid to take risks and had the confidence to bring the company out of any difficult situation. When situations became tough he often used to say "heavens won't fall, what is the worst that can happen?" and would go about resolving the matter in a Cool, Calm and collected manner. He considered Purnesh as his brother and was very protective of him and he loved him like his own. He had a lot of faith and trust in his staff, several of them whom he had personally handpicked and all of them were loyal to him and respected him tremendously. During our childhood, our dinner time conversations very lively and filled with opinions as he would encourage us to read current events and also the editorials of a least 2 major newspapers

before coming to the table to eat. He was a very good husband who treated my mother as his equal and often concurred with her before taking any major decisions. He loved good food and good scotch. He loved classical music and Hindi film music and we would often hear him whistle to 60's and 70's hindi songs. He was good son, a loving brother and loyal friend. He was the best grandfather who pampered his grand children and gave them his full attention. He became a kid when he played with them. He was my mentor and my best friend. I miss the long walks we would take together in the mornings where we had conversations about life, current events, a good book which each had read recently, happening in our business etc. He always believed in me and I constantly sought his advice on everything and valued his input and opinions immensely. He would call me every day no matter how busy he was. Losing him has left a big vacuum in my life and in Classic Group too. But his values will always remain with me and his constant encouragement of "Manju, you can do it" will always resonate with me in every Endeavour I undertake. I love you dad and you will always be a part of me. I feel very privileged and proud to be your daughter.

Manjula Reddy

My Father, The Leader who inspired. My Father was a man who inspired. Everybody who interacted with him would feel inspired & reassured. He was a born leader & his leadership qualities brought him a long way, from the humble position of a veterinary doctor, to building a successful organization like Classic Group. My father always valued human assets more than any other & everybody who worked with him felt inspired to Lead and be responsible. He was the strongest pillar of our organization. His absence created a huge void & imbalance in our lives, but when we look within our selves, he has left within us very strong principles & values. Principles of honesty & integrity, values that inspire us in building his vision of an organization of “included growth. My father always believed in included growth. He has always guided people who worked with him, every long after they moved out of the organisiation. His generosity & willingness to help others has left a very strong good will for all of us. I trust that the principles, values & goodwill he has left behind in us are our greatest assets, and we all together can make Classic group an inspired organization. He remains in us, always. - Naveen Venugopala Reddy

Twenty Million !!!! Two Million !!!! My impressions on a 27 -year relation! As a entrepreneur : Dr. Reddy was a strategist. His cool and calm handling of the toughest situation is a good learning for all. This quality helped him to find a solution for any problem. A very aggressive entrepreneur who experienced success. As a human being: Very lovable and friendly with all his contacts, be it office staff, friends, family members. As a friend : He was remarkable. Loves to draw anyone into discussion on business, politics, movies or any subjects for that matter. Cerebrally he was very superior. One needs to be really smart to handle his arguments / views. A good evening with him will have the above as part of the menu. SV (Venki)

Twenty Million !!!! Ten Million !!!! Yes! Pernod Ricard reached two mile stones at one shot! Twenty Million Cases in all and Ten Million Cases of Royal stag!! A great achievement indeed. Hearty congratulations to Team PRIPL from Classic Kutumba! Naturally there was celebration in Hyderabad @ Hotel Novotel when all the senior team of Pernod Ricard (India) Pvt. Krishna, Vice President Sales and Marketing, to mention a few not to speak of the sales staff and Promoters' representatives of Southern Region. Classic Alcobev was represented by Purnesh, Venkatesh Gowda, S. Venkatesh and Rathnakar.

My association With Dr. Reddy is almost Three Decades. From day one till his last day I saw him calm and composed right through.

There was good camaraderie, music and good food. The pictures aside will vouchsafe the aforesaid statement.

When I came to Bangalore from my plantation to start the first generation business, he was instrumental to make my dream come true. He had been a good strategist and achieved literally what he wanted in a systematic way. He had a readymade solution to all the hurdles that came on the way. He had been a good mentor to me and I will cherish the memory of our association for the time to come. Venkatesh Gowda - Director

Our Mission 12

Colorado, USA

Manjula Reddy is a Licensed Realtor in the State of Colorado USA. She had to go through a demanding and intense course work at a premier Real Estate school in order to fulfill the course requirements for licensing. She realized during the course that the Indian and American Real Estate Laws and practices were very similar as both of them were emulated on the British system. Her on- the- job knowledge of Real Estate due to her role as Director of Marketing and Administration at Classic Properties, and the knowledge of the legal practices gained from mentor and Father Dr. Reddy added a lot of value during the course of the study. She secured 98.6% at the state level and 93% at the national level exams to obtain the License. She is currently a Broker Associate at Colorado Future Real Estate - a firm based in Boulder Colorado. She continues to hold the position of Director of Marketing (overseas) here at Classic Group.

The aim of the program was to help prepare a feasible business plan, which would be the first step with all the required research for each individuals business.

It was also a happy situation to welcome Avinash and Sandip to take over the mantel. Good luck to them too.
