Medical & Health Emergency Medical Technician Certificate Program Become an Emergency Medical Technician and be a part of the most exciting division in healthcare services. Learn life-saving techniques and be a true hero in emergency situations. The EMT-Basic program will provide you with the necessary skills to administer emergency prehospital care in common situations such as heart attacks, strokes and automobile accidents. Emphasis is placed on recognizing the symptoms of illness and injury and the application of proper procedures for emergency care.

The curriculum follows the guidelines established by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, and includes Basic Life Saving (BLS) trauma care, medical/environmental operations and 7 practical exercises: patient assessment, airway management and oxygen administration, bleeding control and fracture management, traction splinting, spinal immobilization, shock management and defibrillation. Students will take the NYS Emergency Medical Services written examination on Thursday, June 19, 2014. Course fee includes textbooks and EMT Equipment Package. First Aid Certification Learn how to prevent injuries and provide emergency care for infants, children and adults with this American Red Cross certification program. CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers CPR/AED Course will include the basic techniques of adult and pediatrics CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator. Upon completion of this course, students receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED Course Completion Card that is valid for two years. Audience: Responders such as security personnel, health care professionals, teachers, parents, lifeguards, airline personnel, corporate employees, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other rescuers, and those who need or want to learn CPR and how to operate an AED.
