...The Roadmap of Life. The Cafe Vitae concept is based upon a map of the local region. Local vendors utilized in the cafe will be designated on the map. The map is also used to symbolize the path that one follows while charting their course through life with their career. It supports the resume building business. Combining these two elements allow for the branding to work in a unique way with the concept.
The exit doors are a modernized rustic barn door.

The counter area is designed in a modern yet rustic manner in keeping with the concept.
A collage of resumes are posted near the restrooms to promote networking.
A map of the Quad Cities transverses through the space enforcing the concept.
The graphic nature of the map is carried forward with the graphics for various areas of the cafe.
FIRST FLOOR PLAN
The exterior encourages interaction between inside and out. The angled glass walls set Cafe Vitae apart from the traditional shops in the area.

The second floor carries the map concept up through a two story volume space and allows to the map to explore the space along with the consumer exploring the upper levels of the cafe. A separate area which can be closed off with a revolving pivot door can be utilized for the resume building business or for special events to be held in the evening. The space is designed to be very transitional in nature.
The modern take on rough wood is used along to enhance the resume building business area.
Concrete flooring is used keeping in line with the highway concept. Cove lighting is used to highlight to designate the “roads� along the map and further enhance the highly graphic nature of the concept.
The bar is streamlined and provides a view of the activities below allowing for connections through the space.
A display of antique road signs carries the concept even further graphically.
