Some people prefer to actually stitch the button to their card but if you decide to glue it then sewing a little thread through the holes before you stick it on will look fab!

1. Button flowers are easy to make! Take 1 large button, 5 medium sized buttons and one small button.

Think of using something different such as ribbon, wire, lace or twine to thread through the button’s holes if they are big enough.

Buttons for children’s clothes sometimes come in all sorts of funky shapes and designs like cute little bugs or animals – keep you eye out for unusual ones that will match a card theme. ‘The fish on the sentiment flag is a button, I cut off the shank and used a glue dot to adhere it. There are so many really cute buttons that can be used for embellishments, you just need to have a little wire snipper in your stash of tools.”

2. Cut a circle of card the same size as the largest button and glue the medium sized buttons around the edge.

3. Glue the largest button on top of this and then the small one in the centre – a quick button flower!

A quick card for triplets – peas in a pod!

Instead of just using buttons as embellishments, why not make them the star of the card? Follow these simple layouts and ideas to make lovely button themed

This works well with many shapes, draw out an outline and simply fill it with buttons. Start with the largest buttons and then fill in the gaps with smaller ones – it’s a good idea to work out where you are going to place them all before you start gluing! Try using the same colour buttons but uses lots of different shades – a mixture of creams and whites look really lovely. Different shapes you could try are butterfly, initials or numbers, car or a hot air balloon – just use your imagination!

A quick but fun Christmas card! Simply draw the strings and bows with a black marker onto your card stock and glue on brightly coloured buttons to make some festive baubles.
