It is still vital that we have accurate emergency contact information for you because in the event of an accident or illness during the event this information can be accessed electronically by the event team and will be useful to our medical team.
Your running pack will contain: Your Running Number (& safety pins to attach it to your running top) This is your running number and it must not be altered in any way. It must not be used by anyone else but you. Fasten your running number securely to the front of your running top. We use this to accurately record your results and identify you crossing the line so your running number needs to be visible at all times.
Your Timing Chip Your timing chip will be attached to the back of your running number. Please pin your running number to the front of your top. Always keep the running number visible; do not remove or cover with a jacket. Do not excessively bend or twist the running number.
In the event that you are involved in a serious medical incident we will contact the emergency contact specified on your My Details account so please can you log on to My Details at www.mens10K.com and make sure that these details are up to date before the event.
Important! Please read all the information contained within this booklet. It is a vital part of your race preparation. If you entered the event on or before Wednesday 14th October your running pack will be posted to you. Posted running packs will arrive by Friday 30th October. If you have not received your pack by this time you do not need to contact us but please visit the Help Desk team at the Start area at Lawnmarket from 8:30am on race day where you can pick up a replacement pack. If you entered the event after Wednesday 14th October your running pack will be available to pick up from the Help Desk at the Start area at Lawnmarket from 8:30am on race day.

Our start area at Lawnmarket means that we are surrounded by residents who, unlike all you dedicated guys, may like to have a peaceful Sunday morning in bed! As such, the volume of announcements in the start area will be kept to minimum volume. There will be signage to direct you and marshals ready to assist you, so if you have any questions just ask. There will be plenty of noise at BT Murrayfield Stadium as you finish!

THE ROUTE
The Men’s 10K is a road run over a measured distance of 10km. A run of this distance is a serious physical undertaking and should only be undertaken after doing the appropriate level of training. If you are under prepared, unwell or injured you should seriously consider seeking medical advice as to whether you should take part. Due to us closing roads for the event there is a time limit for the course of 2 hours, which is approximately 12 minutes per kilometer or 19 minutes per mile. If you are slower than this pace you have two options. Option 1: The sweep vehicle will be travelling at the slowest pace of 19 minutes per mile. If you are falling behind this pace and you don’t want to continue the run you will be able to board the sweep vehicle and there will be first aiders on hand to help if you need it.
St
Option 2: If you wish to continue then you will be asked to move to the pavement and proceed using pedestrian crossings and pavements. The roads will reopen so you will no longer be able to continue on the road. If you make the decision to continue then it will be at your own risk, marshals, hydration stations and finish timing may not be available for you if you continue to fall out with the course time limit.

There will be 1 hydration station positioned on course. We want to ensure the event has a minimum impact on the local environment. There are bottles of water for all the runners on course - this can result in a lot of litter! Litter bins will be situated near the hydration station where we ask you to drop your bottles rather than discarding them along the course.
