1190 ADVENTURE POWERTRAIN – SUPERIOR THROUGH HIGH TECH The potent V2 engine with 1195 cc of displacement stems from the KTM Superbike 1190 RC8 R, delivering everything a top-class travel enduro needs: lots of low-end torque for off-road riding, lots of punch for touring at full payload, and 150 hp power for crunch time. Sophisticated technology helps adapt the Superbike twin to its new mission in the Adventure: the dual ignition lowers fuel consumption and emissions while ensuring refinement at low engine speeds, the drive-by-wire ensures a perfect delivery of the ample torque, and the Motorcycle Traction Control MTC provides dynamic, yet fully controlled traction on every surface and in every situation.

MTC can be switched off and has four different riding modes, allowing different degrees of slippage at the flick of a switch on the left handlebar: absolute control through minimal slippage in “rain” mode, smooth slippage in “street” mode, controlled rear wheel spin in “sport” mode and 100% slippage for committed off-road riding, as soon as the switch is set to “off-road”. A yellow LED on the brand new VDO multifunctional display starts flashing whenever the traction control engages. In addition, a new anti-hopping clutch eliminates annoying rear-wheel chatter under heavy braking while at the same time lowering manual clutch force. This makes the 1190 Adventure

not just lighter, more powerful and more predictable than ever: thanks to an increased mileage, a 23 litre tank and longer service intervals up to 15,000 km, it also needs to stop less often.

CHASSIS – KEEPING AHEAD THROUGH PERFECTION It goes without saying that the latest Adventure generation leaves nothing to be desired in stability and predictability, thanks to its ultra-light but extremely strong trellis frame, the high-strength die-cast swing arm and the top quality suspension components by WP Suspension. Smaller wheels – 19 inch front, 17 inch rear – wider tires and a slightly shorter travel suspension optimize the talents of the latest 1190 Adventure on asphalt. And the fully adjustable suspension ensures that you neither have to forego top comfort when calmly touring nor accept a bouncing rear end when scorching down the twisties. is provided by the optional Electronic Damping System EDS: a switch on the handlebar, depending on the bike load lets the rider choose between four levels of spring preload as well as three corresponding damper settings (Comfort, Street, Sport). In addition, the standard combined antilock braking system C-ABS means that on the new Adventure models, you are prepared for any eventuality. On one hand, it automatically deploys the rear brake whenever the front brake is used, optimizing braking stability. On the other, C-ABS can not just be switched off but also has an off-road

mode that allows to lock up the rear wheel – a decisive advantage in cross-country riding. Finally, the optional tire pressure measurement system TPMS warns the rider in case of pressure loss, while class-leading ergonomics mean riders of every size are comfortable on the new 1190 Adventure: seat height, handlebars, foot pegs and windshield are all adjustable.
