My part in the music industry is something that is very important to me. Although I have not been trained to sing, the part I will play is getting information out to the public about artists and their music.

This caused me to dig deeper inside of why people listen to different genres of music. It is just like reading books. On certain days one would like to read one genre while on other days, they would like to read another.

DOWNLOAD: http://www.amazon.com/Born-to-Love/dp/B00C41RUYC Imagine a modern day soul singer who just happens to be classically trained pair that with a sultry sensuous vibe and ingenious lyrics and you will start to get a handle on Nina Rae. From URB Magazine to the Chicago Tribune, Nina Rae’s music projects have been described as jazzy, sexy, defiant, and enthralling, which makes Nina’s solo debut even more impressive. A debut solo release it may be, but Nina’s flow is timeless reinforcing the music of periods past from the genres of soul, jazz, and R&B. These genres influenced and help shape a sound that is futuristic, beautiful, and bold. Some of the singers Nina cites as influences are memorable…Nina Simone, Me’shell Ndgeocello, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holliday … and were considered ahead of their

time with haunting lyrics, inspiring melodies, and more. While the work of such notable artists helped to shape Nina’s style and her approach to musicianship, her love of Hip-Hop music, helped cement her organic approach to her lyricism, the music she chooses to record with, and the topics she chooses to sing about. The third oldest of eight children, Nina grew up listening to classic Motown and jazz artists such as Gladys Knight and Miles Davis. Her father, a painter and writer, and her mother, a singer, who once had the opportunity to share the stage with Chaka Khan, were constantly entertaining the family with stories from their childhoods. The dynamic of having a big family contributed greatly to her creative landscape and she was encouraged to pursue her talents seriously.

Nina’s solo release is entitled, “Born To Love.” The lead single, “Falling In Love,” was featured on Grammy award winning site, Soulbounce.com, Vibe.com, giantstep.net, and listed as having a “…great beat, great retro soul vibe, and great vocals make "Falling In Love" a nice treat for the Cont’d on pg. 32 ears.”

Songwriter’s ‘Human Kind’ Project Has Heart and Soul BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) songwriter Regina Dillard first began her journey as a songwriter over 15 years ago. Her first professional collaboration was on Living Word Christian Center’s 3-CD set music project, “I Believe”, whose title track was written by Dillard, with contributions to “In This Word” (“If We Confess Our Sins” and “His Name Is To Be Praised”). Dillard has also contributed original music for Anointed Harvesters Production of “The Dinner Party”, which she penned the title song. One of her other accomplishments was receiving the finalist award for the John Lennon Songwriting Competition (NY), an international songwriting contest. Her song “I Believe” placed in the Inspirational music category. In 2010, she contributed original music to the Black Harvest Film Festival Audience Award winning documentary, “On the Frontline: Taking Back Our Streets”, produced and directed by Grace Boyz Productions. It was through these music projects that doors would open for her to work with some of Chicago’s most prominent producers, specifically Morris “Butch” Stewart (The Oprah Winfrey Show, Tom Joyner Morning Show), who became her music industry mentor. Her relationship with Butch became the vehicle which allowed her to write for many other notable artists. In July 2013, Go Gee! Music announced Dillard’s plans to release her first indie project titled “HumanKind”, which has an anticipated release of December 2013. “Project HumanKind was

literally born out of my heart. Instead of writing for others, I decided to embark upon my own music project, a project that would speak directly to the human spirit .” Dillard adds, “For me, this is not just another music project...I'm not about writing more songs to add to my catalog. I want to use my music as a seed to be planted into hearts and minds. I want people to begin thinking about their everyday relationships, realizing we are all connected in some way. Dillard said, “I also want people to know they are not alone in their circumstances. Someone across the farthest reaches of the world or

someone as close as their next door neighbor is most likely sharing a similar experience. We are not islands…we were not created to be alone. I believe we were made to love, be loved and connect with each other. Essentially, I am leaving my heart's "thumbprint" on this project and I hope listeners will embrace this very personal work.” This eclectic and original music project will include music from various genres, including Pop, Country, Inspirational, Jazz, Reggae, Neo-Soul and Spoken Word. Project HumanKind has grit, heart and soul. Cont’d on pg. 32

HIGH

GETTING

IT'S TIME TO GET HIGH! Regardless of all the trials, heartache and pain you've been through. YOU will purpose over pain. YOU will and can succeed no matter how many times you failed. In most situations pain causes us to change our ways. Through it all YOU got what it takes to triumph in CHRIST. The SOVEREIGN LORD is your strength; He makes your feet like the feet of a deer; HE enables you to go to HIGHER heights. In HIS timing and season you will walk upon the HIGH places. You are covered by the most HIGH GOD, you dwell in the secret place of the most HIGH and abide under the shadow of the almighty. YOU are rising above and going HIGHER in spite of your trials, tribulations, and distractions. YOU are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath.

Karen Bouldin YOU are entreated with favor, this is your set time for favor, you are HIGHLY favored, so receive extraordinary favor! No MAN can DEMOTE you when GOD has PROMOTED you. No MAN can disordain YOU, when GOD has ordained you. YOU WILL SUBSTAIN! You are sitting HIGH in heavenly places in CHRIST, far above all principalities, powers, might and dominion. YOU are the righteousness of GOD, so it is OKAY to set your standards HIGH. People who really want to be in your life will rise up to meet them. YOU ARE A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD! Set HIGH goals, create HIGHER plans, climb the HIGHEST mountain, and when trouble arise don't tell the LORD to move this mountain BUT give you the strength to climb. GO HIGHER!!! Blessings abound, Evangelist Karen...

I am a Woman I am young, I am old, and I am beautiful and wise in my own right. My scars tell my story, my wounds share my fight. I am a woman. A thorough thinker and planner ahead, doctor, lawyer, teacher, preacher shall I go on. There are many positions that I hold. I am a woman. I've traveled to the stars and I fly planes. I protect my country and drive trains. I am a woman. I preach the Gospel to all nations, declaring the word of God to be true. I don't hide my views, I don't shun from the truth. When I give a message, I allow God to come through. I am a woman. Virtuous and anointed, my spouse's help. Mother to nations with much love to give some refer to me as Adam's rib. I am a woman.

I was met by angel declaring Jesus of Nazareth had risen. I ran to spread the message to all who would listen. Not well received, yet that didn't stop me. I shared the gospel with conviction and power; Jesus Christ is alive this very hour. I am a woman. I organized the escape of many slaves, when there seemed no hope. I let the power of God move me to lead a revolt. I am a woman. I am known for singing spiritual hymns with a powerful voice breaking the color code of my time. Riding the bus I tried to unwind, but was told to give up my seat. I decided enough is enough; I wanted to rest my feet. I am a woman. Many doubt and limit my gifts, but what God has given cannot be erased, I am history, I am present, I am future with hope. I am a woman.

Rapheal Ra Miller in DJ J Imani’s Studio

LIVE Interview Ra is in the studio to share with us about his hot new single “Submarine.” He is also featured in the single NINA with A-Way sharing information regarding their appearance at the BET network 106&Park Wild-Out. Ra is so humble that he honored me at the beginning of the interview. He’s spreading his musical talent right here in Chicago, Illinois performing from one venue to another. We are in the studio of DJ J Imani a premier DJ in Chicago. We are sitting in the brainstorming room where Jay Imani and Ra are working on Ra’s upcoming R&B mix tape. There are turntables and equipment setup to produce some of the best music and sounds.

THE INTERVIEW: Kathy: When did your music career start? Ra unsKrypted: That is such a loaded question. Professionally recording, probably started when I was 16 when I met Feloney Davis who took over the lead after RKelly divided with Public Announcement, but he was my mentor and the person that really groomed me. My mom said one night, “Come to the club.” I am about 16 years old in this club with all this craziness. She told me to get on the stage and perform and he (Feloney Davis) was there. All my energy and passion, [Davis] really felt. But, I would say since I’ve been singing in the choir at a young age nine, ten or eleven is when my music career really started. Kathy: Nine, ten or eleven and you’re sixteen in the club and we all know how against the law that is, but you were actually performing. I bet the adult audience was amazed seeing you perform at that age [saying] WOW look at him. Just imagine where he is going?

Kathy: Natural at writing script, writing music lyrics. Do you feel that music lyrics [are] like poems? When you really look at it. It is telling a story and it is somewhat rhyming but it is not. Do you feel that it could be a poem? Ra unsKrypted: All the time. The key with songwriting, you can take that poem or that script of life is what I like to call it. But the melody is everything. Yes the song writing is key but if you got a melody that is just infectious, then you get the trick done. I’ve been writing poetry when looking out of my window in Harvey seeing things that wasn’t so pleasant as a child…. In order to see the LIVE interview of Ra unsKrypted, click this link: http://youtu.be/PwRBoVTP9Fc

Ra unsKrypted: Absolutely. Kathy: So, what helped you decided to go in[to] this business? Ra unsKrypted: What helped me is being from a family of singers and musicians. It has always been around me with my mom who grew up with House music and she just fused me with it and soul music and every Christmas listening to Michael Jackson holiday CD just being submerged in music my whole life really sparked my interest in it, and I have always been natural at writing and performing.
