Residential M.A. in Women’s Spirituality ITP’s Women’s Spirituality Master’s is a two-year weekend program for women at a pivotal “crossroads” in their lives. The program is designed for adult learners who have a passionate interest in the historical, cultural, philosophical and theoretical roots of a women-centered spirituality as well as the practical applications inspired by their research, personal exploration, and creative expression. Transformative Learning and Community Engagement. At the foundation of the program are the values of transformative learning and student engagement in their local communities. Primary goals are to inspire social action and spiritual activism, as well as teach students how to think critically and work in ways that allow for personal transformation and consequent social change. Women-Centered Curriculum. The curriculum explores women’s roles in pre-history and history, women’s spiritual and religious leadership, women’s work in healing and social activism, and women’s contributions (ritual, literary, social, and artistic). The Sacred Feminine and the values of justice and equality associated with Her are explored in multi-spiritual traditions across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, the Ancient Near East/Middle East and Australia.

Program Highlights: • Advanced WomenCentered Studies • Two-year program (approx. one weekend per month) • Multi-cultural and multidisciplinary approach • Faculty leaders in women’s spirituality and spiritual activism • Experiential and transformative learning model • Supportive feminist community • Spiritual and creative immersion • Experiential community service project • Integration of scholarly research, spiritual practice, embodiment, activism, and the sacred arts • Optional Specialization in Creative Expression

Faculty Mentoring. Courses are presented in small graduate seminars using a cohort model and taught by leading practitioners in the fields of women’s spirituality and spiritual activism, including authors, scholars, artists and ritualists. Our feminist learning community offers dedicated mentoring, encouraging the development of new knowledge and theory. A completed thesis or equivalent creative project serves as the culmination of our students’ studies. Community Service Practicum. Each student participates in a 60-hour community service practicum of her own design which is intended to enrich her thesis research work and model a spiritually-grounded approach to scholarship and social change. The practicum may take place in a social service agency, a school, or other institution, or may be a series of workshops developed and offered by the student to the larger community.
