Veterans Memorial Park
• JMU is completing construction on a $9.5 million baseball and softball complex located next to Memorial Hall. • Games are scheduled to begin play at the start of the 2010 seasons. • Project will entail a $1 million indoor renovation that will include new space for offices, locker rooms, a team room, strength and conditioning, indoor practice facilities and batting cages. • Softball stadium will feature lights, press box, sunken dugouts and chair-back seating. • The new facility will be built on the same site as the old Veterans Memorial Stadium, which was opened in 1949. The stadium will retain the same name, in order to honor all foreign war veterans from Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. • Softball opening will be a March 17 doubleheader against Longwood.
