Food Sovereignty “Food sovereignty is the right of

peoples to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through sustainable methods and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems.� - La Via Campesina



Food Pantry ● Available to all students ● Non-perishable proteins, vegetables and fruits ● Free coffee, tea and snacks


Calfresh Outreach Partnerships with: • Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services • HSU Financial Aid • HSU Dining services • Community Alliance with Family Farmers

Halloween Outreach Event -Students communicated: -frustration with eligibility documents (work-study, EOPS) -struggles with food insecurity, homelessness -positive response to seeing CalFresh banner


CR CalFresh Project 3 Part Mission to increase food security on CR’s campus includes: 1)

to increase campus awareness and empathy with student involvement

2)

to build collaboration and cohesion across campus departments

3)

to secure funding and a location for a Pantry to support healthy eating
