It’s All in the Name “Will” Hu ’12, Chengdu, China: My Chinese name is Zhongwei Hu. Wei could be considered a part of my first name. Wei’s pronunciation is similar to Wade. But my host family gave me an alternative, which is Will. I was struggling with which one to choose because I really admire the basketball player Dwayne Wade, but I feel that my basketball skills will never be as good as his and my future pathway will not be related to sports. Also, since my birthday is the same as William Shakespeare, I really wanted to pick the name Will because I’d like my future job to relate to literacy.

Several international students arrived escorted by a parent or in some cases, an extended family. Usually a Assorted Relatives bad idea, because the College cannot put them in dorm rooms, even temporarily. This year, with hotels filled because of Penn State’s opening weekend, some international parents had to bunk at Edgewater Acres, a local resort.

Room at the Inn Most international students stay for a few days with Huntingdon host families before orientation and room assignments. About 25 people locally offer to host students from other countries, often taking more than one.
