PRESS RELEASE MORARA News - EMO IMT MORARA MTC 250 Multimatic machine is a horizontal double-wheel-head units grinding center developed to combine ID-OD grinding operation simultaneously. The main advantage of this new grinding center is the presence of two opposite independent spindles that provide the ultimate in both output and quality. The new MTC 250 Multimatic foresees 1 external wheel with diameter up to 508 mm on the right side, and 1 unit with electro-spindles for internal grinding for typical operations of angular grinding and internal grinding simultaneously to allow obtaining the best concentricity between the OD and ID diameters. When high performances are required, two, three, four diameters per cycle can be ground in one clamping, or one high output can be ground OD and ID simultaneously. When flexibility is required, two different parts can be machined in sequence. Having the automatic swivelling turret with integrated Torque motor (option) able to contain up to four HF spindles for ID grinding the output and the flexibility in addition to the perfect finish of internal cylindrical diameters, grinding also surfaces and faces, satisfies the ever changing demands of today’s manufacture’s. The MTC Multimatic series is available in three sizes with swing of 250, 500 and 900 mm and is the tool used successfully in the areas of medium and large industries (automotive, textile, electrical appliances, wind power, precision engineering, etc.).

BASIC CONFIGURATION (without turret B- axis on internal wheel-head unit)

The internal wheel carriage hosts a turret where it is possible to place up to four high frequency spindles, with spindle diameter from 100 to 150 mm. The automatic swivelling of the CNC-controlled B-axis allows the combination of different grinding cycles in a single set-up, reducing the retooling time to quite zero: external and internal grinding, together with grinding of diameters, shoulders, threads, polygons and eccentrics.

CONFIGURATION with turret B- AXIS on internal wheel-head unit

COMBINED GRINDER FOR SIMULTANEOUS MACHINING OF BORES, SHOULDERS AND EXTERNAL DIAMETERS The internal grinding unit features two CNC controlled axes to perform several different processes: internal diameters and/or end-faces, plunge grinding with CNC-dressed wheels, etc. The solution is given by a crossshaped carriage with a turret up to four spindles, swivelling on a Torque motor. The external grinding unit features two CNC controlled grinding axes at an angle to each other. News are also in operative surface of the Tool Operator Package software. IMT Morara has presented important innovations concerning the machine software, as completion of the new machine configurations described above. New software modules specifically studied for grinding operations based on the interpolation within the "C"-axis and the main working axes “Xi” and “Zi”: Thread, Polygon and Eccentric. These new modules, perfectly integrated within T.O.P.- IMT’s platform, allow the operator to work on the machine always in a safe, simple, intuitive and easy way.

SOFTWARE FOR MENU GUIDED PROGRAM Interactive software TOP (Tool Operator Package) for automatic grinding cycles: rough, semifinish, finish and sparkout during plunge grind and traverse grind cycles. • Simplified and guided learning of the basic reference points X-Axis and Z-Axis to grind a workpiece. • Automatic dressing cycle with full compensation; Dress on demand at any moment during the cycle or every workpieces. • Trim keys for correction on every single diameter or total correction. •Storage of grinding programs and grinding wheel data.
