To round out 2020 with the Inglis Ready2Race Sale becoming the highest-grossing 2YO Sale in Australian history is something we all took confidence from and as I write we have just completed a record-breaking Inglis Classic Yearling Sale which grossed in excess of $58.4m, a near 25% increase on the gross of the 2020 Sale. We are very excited by the opportunities that our Breeding Stock Sales Series for 2021 will present for people looking to sell and take advantage of what promises to be a strong market. Over the last two years, Inglis is responsible for three of the four highest-priced pregnant mares sold at auction in Australasia, as well as the highest-price realised for a weanling at auction in Australasia. Race fillies and mares at our Chairman’s Sale over the last two years have averaged in excess of $545,000, while the average for pregnant mares at that sale in the same period is in excess of $405,000. These are extraordinary figures and if you have quality breeding stock to offer for sale that you feel can benefit from the unprecedented levels of marketing that we do in preparation for the sale, then the Inglis Chairman’s Sale is the sale for you and your stock. The regular angst and uncertainty around state borders mean that the Australian Broodmare Sale, hosted at Riverside Stables in May, and the Great Southern Broodmare Sale, hosted at Oaklands in June, are sales that must be considered carefully for discerning vendors. Make life easy for yourself by selling at home, without concern for any border restrictions, into the markets that contain the majority of the major investors. Particularly in the case of pregnant mares, the convenience of offering mares locally, with ease of travel, should be a significant factor when finalising your decisions. In a significant boost to vendors, we have reduced our sales commission for these sales from their already competitive levels. In 2020, Inglis generated 54% of turnover for the weanling market at live auctions in Australia, a 39% growth in market share year on year. Two of the three highest-priced weanlings sold in Australia in 2020 were sold by Inglis. Those vendors who have used our weanling sales over the last couple of years in particular have been handsomely rewarded. We are working towards our 2021 Weanling Sales Series, across the Australian Weanling Sale in May and the Great Southern Weanling Sale in June, being our best yet and I encourage you to be a part of that. Many of the advantages outlined in respect of our broodmare sales, including reduced sales commission, also apply to our Weanling Sales Series.
