Dance Academy (dasevenoaks) was established by Margie Rice in 2008 and offers various classes for all ages at all levels of training. With a team of specialist teachers, the students are taught at the highest level whether it be RAD ballet, ISTD Tap and Modern, “proper” street jazz classes, contemporary dance or musical theatre. Adult classes offered include ballet, tap and a fun new Zumba class. Performing Arts Recently launched Firefly Dance School provides a fun and relaxing environment for children to learn. The founder, Carla Nicholson is a well known and established dance teacher and choreographer in the South-East and London. Firefly Dance School offers R.A.D Ballet and I.S.T.D Modern & Tap classes from 2 1/2 years & upwards. The classes consist of teaching the fundamentals and syllabus of each chosen technique whilst installing the love and passion for dance through having fun. Monty’s truly is unique…and this is confirmed again and again by mums and nannies who join Monty’s having attended other music groups. Some comment on the warmth and atmosphere, some on the professionalism (“why isn’t Monty’s on TV?) and some on the quality and range of the props and instruments but they all seem to agree that the highly colourful and visual element of children’s theatre in each Monty’s session is exceptional. To delight a child, you must be able to enter their world and light their imagination and at Monty’s Music, entertainment is the key! Once a child is enthralled, they will learn the most in the best way possible and love the whole musical and movement experience! From the moment Monty is woken up and pops his head out of his kennel, the excitement begins. From little ones, as young as 6 months, eyes are glued to Monty and frequently little arms and hands start waving in anticipation! Every session has an exciting theme, and is
carefully structured to give a great variety of up-beat children songs, nursery rhymes and children’s classics. To keep the grown-ups from groaning (!), the variety of over 300 songs are used at Monty’s and every term you take home a new free CD containing over 50 songs. Add to this a huge diversity of instruments, a visual extravaganza (including dry ice machines, bubble machines, puppets and motorized props) stimulating movement, action rhymes and dance and the essential element of dramatic children’s theatre and you have something pretty special! Class size is very small and in age-bands and as many of you will know, for some time the waiting lists have been somewhat lengthy! So GOOD NEWS! Toddlers Music Talking Tots is a unique activity group for pre-schoolers that uses games, rhymes and interactive activities to help build social confidence, communication and encourage toddlers to develop important skills that will give them a head start in the classroom. “Our sessions are so much fun, children won’t even realise they’re learning,” says Talking Tots class leader Jane Parker. “They’re playing and making friends, but at the same time they’re learning to listen, take turns and work as part of a group.” Classes will run on Tuesday mornings at The Camden Centre, Tunbridge Wells and are open to children from 12 months to four years of age. What’s New ‘Mummy and Me Ballet’ is the brain child of Alice Burren. After recently starting a family Alice started attending various classes with her son. After a few classes in a variety of activities it was clear to see the benefits and value of Mummy and Baby classes. Little ones can interact and learn from each other, whilst building confidence and mastering new skills. Alice also found it a great way to meet other parents and make new friends. So it didn’t take long for her to ask herself why her successful dance school didn’t offer classes until children were 2 ½ years old!...... ‘Mummy and Me Ballet’ was born! With the emphasis on having fun, both boys and girls will be sure to enjoy the challenge of learning their first steps in Ballet. With the support of Mummy there to guide and encourage them they can start to appreciate dancing to different music with exciting props.
Talking Tots is a unique activity group for preschoolers that uses games, rhymes and interactive activities to help build social confidence, communication and encourage toddlers to develop important skills that will give them a head start in the classroom. “Our sessions are so much fun, children won’t even realise they’re learning,” says Talking Tots class leader Jane Parker. “They’re playing and making friends, but at the same time they’re learning to listen, take turns and work as part of a group.” Classes will run on Tuesday mornings at The Camden Centre, Tunbridge Wells and are open to children from 12 months to four years of age. What’s On New Outdoor Ice Rink for Royal Tunbridge Wells Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is delighted to announce details of the 2011 Royal Tunbridge Wells Ice Rink. The new ice rink will be in the picturesque Calverley Grounds this Christmas. The real ice rink, supplied & managed by Cousins Entertainment Ltd, promises to be an essential winter experience and great fun for all ages and abilities and will include parent and toddler sessions, entertainment in the form of themed nights, sponsors’ evenings and spot prizes for the best skater and the best ‘Bambi’ on the ice. The ice rink will be open from Saturday 26 November (excluding Christmas day) until Monday 2 January, with a special launch event on Friday 25 November. The rink will be open from 9.30am till 9.30pm, last session will be at 8.30pm excluding Christmas Eve.
