Brian Wright ’02 I found my passion–it’s giving people peace of mind about their finances. Before, I was the student who got As and Bs, sat in the middle of the classroom, and didn’t raise his hand much. I played in a cover band on weekends. My freshman self would probably say I have now turned into my dad, but I would punch my freshman self and tell him that it’s AWESOME and he’ll love it.

Mitch Lathrop ’10 By being willing to slog around in the fountains at Disney and re-wire the lighting! You’re not going to start out with a shiny desk and everything you’ve ever dreamed of. But people will be watching when you’re asked to do the job nobody wants to do. They’ll see how you behave and react. And they’ll reward you.

Mitch Lathrop ’10 There’s nothing worse than not knowing what you want to do. Take the time to search inside yourself. Have a serious conversation with yourself about what is going to make you happy after college. (Hint: It’s not partying.)

Noma Gurich ’75 Sometimes you want to give up—many tears and restless nights are all part of the process.

Mitch Lathrop ’10 Never spend time on things that you aren’t passionate about. Yes, we all have to do our taxes and pay our bills. But take time to enjoy the scenery and work on things that make you happy. Keeping a balanced life is key to being successful and happy.

Noma Gurich ’75 By making friends of my enemies. I found that the way to fight back was to never fight. I always tried to approach even the toughest opponent with kindness and generosity and with a professional attitude.

Doug Huntsinger ’04 First, go to class. What you learn as a student lays the foundation for a career. Second, volunteer. Had it not been for my volunteering I would have never had the opportunity to take a full time job. Finally, there is no substitute for hard work.

Kelli Whitaker ’10 A big challenge is time! There is never enough time in the day to teach everything I want to teach. I have just learned to prioritize the needs of my class by using data and purposeful planning.
