A study done by Stanford Med and University of California Berkley concluded in 1989 that women with advanced breast cancer who received some type of emotional counseling lived about twice as long as those that did not. "The study was independent evidence that Dr. Simonton's whole body approach to battling the illness made a difference," said Dr. David Spiegel, a psychiatrist at Stanford University.
