Algunos países han perdido competitividad porque se han movido despacio, los países que lo están haciendo mejor son los que han tomado decisiones más rápidamente”. Según su criterio, en Europa estamos habituados a compararnos con situaciones pasadas y con otras regiones del mundo, como EEUU, una comparación inútil puesto que “vivimos en un universo diferente”. También mostró su confianza en que, “una vez cumplida la unión fiscal y económica, el futuro será más llevadero”, e insistió en la urgencia por recuperar la confianza. En su opinión, el vaso no está medio vacío, sino medio lleno, “el futuro no está decidido, depende de nosotros”, aunque “es vital implementar medidas para mejorar los desequilibrios en cuenta corriente y en los índices de competitividad”.

In his opinion, the glass is not half empty, but rather half full – “the future has not been decided; it depends on us”. However, “it is vital to implement measures to improve the imbalances in the current account and in competitive indexes”.
