Early Childhood Center The early childhood years are a crucial stage in a child’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. It’s when children need high quality care and learning experiences. The J’s Early Childhood Center provides such care and education that embraces the development of your child – mind, body and soul.

Infants & Toddlers

6 weeks - 2 year-olds Starting as young as six weeks, our infant and toddler classrooms provide a caring and nurturing environment. Our professional educators, along with our families, provide high-quality, individualized, responsive and stimulating experiences that will influence your child’s growth and learning experience.

3 - 5 year-olds Our teachers deliver positive learning experiences to foster children’s intellectual, social and emotional development. We help children build cognitive skills, preparing them for success in multiple academic areas, including reading, math and science. Learning Pre-K Academy

3 - 6 year-olds

Pre-K Academy offers play classes that teach reading readiness skills and letter writing. Children participate in brain-building games that help develop focus, working memory, and impulse control. Letter Engineers

Come build letters with us! Students will begin to explore their creative sides by using materials such as sensory trays, puppet pencils, finger flashlights, and letter sticks to learn all about letters and sounds! Children will learn many essential pre-reading skills such as syllable segmentation, rhyming, phonological awareness, and correct letter formation.

Reading Rock Stars

This class will have your child rocking and rolling into the world of language and literacy! The Reading Rock Stars curriculum uses a multi-sensory, very explicit, systematic approach to teach phonemic awareness. Children will learn how to orally blend and segment words, identify rhymes, segment syllables, and more. Our educational learning props make getting the brain ready to read fun and engaging. Tippi Toes Dance Company® Ballet, Tap & Jazz Combo Class

3 - 5 year-olds Experience the joys of dance, self-expression and movement through three types of dances with energetic music, culminating in a mini recital. Students should wear comfortable clothing (T-shirts are great) or dance attire along with nonrestrictive shorts or leggings – ballet shoes preferred, but not required (tap shoes not required). Basketball Training League

4 - 5 year-olds Specifically designed for kids enrolled in Pre-K, this league starts with practices where players focus on learning how to shoot, dribble, pass and have fun playing as a team. The season concludes with games. Teams are coached by volunteer parents and consist of up to eight players. Games will be played at either J location. Players receive full uniform and trophy. 3 - 4 year-olds A parent-child development program created to prepare youngsters for organized sports. J Soccer – Playtime

2-3 year-olds

This is a parent/child participation program which will have many activities that directly relate to motor skill development. Each class will consist of interactive games with the use of many different props. “First Touch Interactive Storytelling” will help the little ones understand participation, sportsmanship, sharing and team concepts along with the basic skills of soccer. Run by CORE Soccer Training. J Soccer – First Touch

4-5 year-olds This is an introduction to soccer with our main focus on balance, coordination and the understanding of how the body moves. Aquatics GET FISHY WITH J SPLASH ACADEMY! MORE LEVELS, MORE CONFIDENCE, MORE FUN The J’s fun swim lesson program is a hit! J Splash Academy is an all-encompassing swim program, designed to create confident, strong, life-long swimmers of all ages, starting at six months. Instructors are trained to offer compassion-based instruction, positive reinforcement and encouragement each step of the way. We have more opportunities for skill level progression, regular feedback and accomplishment awards. Splash Academy consists of three broad areas: 1. Introduction to Water & Water Safety Skills 2. Join our swim team transition program for younger swimmers who have graduated from the J Splash Academy and are interested in joining J Sharks. Swimmers continue to develop skills with instruction on stroke technique, endurance and sprint drills, and will be introduced to legal racing techniques including turns, starts and finishes.

British Swim School

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with the British Swim School to teach lessons at the Marilyn Fox Building in Chesterfield. The British Swim School (BSS) has been dedicated to teaching water survival skills to children as young as three months for more than 40 years. Like the J, BSS believes it is mission-critical to teach children to swim and to be safe while enjoying the water. With its large instructor base and our large pool, we can serve even more families in the Chesterfield area. Guided by early childhood educators, activities are catered to our youngest campers. Campers staying for the afternoon will be given a rest period.
