IPL 500 Festival PARADE
A spectacle to see One of the original events produced by the 500 Festival, the IPL 500 Festival Parade has grown to be one of the signature events held in the United States each year. Held on May 24, the eve of the Indianapolis 500®, 300,000 spectators from around the country will line the streets of downtown Indianapolis for one of the nation’s premier parades, alongside the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. For the past 57 years, the Parade has been a pillar of Hoosier culture in the 500 Festival event line-up. In addition to a spectacular live event, the Parade is broadcast nationally on NBC Sports Network and locally on CBS affiliate WISH-TV. The Parade features larger-than-life floats, celebrities, marching bands, patriotic and specialty units and giant helium balloons. In addition, the IPL 500 Festival Parade has a distinction that no other parade has — the starting line-up of the 2014 Indianapolis 500® riding in the traditional rows of three.
