DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

PANAMA

CHILE

MÉXICO

In 2013, the Dominican Republic ranked as the 52nd largest of goods imported to the U.S. Its exports amounted to $4.3 billion for that same year. The five largest categories are optical and medical instruments ($722 million), tobacco ($496 million), raw beet and cane sugar ($56 million), knit apparel ($373 million), and precious stones such as jewelry ($358 million).

Most people would assume that Colombia’s top exported good is coffee. In reality, coffee exports ranks number four ($1 billion). The top three exports are oil ($9.2 billion), gems—precious metals ($1.2 billion), and live trees and plants ($1 billion). 26.3% of Colombia’s overall exports go to the U.S.

Panama’s exports to the U.S. are about $161.8 million or 20.5% of its overall exports. Fish ranks number one ($93.5 million) of its goods exported followed by sugar ($21 million), and coffee ($10 million). No, Panama’s main exported good is not the Panama Hat.

With its growing economy, it is no surprise Chile made the list. About 11.8% of Chile’s overall exports go to the U.S. Its top exported goods are copper ($2.1 billion), fish ($1.4 billion), fruits and nuts ($1.3 billion).

Mexico’s exports to the U.S. average to $319.3 billion or 80.3% of its overall exports. The top exported goods are vehicles ($70.2 billion); machines, engines, and pumps ($52.7 billion), and vegetables ($5.2 billion).
