Nos levantamos cada día y sin darnos cuenta la vida transcurre con aparente simplicidad. Pero olvidamos una verdad básica: necesitamos buena salud tanto como las plantas necesitan buena luz.

We wake up everyday and without realizing it or thinking too much about it our lives go on in apparent simplicity. But we forget a simple truth: we need health like plants need light.

ace aproximadamente 9 años, un grupo de tres amigas argentinas eligieron como destino el Caribe Mexicano para vivir y emprender en sus vidas algo especial. Dejando atrás sus profesiones se dedicaron a entender la vida desde otros puntos de vista y fue precisamente aquí en donde no sólo ellas, sino también sus hijos encontraron magia e inspiración aunado a la tranquilidad que se respira en el mar y en la calidez de su gente. El concepto de La Troupe nació de la idea de reinterpretar el arte textil mexicano con sus tejidos y sus bordados, a la par de un proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje mutuo con las comunidades mayas, de esta manera se logran unir: arte, materias primas nobles y diseño innovador. En sus tiendas podrás encontrar una gran variedad de productos hechos a mano tales como: mantas, cojines, pies de cama, entre otros, los cuales son elaborados con cuidado y cariño, y confeccionados con materiales nobles como linos, algodones y sedas. También cuentan con artículos de diseñadores: joyas, zapatos y sombreros hechos a mano.

bout 9 years ago, a group of three Argentine friends decided to choose the Mexican Caribbean to live and make something especial in their life. After leaving behind their professional careers, they began to understand life from different points of view and it was here precisely where not only them, but also their sons found inspiration and charm, join to the quietness of the sea and the people’s warmth. The concept of La Troupe arose from the idea of reinterpreting the Mexican textile art with its woven and embroidered, join to a teaching-learning process with Mayan communities, therefore in this way: art, high-grade raw materials and avant-garde design are linked. In the shops you will find a wide variety of handmade products such as: blankets, cushions, blouses, etc., which are made with lot of care using good materials like cotton, silk and linen. Also, they have designer products: jewelry, shoes and handmade hats. With their philosophy of Fair trade that means to take care of “their” people, treat them with respect, make them feel important in what they do and pay a fair price for their job. Besides showing their human integrity, this group cares about the environmental preservation, that is why La Troupe in Tulum opened about one year ago in a recycle container of a ship-owner located within palm trees and using self-sustaining energy; the same in La Troupe 5th Av. when in 2012 the place was all designed with recyclable materials. The main goal of La Troupe is to satisfy the women who look feel unique, fresh, pretty and natural. The adventure has just begun, and their enthusiasm and commitment are to guide them to success by “their” people hands, in order to open new point of sale and grow in design and production techniques. The important part is that this little company is on the way.

LAS NUEVAS BODEGAS DE VINO EN MÉXICO MEXICO´S NEW WINERIES

éxico ha experimentado un acelerado crecimiento en cuanto a la industria se refiere. Cada año, nuevos proyectos se suman a los que ya existen y con esto, se enriquece la oferta. La producción de vino nacional ha tenido un incremento de 88% en los últimos 8 años, al pasar de 900 mil cajas anuales a más de 1,700,000. La industria vitivinícola está integrada por más de noventa bodegas y productores de uvas para vinos, donde casi el 80 por ciento se ubica en Baja California y el resto en Coahuila, Querétaro, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Chihuahua y Aguascalientes. En los últimos 10 años, se ha pasado de 50 a casi 100 empresas productoras de vino mexicano que, en conjunto, ofrecen más de 400 etiquetas de vino. Afortunadamente, la mayoría son proyectos serios, bien pensados y diseñados para aportar calidad a nuestra joven industria vinícola. Todavía hay mucho por hacer, pero es mi sentir, que definitivamente vamos en el camino correcto. No sólo hay nuevos proyectos en Ensenada y sus valles, también nos llegan nuevos caldos del centro del país. Querétaro ha hecho un gran esfuerzo no sólo en la creación de nuevos vinos, sino en la difusión de la cultura del vino y sobre todo, del consumo en México con sus festivales que acercan a una gran cantidad de gente a los viñedos por su cercanía con las grandes ciudades del centro del país. Aguascalientes y Zacatecas están lentamente integrándose al mapa del vino. Aunque les ha costado mucho poder salir de sus viñedos, hay un trabajo serio y comprometido, que necesita una mayor difusión para ser apreciado, y por ende, comercializado. En Valle de Parras, durante muchos siglos, Casa Madero ha sido el referente, y se lo ha ganado a pulso. Cada que se prueba uno de sus vinos, hay una calidad y una consistencia difíciles de lograr si no se está comprometido.

Although it has been hard for them to get out of their vineyards, there is a serious and committed work that needs to spread to be more widely appreciated, and thus, sold. In Valle de Parras, for many centuries, Casa Madero has been the benchmark, and it has earned this position. Every time you try out their wines, there is a quality and consistency difficult to achieve if you are not committed. Baja California is where the strength is concentrated in this industry. In recent years, different wine firms of excellent level have integrated. I firmly believe in the Wine industry of our country, I believe in the winemakers who make it up, because they are committed people to their place, their land and their country. Is not a matter of supporting just because it is my country´s wine, but to support quality requiring it from the winemaker and from the winery. It is a matter to demand more and better prices so that every day we have a better wine, better industry and especially a better Mexico. Remember: When drinking wine, choose Mexico!

uando el Club de Golf de El Camaleón abrió sus puertas en 2005, era obvio que el impresionante sitio estaría destinado a ser anfitrión de un torneo de nivel superior, y en 2007 hizo exactamente eso. Dos años después del debut del campo, el Mayakoba Golf Classic se convirtió en el primer torneo oficial del PGA TOUR fuera de Estados Unidos y Canadá. Ahora, con una nueva fecha en el calendario del TOUR (y con un sutil cambio de nombre) el OHL Classic at Mayakoba se está consolidando como uno de los mejores torneos – lo que debiera causar gran expextativa entre los aficionados al golf. 2013 marca el primer año en el que OHL Classic at Mayakoba, se llevará a cabo en otoño, Noviembre 11-17. Un ajuste cabe perfectamente en el nuevo calendario revisado del PGA TOUR, donde los primeros seis eventos de la temporada de 2014 se juegan a finales del 2013. Esto representa un cambio significativo, ya que se le otorga a OHL Classic at Mayakoba su propia semana en el calendario del PGA TOUR, creando la oportunidad para un campo más establecido. Two years after the club’s debut, its Mayakoba Golf Classic became the first official PGA TOUR event held on a golf course outside of the United States or Canada. Now, with a new place in the TOUR calendar (and a subtle name change) the OHL Classic at Mayakoba is establishing itself as one of the best tournaments anywhere—and golf fans should be excited. Formerly held in February and known simply as the Mayakoba Golf Classic, 2013 marks the first time the tournament appears in fall, from November 11-17. The adjustment fits the PGA TOUR’s revised “wrap-around” schedule, with the first six events of the 2014 season played at the end of 2013. It’s a significant change, because it gives the OHL Classic at Mayakoba its own week on the PGA TOUR calendar, creating the opportunity for a stronger field. Previously, the event was held opposite the World Golf Championships- Accenture Match Play, which kept the top 64 players in the world from heading south. Now, if they’re qualified and so inclined, those pros will be available to play at the Greg Norman-designed El Camaleón. The purse has grown to $6 million (with the winner earning $1.08 million), keeping the OHL Classic at Mayakoba at the top of the money in terms of Latin American golf tournaments, and the number of FedEx Cup points awarded to the winner rises to the full 500. Formerly, the victor earned 250 points toward the season-long competition. With OHL’s longstanding commitment to environmental integrity, El Camaleón and the OHL Classic at Mayakoba also serve as an example to the whole of the professional game in terms of environmental sustainability and responsibility. That, along with the beautiful setting and the fact that the tournament has raised more than $1.5 million for charity, are reasons enough to be excited about the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. And with the new spot in the schedule, the bigger purse and the opportunity for a stronger field, we’re excited to keep an eye on this tournament for years to come.

GTV estuvo en Playa del Carmen filmando para el próximo episodio del popular TV Show Americano “House Hunters International”. El programa sigue a familias en su búsqueda de un nuevo hogar para vacacionar en el extranjero. En cada episodio se muestran tres propiedades, una de las cuales es seleccionada por el posible comprador. En los momentos finales del show, el nuevo propietario ofrece un recorrido por la casa, revelando los cambios y / o mejoras que se hicieron después de mudarse.

GTV was here in Playa del Carmen filming for an upcoming episode of the popular American TV show “House Hunters International”. The program follows families searching for a new vacation home abroad. Each episode features three properties, one of which is selected by the prospective buyer. In the final moments of the show, the new owner provides a tour of the house, revealing what changes and/or improvements were made after moving in.

La filmación del episodio tomó lugar a finales de Agosto, siguiendo a la familia Pikoos en su búsqueda por la perfecta casa de vacaciones. Habiendo viajado a Playa por más de 10 años, la pareja, Darryl y Jen, finalmente decidieron adquirir un verdadero lugar para escapar de vacaciones con la familia. Después de haber visto varios nuevos desarrollos, la pareja finalmente decidió adquirir uno en “Nick Price Golf Course Condo Residences” ubicado en el desarrollo Grand Coral. Filming for the show took place the end of August, following the Pikoos family on their search for the perfect vacation home. Having traveled to Playa for more than 10 years, the couple, Darryl and Jen, finally decided to purchase a true vacation getaway for their family. After viewing many other new developments, the couple finally decided to purchase at the Nick Price Golf Course Condo Residences located in the Grand Coral Development. Darryl recalls, “Nick Price was the best choice given our list of requirements, offering us an opportunity to purchase brand new construction, at pre-construction prices, a secure and safe neighborhood that offered many amenities for our family including pools, golf and club house benefits, restaurants, a beach club, a great, quiet, and peaceful community that was very close to Playa.”

Trabajando juntos a distancia con su diseñador vía email, fotos, video y Skype, la pareja fue capaz de involucrarse en cada paso del proceso de diseño. Finalmente, después de 3 meses, la pareja regresó para ver el proyecto terminado y estaban más que encantados con los resultados finales. Después de trabajar con “House Hunter International” y haber conseguido la ayuda de un agente inmobiliario y un diseñador de interiores profesional, Darryl tuvo éste consejo que agregar a quienes estén considerando adquirir un inmueble, “Yo recomendaría al que busque adquirir una propiedad en Playa del Carmen, definitivamente verificar lo que está disponible y confiar en un agente inmobiliario. También recomiendo altamente trabajar con un diseñador profesional para amueblar la nueva propiedad. Dada la limitada disponibilidad de ciertos elementos de diseño y estilos de muebles, un diseñador puede ofrecer algunas soluciones creativas que sean asequibles y únicas”.

Living in Los Angeles, the couple initially had concerns after taking ownership as to how to furnish and complete their new condo given their distance. The couple decided to enlist the help of an interior design professional to design and furnish their new home. “We were fortunate to work with our designer, Jonathan James Berry of James Grey Interiors, a seasoned designer who took our vision and turned our dream into a reality. Jonathan took the task at hand and made this a simple, enjoyable and exciting process for us with amazing results.” Jonathan James, the principle and design director for James Grey Interiors, describes his philosophy on design, “I apply what I refer to as, my “F-A-L approach to design” on every single project. My “F-A-L approach to design” is “Fresh – Affordable – Luxury”. Fresh – using pops of color, personality, and the exotic and unique. Affordable – being budget conscious; maximizing the style without breaking the bank. And Luxury – delivering the highest in quality goods and material; believing every client deserves to be surrounded by the best, and have moments of decadence and luxury within any budget. Using my wide range of sources for quality materials, I was able to deliver the project on budget and on time, with an incredible result.” After meeting together for only a week, Darryl and Jen Pikoos enlisted the help of Jonathan James and his “F-A-L approach to design”. Working together remotely with their designer via email, photos, video, and Skype, the couple was able to be involved in every step of the design process. Finally, after three months away, the couple returned to see the completed project and were more than thrilled with the end results. After working with “House Hunters International” and enlisting the help of a real estate and interior design professional, Darryl had this advice to add to those considering purchasing, “I would recommend that anyone looking to purchase property in Playa Del Carmen, to definitely do their homework on what is available and to use a licensed real estate broker. I would also highly recommend the use of a designer for furnishing a new property. Given the limited availability of certain design items and furniture styles, a designer can provide some creative solutions that are affordable and unique.”
