Fall

Into Our Favorite Season

Located between the San Juan Mountains and the Uncompahgre Plateau, the Dallas Divide brings together epic mountains and a magnificent landscape that is inspiring to the eyes. Lacewing Ganja Gazette Like it or not, the season of bathing suits, sun tanning, road trips and sweat is coming to an end. Gradually, with the air turning crisp and cool as the days pass and weather turning against those folks trying to take in those last few days of sun, summer is moving on. The only thing left to do is embrace the fall, with scarves, jackets, and taking in the colors. Anyone with a pair of eyes knows that Colorado boasts some of the most beautiful vistas in the country, and no other season paints nature more beautifully than autumn. The most visual hint of the turning of the seasons, of course, is the fall colors. Science, as is typical for the field, has a

lot of conflicting theories for why trees change colors and shed their leaves, from protection from outside influences to conservation during the rough winter months, but the average Joe really only cares about one thing: the colors are exquisite! So before we get caught up in the holidays, like Halloween for the thrill-seekers and Thanksgiving for those grateful gluttons, we want you to feel free to take a moment out of your hectic lives to take a breath and look up. Grab your honey or the fam, pile into the ol’ minivan, don’t forget to pack the digital camera and some snacks, and check out some of these great leaf peeping locations. Colorado.com has a lot of great suggestions for Fall-Color Drives, from grounds that require booking a shuttle

to regular highways that happen to have a great view. Heading out on I-70 from Grand Junction to Palisade along the Colorado River has a spectacular view of the riverside cottonwoods. “At Colorado 65, head east and then south through more canyon country and up to the top of Grand Mesa, where glowing aspens stretch for as far as the eye can see.” They have several other recommendations for specific regions of Colorado, and the page is worth a look if a drive is the way you want to go. For great drives near Denver (because who has time to drive all the way across the state on short notice?), Denver. org has several options, and a convenient list of how long each drive should take. The Peak to Peak Scenic & Historic Byway, Georgetown Loop Railroad, and St. Mary’s

Glacier rank among their top recommendations. If you prefer to take to your feet and get personal with nature, the Galloping Goose Trail made the Top Ten RailTrails for Fall Foliage on Away.com. “The glow of the region’s famous aspen trees notwithstanding, this 20-mile-long trail is surrounded by the splendor of snowcapped Rocky Mountain peaks.” Located just southwest of Telluride, this is a great trip for someone dedicated to a day of hiking. Also highly recommended by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife are the Bobcat Trail in Rifle Falls State Park, South Rim Trail in Roxborough State Park, and the Soaring Kestral Trail in Cheyenne Mountain State Park. One of the crucial things to keep in mind about the fall colors is that they generally only

last about a week or so, as surprising as that may seem. September is arguably the best month in which to take in these sights, but going out every single weekend may not be an option for you. Definitely check out the Colorado Parks and Wildlife page for information on contacting the park or trail you want to go to about what the foliage looks like at the time. Most sites recommend picking a day you want to go, but not yet the location, because everywhere doesn’t change shades at the same time. Living in Colorado, a state whose name literally means “colored red,” it only seems appropriate that we take advantage of all the colors our home offers. Happy leaf peeping!

Edibles in Review: Yabba, Dabba, Doo....... Fu-Qua Johnson Ganja Gazette

Here we are with another review on a terrific edible available at Nature’s Herbs and Wellness. Before I dive into the review, I was really glad to hear that these edible reviews have helped many patients to try different ways to medicate. From staff members to patients, I have heard awesome feedback from the reviews I have written, so I thank you for reading the reviews and also, especially, for trying the edibles. This month, in honor of the end of summer, I tried the winner of Best Edible from Denver’s Cannabis Cup at the beginning of the season. Introducing the winner:

“Dabba: Premium Medicinal Chocolate.” It’s small, mint chocolate and medicated. Big things come it small packages, and thischocolate does just that. They come in two different levels of medication, from 200mgs to 100mgs. The 200mg chocolate comes in a “Hybrid” of THC, but the 100mgs comes in pure indica or sativa based. The bar can be broken up for the right level of medication forany patient. The chocolate can be broken up into five pieces, so, if you did

See you guys next the math, the 100mg and always chocolate is broken up month into 20mg pieces. Unlike remember to medicate many edibles, when you with care. breakthis chocolate up, you know exactly how much medication you are getting. No guessing on how much medication you just ate. So don’t be afraid to try this edible anytime because you, the patient, know exactly how much you need to take to be medicated and pain free. I took this bar throughout the day on my yearly trip to Estes Park. I really like this mountain town, especially the salt-water taffy at the candy shop. I could stand and watch the taffy puller all day long, especially if I’m medicated. My girlfriend and I had a great time walking around the town and eating lots of taffy. Don’t you worry readers, my lady has her red card. We ate pieces of the chocolate bars throughout the day and smoked every now and then. We both felt really medicated, but at a very functional level. We both agreed the chocolate tasted great, especially since I really love mint chocolate. It’s an edible we would try again very soon. So I suggest grabbing some chocolate and enjoying whatever you are going to do because I know you will really enjoy these edibles as much as I did.

to the success of any ganja garden is a

fresh supply of new plants. For the first few weeks of growth, Cannabis plants are small, take up little space, and don’t command as much attention as mature plants in full bloom. Looking further on down the line, however, it is the small plants that account for the future. Therefore, savvy growers will have a plan in place to make sure the crop is rotated correctly. Paramount to this goal is recordkeeping. A smart grower will know how many plants he has, how far along they are, how much longer they will need to be in vegetative growth in order to be large enough to move into the bloom room, how many new plants are needed and on approximately which date. Making a calendar or a spreadsheet of sorts to keep track of this inventory is a very good idea, and updating it frequently (say, every two weeks) is also very important. So, once a cycle is established according to the above and any other pertinent characteristics, the rest of the undertaking is a matter of pure logistics; how exactly are the new plants to be propagated? There are two options here, Cannabis seeds or Cannabis clones. Both of these options have their pros and cons, so let’s look at both.

The Falcon Ganja Gazette

Seeds

Cannabis Seeds Seeds offer the grower the advantage of starting anew. There is no worry about the new plant bringing in a parasite or fungal disease into the garden. The seedlings are “virgins,” if you like. Seeds are easy to start off; any source of moisture in any substrate is going to give the seed all it needs to grow. Seeds are also easy to transport, if a large quantity of plants are to be grown, it will ease in the process of getting the new plants started. One more advantage of seeds is that they are less finicky than clones are, in regards to the fact that they do not need a specialized humidity level or special enzymes, etc. in order to begin growth. Some of the disadvantages of using seeds are in their relative lack of predictability. While a given batch of seeds may come from the exact same parent plants bred in exactly the same manner, this does not necessarily guarantee that all of the seeds will come out with the same dominant

Huh, that’s weird... Laziness Made Us Probably Fat, and Laziness Never Clogs Will Make Us Slim Dr. Oliver Di Pietro of Bay Harbor Islands, Fla., is a leading prescriber of the “K-E diet” that offers desperate people drastic short-term weight loss by threading a feeding tube through the nose to the stomach and dripping in a protein-fat solution, as clients’ only “meals,” for 10 straight days. “Within a few hours,” Dr. Di Pietro told ABC’s “Good Morning America” in April, “your hunger and appetite go away completely.” Fat is burned through “ketosis,” he said, and a loss of 10 to 20 pounds in 10 days is possible. Such short-term loss might be important, for example, for a woman prepping for her wedding day. One client said she doesn’t have “all of the time on the planet” just to exercise, “so I came to the doctor.”

Architect Sou Fujimoto recently unveiled his public restroom (for women only, though) whose one transparencyenclosed toilet sits in a 2,160-square-foot private garden of cherry, plum and peach trees. The 6-foot-high-walled park is located beside a railway station in Ichihara City, east of Tokyo. Japan is a world leader in fanciful toilets, and Fujimoto said he thought the scenery would enhance the user's "feeling of release."

Very Efficient Criminal

William Todd arrived in Nashville, Tenn., on April 9 via Greyhound bus and faced a nine-hour layover. According to police, Todd committed at least 11 felonies during that time, one after another, with more charges still possible. Among Todd’s alleged diversions: shooting up a restaurant, setting it on fire, robbing four people at a bar, carjacking, breaking into a law office and defecating on a desk, trolling hotel rooms seeking theft opportunities, and stealing a taxicab and robbing the driver. Said a police sergeant, “I’ve never seen anything like this before.” He was finally captured at Opryland, where he had hidden by submerging himself in water up to his nose.

Huh, that’s weird...

Nice Mmm... Jesus Java Moves Britain’s ITV1 television network announced plans in April to accept “prop placements” to blend into production of its new reality talent show in which actors compete for the lead role in the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar.” The network said, for example, that it was seeking coffee machines, which piqued the interest of the De’Longhi brand manager, who offered its top-of-the-line Magnifica ESAM4200 and, according to its public relations firm, suggested perhaps interrupting the play’s climactic song “The Crucifixion” while Jesus savors a cup brewed from the Magnifica. An April report in London’s The Independent noted that the opera’s composer, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, was on board with the idea, but that the original lyricist, Sir Tim Rice, called it “tasteless” and “tacky.”

Least Competent Criminals Didn't Think It Through: (1) Eric King, 21, was leaving a store in Eagan, Minn., in February when a police officer in the parking lot noticed his pronounced waddle. King was arrested when the officer found a shoplifted 19-inch television set down his pants. (2)

In March, a 34-yearold Lithuanian-born man led police in Wiltshire, England, in a nighttime foot chase after he had aroused their suspicion. Thermal imaging equipment was used from a helicopter to spot the man in the darkness. He was arrested "hiding" facedown in a manure pit. (Though he originally fled, there was little evidence against him, and he was released.)

Kelly Ervin, 48, was arrested in Salisbury, Md., in April and charged with littering “under 100 pounds.” According to police, Ervin routinely goes for a run every morning at 4 o’clock, and just as routinely, has a bowel movement after about two miles. Most days, that puts him in a certain neighborhood, whose residents have been complaining. When questioned, according
