1. Look at the subjects that are being offered in the college In reality, the college does not matter, but the subjects. A good college is like a springboard for an athlete. But that is not the end of all endeavours. Finally your performance counts at every step on your career ladder. 2. Look at the college itself After having opted for a particular subject or subjects go for the college that will suit to your needs. Do not put the cart before the horse. Look at the Alumni of the college Alumni of the college can give greater visibility to the college. Alumni are the strength of the college. They can help you with regard to admission to the college. Illustrious alumni attract good students to the college. Some do join the college because of the track record laid by the alumni of the college. Look at the geographical location of the College Those who have been in metros like to be in a quiet and country side, while the others, prefer to be in busy environments. As a matter of fact, what counts is the faculty and facilities. In the final analysis, it depends on the subjects as well. Courses that require, immediate surrounding throbbing with activities should choose metros and cities. Look at your peer group who are joining the college A great peer group can form you as much as your faculty does. The quality of the educational institution to a great extend depends on the quality of the students or the peer group. Competition can be tough in places where the peer group is brilliant, focused and motivated. Look at the faculty of the college Often the students do not pay much attention to this aspect of their choice of educational institution. They go by hear say. A good teacher can really transform your life, not only your performance in a subject. Effort must be paid to study the faculty of the college concerned before your admission. Look at the facilities that are being offered at the college We have heard often, tell me of your friends, and I can tell who you are. The facilities in a college speak louder than anything else. Quantitative and qualitative amenities provided in an educational institution enable the students to perform much better and bring them close contact with world class institutions. Look at the co-curricular opportunities in the college Although, co-curricular activities are not the main focus of your studies, yet they play a very significant role in the life of young people. Co-curricular activities give you the opportunities to discover your other soft skills. There are times when you rely on

your secondary interests in making a living. Co-curricular opportunities make your personality pleasing and admirable. 9. Look the cost factor in the college No money, no education! The cost of your education plays very important role. Government educational institutions are always preferred when it comes to professional and higher education. One must check out the cost factor before the admission. It would advisable to not to enter into bank loans for your undergraduate studies. Private educational institutions are to be sought when they are known for quality in the particular field that you are looking for. 10. Look at your Capabilities When your interest, ability and available opportunities reach an equilibrium point, you are in a position to take up that particular field of education. Your interest should not be confused with passion and ability. Your capabilities must be assessed before admitting yourself for a course. Your inability to handle Maths should discourage you from such courses where Maths is main or given great importance. A reality test of your capabilities is a must for a win. By Fr.
