Prof. Lawrence R. Chalmer

Prof. Lawrence R. Chalmer is an international guest speaker for the US Departments of State and Defense. He worked in 14 NATO countries with media, academic communities, and government agencies discussing and advising on important international security issues. He is specializing in US - NATO and European policy, operational issues and international consensus building and has already led projects in most Eastern European countries. As former Deputy Director of the Center for

Transatlantic Security Studies, and former Director of NATO programs at the National Defense University, Washington, D.C., Professor Chalmer advised senior US and international policy makers as well as US and international organizations. In his lecture, Prof. Chalmer will talk about current issues NATO faces in light of the NATO Summit in September. He will elaborate on public opinion towards the Alliance in different countries, the challenges of international consensus building, and the interaction with media and government officials concerning complex policy goals. Involving the audience, Prof. Chalmer will also discuss aspects of the role of Germany in NATO, in Europe and internationally.
