2012 was proof that KR quads are here to stay. WCT champion, Joel Parkinson rode predominately 5 fin set ups thought the victory year putting a multitude of quad variations to the test. After a 2nd place finish in Tahiti in 2012 using the JP quad, Joel soon realised that further exploration of the quad configuration had value. Together with KR Joel began developing ideas to take it to the next level. Pro surfers now find themselves adjusting between thruster and quad set up based on conditions and the transition can be vital. It soon became clear that if KR could create a trailer template to compliment the teams favourite signature front fins, the transition between thruster and quad would become seamless during events. By the end of 2012 Joel had found the magic set and we began sampling for the other team eager to use quad trailers back with their signature fins. Now in 2013 the Quad trailers are in frequent use by all our riders, most notably Joel winning the Bali pro with the M-L and Ace Buchan’s win at Tahiti on the S-M template. After 18 months in development, KR are proud to announce the launch of the new KR Quad TRAILERS.

SML-MED This Template is a scale down of the Joels Favoured template and suits a lighter rider or smaller waves. This template was used by Ace Buchan with JP-5 fronts in his 2013 Tahit Victory.

Vertical carbon strands add control from base to tip along the leading edge, this technique allows the back half of the fin to twist for additional acceleration out of turns. We have also increased the surface area of 3k carbon in the base offering added sup80-100 kg or 175-220 lbs.
The JP-5.0 has been carefully re-scaled and adjusted to precisely replicate the larger JP-5’s performance for lighter or less powerful surfers. Recommended for surfers between 55-75 kg or 120-165lbs.
The new arrival of the JP-5.1 completers the Parko Signaturerange, giving a wide variety of surfers the oportunity to ride the most popular ever template in the kinetik racing range. Recommended for surfers between 55-75 kg

2014 welcomes ACE BUCHAN to the KR team with the launch of his new AB-ONE. AB-ONE is the ideal template for medium weight surfer’s harnessing Aces famous speed and on rail performance.

Dusty’s blend of innovation and Hawaiian style power surfing led KR on the hunt for a new all-round performance template. The DUSTY P signature fin has medium size dimensions with a little more rake than most giving added drive. This rake combined with a reduction in base width allows the fin to pivot and release while maintaining its speed.
DUSTY-P Its carbon placement is critical to the balance of the fins characteristics. The added height of the 3K carbon extends the strong “backbone” of the fin to ensure stability and controlled flex. Suitable for all medium weight surfers, the DUSTY PAYNE template will be a favourite for average to good conditions.. Recommended for surfers between 65-85 kg or 145-185 lbs.

The AI-2.0 and 2.1 are not only both enhanced with CARBOTUNE construction but the addition of an even stiffer and stronger carbon base. This large weave, 12K carbon works especially well with this new template to provide the perfect balance of flex, drive and release. Both sizes are developed to replicate the same characteristics in their weight category.

Although the introduction of KR Trailers has changed the original perception of quad fins the specifically designed “sets” are still as alive and valid as ever before.
