Increase your employability by going one step further: Our research on Employment Opportunities for graduates of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program tells us that students will need more skills in addition to the basic 130-hour CNA Certificate Program, in order to land a job. We are, therefore, expanding our CNA program to include this elective:

Elder Care Fundamentals – A CNA Enhancement This course will provide you with the additional skills needed to fulfill the requirements to land a job as a CNA. Students will learn: Effective Communication Skills when working with the elderly; how to work with Alzheimer and dementia patients and their families; issues of elderly abuse; death, dying and grief; Managing Conflict; “It’s Not My Job”-an inter-disciplinary approach to working as a team; 100+ activities to do with the Elderly. Students will be introduced to computer literacy and Emergency Healthcare Records to acquire the new skills required by the Certified Nursing Assistant.
