The Rise and Fall of Joe “King” Oliver Joe “King” Oliver’s rise and fall comes to life through his personal letters, read by stage legend William Warfield. Cornetist Leon Oakley and tubist Mike Walbridge join the Jim Cullum Jazz Band to turn up the heat with 1920s classics.

Fats, Hoagy and W.C. Handy: Music Made in America The Jim Cullum Jazz Band is joined by Vernel Bagneris, Topsy Chapman and Shelly Berg to play tunes from Fats Waller, Hoagy Carmichael and W.C. Handy. It’s an unforgettable hour of red-hot jazz.

2/16 Hearts Afire: A Riverwalk Jazz Valentine Dim the lights, snuggle up to your Valentine. The Jim Cullum Jazz Band and their special guests have a concert of love songs — from happy to sappy to snappy.

*2/23 Feelin’ the Spirit: The Luis Russell Story The Jim Cullum Jazz Band returns to San Antonio’s Pearl Stable with pianist Dick Hyman and vocalist Catherine Russell, daughter of Luis Russell, whose early recordings are considered classic examples of early swing music.

THE ANNALS OF JAZZ WITH RICHARD HADLOCK Sundays at 7 pm

The sound of surprise describes both jazz itself and the enduring premise of "The Annals of Jazz." Since 1959, host Richard Hadlock has been improvising on historical themes and bringing forth worthy performers—from Armstrong to Zorn. Each Sunday, we may find Annals in Europe, Asia, Latin America or Back of Town anywhere.
