What is Circle K? “I was able to complete my community service requirement during my freshmen year, and I had a great time doing it with my friends!” -Kristen Fecteau ’17

Service Leadership Fellowship

Circle K International is the collegiate branch of Kiwanis International, a community-service based organization for adult men and women. There are over 550 Circle K clubs on campuses around the country. The three tenets of Circle K are service, leadership, and fellowship. We truly believe in developing leadership skills and building friendships through various acts of service. Circle K International is divided into districts, which is further divided into divisions, and finally divided into individual clubs. Our club is part of the Southern Tier Division of the New York District of Circle K International. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact an officer!

Project of the Month:

Youth Center By Alyssa Wilson ’17 Volunteering at the Youth Center has been an amazing opportunity. Not only am I able to interact with the wonderful people who run the program, but spending time with the kids is a rewarding experience for the volunteers as well as the youth. While we are at the Youth Center, volunteers help with homework, play games with the kids and do crafts. We start with homework when the kids first come in. The big rule is homework first, and then games. When homework is done, we all play card games or make little crafts. During dinner time, we get to sit and eat with the kids. Afterwards, there are plenty of games and crafts to keep everyone occupied. There’s never a dull moment at the Center, and every aspect of volunteering is a blast. My absolute favorite part is interacting with the kids. I love helping them do their homework when they are stuck and seeing their excitement when they win a game. The kids have so much fun at the Youth Center, and it’s amazing to be a part of their enjoyment. Personally, the Youth Center has given me a great opportunity to help in the community. Being involved is a big deal to me and being able to help local kids has been an incredible blessing. I had never had the chance to work with kids one-on-one like I am able to at the Youth Center. For those who do not already work with kids, I highly recommend it. You never realize how much of an impact you can make and how much of an impact volunteering with children can have on you. Volunteering at the Youth Center allows you to work on so many skills. You’re in a new environment, volunteering with other students you might not know, working with kids you’ve never met before, and yet you still have a wonderful time getting to know all of the great people at the Youth Center. I’m so glad that I have the opportunity to volunteer at the Youth Center. I can’t sing the Center’s praises enough and absolutely recommend that others check it out.
