Welcome to the first Castle Hill Open Day, we hope you enjoy the day For talks and tours please meet at the information marquee in St Peter’s churchyard. Places are limited so please arrive in good time. Most talks are running twice.

All Day Events:

• Free entry to all venues collect your voucher for entry to the Folk Museum from the information marquee (last entry to Kettle’s Yard house and Folk Museum at 4.50pm) • For families: drop in activities led by artists from Irregular Circle (Kettle’sYard & St Giles’), toys and treasure trail (St Giles’), handling collection and natural history packs – with thanks to the University Museums of Archaeology and Anthropology, and Zoology (available in the Information Marquee), all 12-4pm Refreshments available at the Folk MuseumTea Room, a pop up cafe outside Kettle’sYard & St Giles’ Church Picnic areas: St Peter’s churchyard, St Giles’ grounds. Indoor picnic area: St Giles’ Disabled toilets & baby changing available at St Giles’ & Kettle’s Yard

Open Day begins: opening prayer by Rev Dr Janet Bunker and music by Clare Finnimore, principle viola player with Britten Sinfonia in St Peter’s Church & Kettle’s Yard

12.15-2.20pm •

Meet the archivist: an opportunity to look at and learn more about letters from the Kettle’s Yard archive with Dr Claire Daunton. Kettle’s Yard house

1pm •

Roman Cambridge tour with Alison Dickens, Senior Archaeological Manager at the Cambridge Archaeological Unit, University of Cambridge (repeated 3pm)

1.30pm •

The Smallest Church in Cambridge: a history of St Peter’s Church and the area by Honor Ridout, Blue Badge Guide & local historian (repeated 3.30pm)

2pm • ‘2,000 years in 45 minutes’ tour with Blue Badge Guide & local historian Allan Brigham (repeated 3.50pm) 2.30pm •

Introduction to St Peter’s Church with Peter Aiers, Head of Regeneration at the Churches Conservation Trust
