Rules for behaviour and actions in case of disasters and accidents


Floods What do we have to know  You have to know the sources of water in area from which you can

expect flooding  The shortest and safest routes for evacuations  Do not throw away construction materials and household waste in the riverbeds and in the dry nullah, this decreases the flow capability of the riverbeds


What do we have to do in case of floods?  Turn off the gas and electricity as soon as possible  Go to the evacuation centre.  If the water level is raising very fast go to the upper floors of the

building or to the roof.  In case of heavy rainfall do not stay or go below bridges underpasses and otrher consructions.  In case of traveling is recommendable to wait until the rainfall stops.


Earthquake • When you feel the first quake • -Do not leave the building you are in, except if you can leave it for up •

to 10 seconds . Take the most secure place in the building you are in. - Near the inner wall - Next to a column - Under a stable table or bureau -Do not panic, after the first vibrations the quake will intestify, do not rush to the stairs or to the elevator If you are on the street, stay away from buildings and power lines. If you are driving during a quake, stop in a safe and open place and wait until the quake ends If you are in the public transport, wait in the vehicle until the quake stops


The actions you have to take after the initial quake • Go down the stairs and do NOT use the elevator • Grand advantage to the mothers with a child and the

elders

• After you leave the building go to the nearest open

space, far at least the height of the nearest building

• Do NOT stay under any power line • Provide first aid in case someone is injured


Thunder Storms • In case you are in the nature during a thunder storm, stay away

from high trees or big bare rocks

• If you have a dry, non-conductive object sit on it • Do NOT ride a bycycle during a thunder storm • Stay away from power lines with high voltage and make sure that

there is nothing that can conduct electricity

• Do not camp under any rocks that are unstable • If the storm suprices you in any water basin immediately leave

from the water


Actions taken in case of fire • Call 112 • Try to turn off the gas, electricity and the water if possible

• Do NOT use water to extinguish the fire if the source is gasoline • If you are blocked by the fire search for any natural paths or bare lawns

• If the is a source of water nearby use it to wet your clothes and your body • Cover the bare parts of your body, put a wet towel in front of the mouth and the nose

• Try to be lowered because the smoke is lighter than the air • If it’s a small fire try to extinguish it by yourself • Do not take off your clothes because they consume some of the heat
