How to make:

Gingerbread Stoner Cookies

Provided by: Tucker Eldridge

Ingredients Needed: 3 ¼ cups sifted all-purpose flour (add 2 tbsp for altitude) ¾ tsp baking soda ¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) unsalted cannabis butter (room temperature) ½ cup dark-brown sugar, packed 1 tbsp ground ginger 1 tbsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp ground cloves ½ tsp ground nutmeg ½ tsp salt 1 large egg ½ cup molasses

Directions: 1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, and spices. 2. Using an electric mixer, mix together the cannabis butter and sugar, and beat until fluffy. Then mix in egg and molasses. Gradually add the flour mixture. Divide dough into three equal portions and wrap each in plastic. Chill overnight. Before rolling out the dough, let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. 3. Preheat oven to 350°F. 4. Place a portion of dough on a piece of lightly floured parchment paper. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick. Refrigerate again for 5-10 minutes to make it easier to cut out the cookies. Use either a cookie cutter or place a stencil over the dough and use a knife to cut into little gingerbread men. 5. Move to ungreased baking sheets. Bake until crisp but not darkened, 8 to 10 minutes. Let sit a few minutes and then move cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Happy Holidaze Great Cannabis Gift Ideas By: Alvin Dy For many, Black Friday leaves people wanting. After buying more flat screen TVs than any person can use in a lifetime, consoles and DVDs, clothes that the giftee will never wear, and random junk that will fade from memory only months from now, some wish for a more creative and inventive gift to give. Why not give cannabis-inspired gifts to special people on your list? At the very least, it would elicit a chuckle from your recipient. You would also be giving something that is both unique and memorable. Don’t know what to get? Here are some ideas:

Art with Marijuana Smoke

If you have a friend who is an avid art lover, you might want to see the latest works of Brazilian artist Fernando de la Rocque. De la Rocque has recently mounted an exhibit aptly titled “Blow Job - Work of Blowing.” De la Rocque used marijuana smoke in the portraits he created, most of which depict political and religious figures. Through this controversial method, the artist is trying to challenge Brazil’s marijuana policy. It is illegal to smoke marijuana in the country. Having revealed his secret material, the artist was still able to put his exhibit up in Rio de Janeiro. If you want to buy some of his work, be sure it is for a very dear friend, as each print is allegedly selling for at least $2,500.

Wear Your Marijuana

According to Wikipedia, hemp refers to marijuana that has low THC levels. But did you know that hemp has been used

for other things such as ropes, fabrics and even sail canvas? Hemp fabric is very soft, very similar to cotton in feel. It is also very durable, making your hemp clothing last longer. Hemp Traders, www. hemptraders.com, have different lines of hemp clothing. They also sell yarn, twine, and hemp fabric, along with other things. Check out their hooded sweatshirts, which are just perfect for the winter season because of their warmth and comfort. Or perhaps, you would love their combination of wool and hemp jacket? There is also hemp

jewelry available for you. Hemp Jewelry Shop, www.hempjewelryshop.com, an online retailer, has a lot of designs for necklaces, bracelets, key chains, guitar straps, bandanas and even bags and clothes. You can choose from literally hundreds of pieces. If you do not find anything you like or if you have a specific design in mind, you can always have something custom-made. That would, however, take a month or so to finish and get shipped, so if you want some custom jewelry, order now so that it would arrive in time for Christmas.

How about a Huggable Teddy Bear?

There are also 4:20 teddy bears available, like a cute and huggable teddy bear with a t-shirt saying “Plant Manager.” It comes in white, light pink and light blue. Probably not the best present for a child, but a great gag gift!

For the Pets

Did you know that the Associated Press found out that about half of all pet owners give their pets a gift for Christmas? If you are one of them, you can find some nifty marijuana-related gifts on Continues on Page 7

Christmas. Why wait? You can do it now, and it’s free! We’re talking about a mobile app called Cannapedia that allows you to identify different strains of medical marijuana. You can get access to a growing database of medical

cannabis. You can also submit your own photos and reviews. If you grow your own plants, you might want to get Grow Buddy. It can help you track every aspect of marijuana growing and gives you instant access to helpful reference ma-

burns and the future looked bleak, with a lot of surgeries and narcotics to keep the pain away. To his horror, his doctors told him that the narcotics they were using were losing their effect. He felt the pain and it was unbearable. When one of his doctors suggested an alternative, Reyes weighed the options between morphine addiction and the proven benefits of marijuana. It was an easy decision to make. He smoked and applied THC cream to his skin. The new medicine worked. Reyes began living a more or less normal life after the incident. He was discharged from the hospital after 129 days, 130 therapy sessions and 18 surgeries. At home, he managed to conquer intense pain, insomnia and involuntary muscle contractions with a marijuana-based cream. Since then, Reyes has been an outspoken ad-

vocate for medical marijuana. He showed his courage again in the fight against the San Diego County Board of Supervisors when it was questioning the legality

of California’s medical marijuana laws. Rudy Reyes has been at the forefront of fighting the Board and its efforts ever since. Through regular bids for a seat as a

MMJ — What’s It Good For? Spotlight on Rudy Reyes by: Alvin Dy

For nine days starting October 26, 2003, a wildfire raged through San Diego County, claiming the lives of fifteen people, damaging close to 3,000 buildings spanning over 280,000 acres. It is the largest wildfire in California’s history, and the deadliest. Rudy Reyes and his family were one of the many families living in the area. Although his family was able to evacuate to safety, Reyes was trapped and forced to walk through the fire line to escape. It was excruciatingly painful, but he came through the fire still conscious and very much in shock. He went straight to the road where a car stopped for him and took him to the hospital. Reyes fell into a coma for two and a half months. When he woke up, Reyes found that more than 70% of his body was badly burned. He suffered third degree

Edibles in Review:

Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemon Drops! Fu-Qua Johnson Ganja Gazette

Hello everyone and happy holidays! I would like to start my review by thanking all the voters in Colorado for a job well done last month. Thank you for standing in line and taking the time out of your day to vote. We will keep you posted on all of the progress as time goes by and new decisions are made. Now, let us get back to the review for the month. I hope many of you had the opportunity to enjoy the chocolate bars from last month’s issue. The

word around the campfire is that the company now has a blueberry and white chocolate bar. I can’t wait to try it. This month, I tried a product that was new to me, and probably to many of you, as well. The makers are EdiPure, and they make an assortment of edibles from hard candy to gummy candy pieces. The candy I chose was the lemon drops, and I am happy to report that they are great! First of all, I really liked how the medication was divided up. With some hard candy edibles, you can never tell how much

medication is in each piece, but the makers of these lemon drops solved the problem. The bag contains 25 individually infused 10mg pieces. Do the math and the entire bag is a whopping 250mg of THC. I loved the taste of them as well. I couldn’t tell I was having a MMJ product because I couldn’t taste the medication, just lemons. I took these throughout the day and had a great experience. I got a lot done at work and didn’t feel over-medicated at all. I really enjoyed these edibles because I know

how much medication I was taking and still functioned at a normal level. Like many of you, I medicate to keep my pain at a very low level while still being a functional member of society. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for a discreet way to medicate in public but still get the pain relief you need. Try one of the EdiPure products and I think you

will be very surprised and happy with your selection. If you don’t like lemons, try one of their other flavors. Also, I would highly recommend placing this product in a safe place. They really look like regular candy, and they could be mistaken for them. Medicate with care, and I will see you guys next month. Have a wonderful and safe holiday!

We have added a new delight for you to savor...

Ambrosia Station The Ambrosia or Cannibis Caviar is created by taking the strain of your choice from our case, then its drizzled with hash oil testing at 88-90%THC and is topped off with a sprinkling of Keef (Sativa, Indicia or Mix) creating a very strong and potent high. If you are wanting a stronger, longer lasting high,

The Ambrosia Station will suit your needs.

GROW TIPS

Understanding pH By: Tucker Eldridge

The pH scale measures the level of acidity and alkalinity in a given substance. This measurement is done on a scale of zero to fourteen, with anything above seven being alkaline, and anything less than seven being acidic. Pure water has a neutral pH of 7, and its pH shifts with the addition of salts that form a solution. When growing plants, the pH of our water, our nutrient solution, and our soil impact the availability of each nutrient our plants need to survive and thrive. When checking our pH during the growing process, we want to make sure that we keep it within the acceptable range for the given media that we are using. In hydroponic media, this acceptable range is pH 5.8 to pH 6.2. While growing in soil, our model range runs from pH 6.2 to pH 6.5. Keeping within these ranges does not make all nutrients the most

available to the plant that they can be, but rather makes them available to the plant in the ideal ratios the plant needs for optimal growth. It is important to note that plants seem to flourish when fed at a range of pHs instead of at a very specific number; so if I am placing my nutrients into my reservoir, and they are drifting up over time, then I know that if I pH them to 5.8 they will move up and through my acceptable range as opposed to adjusting to 6.2 and immediately having it move out of range. PH is measured when growing using a pH probe. A pH probe is nothing more than a pH electrode attached to a voltmeter, which measures electrical charges in the solution, and converts them to a readable and consistent scale. These devices can be tedious to maintain, so always make sure that your pH probe

stays submerged in pH neutral solution when not in use, that your meter does not submerge in water completely, and that you clean and calibrate your meter as frequently as possible. These steps will prolong the life of your meter substantially, while also keeping your measurements as accurate as possible throughout that life. Once we have an idea of what our base pH is thanks to our meter, it is time

to adjust it to within our acceptable range. Most commercial pH adjustors are either potassium hydroxide for pH up or phosphoric acid for pH down. This is important to be aware of because these two substances will contribute to the PPMs of our solution. It is also important to be aware that if we add pH down to our solution and overshoot our desired pH, it is not in ANY way detrimental to our plants to adjust that same

solution back up using pH up. Combining these two substances does nothing but create WATER, and potassium phosphate, which accounts for your PPM jump. With a basic understanding of what pH is, how it is accurately measured, and how it is safely corrected, we can make sure our plants have everything they need at any given time to be as successful as possible.

Elsewhere on Marijuana Perhaps the problem with marijuana is that we see it in different ways. Just mention the words ‘marijuana user’ and see what immediately comes to mind. Bad movies and SNL skits have given us the impression that using marijuana is all about munchies and memory loss. But there is a different group of marijuana users. We are talking about patients who rely on marijuana to help them cope and manage their diseases and medical conditions. In Israel, the government is taking into consideration the countless number of people who need medical marijuana just to function normally. The Israeli government prohibits the recreational use of marijuana, but makes it legally available to more than 10,000 patients who need it. In the Middle Eastern country, medical marijuana is not the controversial issue it is in the USA. Surprisingly, for a highly religious and highly conservative society, marijuana use does not inspire debates based in moralism. In the United States, the issue is not necessarily about the medical benefits of marijuana, the issue is typically one of “morality.” For those against it, le-

galizing marijuana would mean letting potheads freely roam the streets, much like the way walkers roam the streets in The Walking Dead. It is like saying that watching porn makes rapists out of everyone. They paint the picture that legalizing marijuana would mean our children would be able to buy it from a 7-11 store at the street corner. For those concerned about the decline of society, they should look at Israel. Medical marijuana has been legal in Israel for close to two decades now. It was first legalized in the early 1990s for patients with cancer and those who deal with pain every single day like those suffering from multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. People with these conditions can smoke marijuana, drink it, or apply it to their skin. In all these years, statistics show that few are abusing the system. In a country with 8 million people, only 10,000 are a registered user, which is sometimes attributed to comparatively lenient policies. Israel has also proven that legalizing MMJ will squash the underground

economy. The government can regulate growers and plantations, much like they regulate mango plantations and apple orchards. This would mean that the products that come out in the market are much safer and up to certain standards. It also helps in advancing medical research. Israel’s largest marijuana grower, Tikun Olam, has just announced that they have developed a strain of marijuana without THC. THC is the chemical substance found in marijuana that gives you that feeling of being high, and gives you a psychoactive trip. THC is also suspected to make marijuana addictive, if it is at all. In short, legalizing marijuana helps the government conduct more research while also helping authorities know how to regulate it better. In countries where marijuana is legal, such as Israel, the government has made great strides in ensuring that access is easy for patients who need medical marijuana for treatment. It is just the humane and compassionate thing to do, which America’s federal government might want to take note of.
