DRIVE

Pocono Mountain Regional Emergency Medical Services “Subscribe for the Drive” invitation can be seen all around; now’s the time to clarify why signing up for the “Drive” is so important. to you and our nonprofit. Responding to nearly 6900 emergency calls shows an elevated need for our services. As call volume increases, so do operating costs which include building and vehicle maintenance, equipment purchases, and training classes for our medical professionals. To help offset these costs and continue to give the quality

of care you deserve, we turn to our community for help. While fundraising isn’t a new thing, we see it as an opportunity to not only subsidize operational expenses, but also cut costs for residents. Comprising nearly 10% of revenue sources, our annual Subscription Drive enables families to pay a fee of just $75 for emergency ambulance transport coverage June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022.

Introducing Lehigh Valley Hospital–Dickson City by Hannah Ropp · February 24, 2021

Today we celebrated a huge milestone in the construction of our first hospital in the Scranton region with the placement of one of the final beams in the steel structure. We marked the occasion with a virtual topping-off ceremony and the announcement of the hospital’s name, Lehigh Valley Hospital–Dickson City.

Virtual beam signing Our LVHN tradition of having those involved with the project sign one of the final beams was carried on. Colleagues who have been working on LVH–Dickson City were asked to virtually sign their name by submitting their signature, which was printed and placed on a steel beam. That beam was shown being placed in the structure on LVHN’s Facebook page. Vice President of Patient Care Services Maryann Cortese-Rubino MS, RN, BSN, and Chief Medical Officer of LVH–Pocono and LVH–Dickson City William Cors, MD, both spoke during the event.

Services and facilities LVH–Dickson City will open in spring 2022 and span more than 100,000 square feet. The hospital is physically connected to the building that serves as Coordinated Health Scranton Orthopedics. LVH–Dickson City will have an 18-bay emergency department and 24 private inpatient beds. There is also room for additional beds to be added in the future. Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence and Coordinated Health will bring nationally recognized quality surgical care to the region. Surgical and procedural programs that will be offered at this campus include spine, joint replacement, general orthopedic surgery, hand surgery, general surgery, ENT, urology, bariatric surgery and GI surgery.

Each year First Responders are struck and seriously injured or killed by motorists who fail to move over for an emergency vehicle. An emergency vehicle is any police, fire, ems, tow truck or road crew vehicle with their emergency lights flashing. Pennsylvania’s new Move Over Law goes into effect on April 27, 2021. Motorists are required to move into the adjacent lane. If you are unable to do that safely, then you are required to slow down to no more than 20 mph less than the posted speed limit. A motorist will be subject to the following fines if they fail to obey the law: - 1st offense = $500 - 2nd offense = $1,000 - 3rd or subsequent offense = $2,000 - 2 points on driver’s license - Enhanced penalties for causing bodily injury or death Disabled vehicles shall use at least two of the following: - Hazard lights - Caution sign or other traffic control device - Road flares Help our first responders go home to their families safely, by slowing down and moving over. Thank you. Move Over: It’s the Law is a PennDOT funded project

Our community needs

YOU TO BE SAFE! We are facing increases in the number of people contracting COVID-19. If not slowed, our workforce and our families will be seriously impacted. We can get through this together, but we must be safe for ourselves and for others.
