Born: Nov. 27, 1969 Year At JMU: 13th Graduate of: Marshall (Bachelor’s 1992) Hometown: Wilmington, Del. At JMU: In his 13th season directing the strength and conditioning program for the JMU football team… director of strength and conditioning at the Plecker Athletic Performance Center, where he also oversees programs for softball, lacrosse, field hockey, and men’s and women’s golf… joined the JMU staff soon after Mickey Matthews’ 1999 hiring as head football coach… works exclusively with the football team and is among only a few individuals in similar positions in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision… works with JMU’s players daily in a program to enhance their strength, speed, power, flexibility, balance and coordination… is assisted at JMU by Justin Jones. Before JMU: Graduate assistant in strength training at Marshall from 1994-96 and was a strength coach at Georgia until joining the JMU staff… standout nose guard at Marshall for four seasons… a captain on Marshall’s 1992 national championship team… graduate assistant strength coach for Marshall’s 1995 national finalist team, and Georgia appeared in two bowl games while he was a member of the staff there… played at Marshall and worked as a strength coach there and was a strength coach at Georgia while JMU coach Mickey Matthews coached in those programs. Personal: Received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and has completed continuing education courses at Marshall and JMU… member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, United State Weightlifting, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association… Strength and Conditioning Coach certified and certified by USA Weightlifting… married Proctorville, Ohio, native Nancy Hall, a Marshall and Medical College of Georgia graduate who is a nurse practicioner at Blue Ridge Women’s Health Center in Harrisonburg… they have two daughters, Alexandria (11) and Morgan (9), and two sons, Mason (7) and Colin (3).

At JMU: In his 11th season as football equipment manager after being JMU’s basketball equipment manager for four years… is responsible for equipment maintenance, inventory and purchasing… organizes game-day and practice set up and works with the coaching staff to coordinate practice sessions… supervises a student staff and oversees transporting equipment to road-game sites… has been a certified equipment manager since June 2002 and is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association. Before JMU: Was head student manager under then JMUcoach “Lefty” Driesell in men’s basketball as a JMU undergraduate and was an assistant basketball coach at George Washington High School in Danville, Va., for five years. Personal: Received his bachelor’s degree in history… has sung the national anthem at numerous JMU athletics events and has recorded with JMU’s band, the Marching Royal Dukes… a member of the Virginia High School League’s umpire association… married Elizabeth Ann Tyler June 29, 2008… their family includes daughters Hannah Alicia (14), Elizabeth May (12) and infant Whitley Sarah.
