EDITOR S L E T T E R A ritual of regeneration prefigures the rebirth of a new cycle. Whilst our previous issue marked the closing of one chapter, this issue symbolises a rite of passage; a ritual of liminality, regeneration and purification, before stepping over the threshold and into new territories. Rituals are a vast and complex subject matter, oscillating from religion to mystic powers, spiritualism and esoteric enlightenment. Through our fashion editorials, we attempt to portray our own visual interpretation of ritualism, inspired from diverse ritual practices, such as medieval funerals and black magic ceremonies. The forthcoming spring fashion trends and this season’s transitional wardrobe become infused with our magazine’s dark aesthetic and intertwined into our ritualistic vision. This issue’s design section features ‘Jollypop’; a modern twist on the classic lollipop candy combining both design and flavour profiles suitable to the current eating trends. The spotlight of our art section is focused on ‘Frictions’, a collaborative contemporary exhibition where spatially overlapping installations discuss the vital relationship between man and his surroundings. IMMERS I O N The darkness and mystery surrounding the subject of witchcraft rituals provided the main inspiration behind our fashion story. Considering its metaphysical nature, the ritual calls for the use of symbols to represent and convey its meaning and purpose into the physical world. Mystical symbols and religious connotations are fused together to construct the concept of an immersion ritual, which is conveyed through a primarily black and white colour palette. Monochrome ensembles combined with textural mix are a major trend for the forthcoming spring, while layering mixed proportion pieces is ideal for this transitional season in fashion.

L U S T R A T I O N Purification rituals that date from early medieval times are the prominent theme that emerges from our male fashion editorial. The concept of the purification ritual is one of spiritual sacrifice, where all impurities, body and soul, become consecrated. Similar to the physical purification of a dead body prior to the burial, esoteric purification is the ritual washing and cleansing of the soul, its purging from all evil. We were inspired to create an unconventional, visual contrast between sportswear and tailoring paired with some of the most covetable accessories of the season. The collaboration of Rick Owens and Adidas is one of the greatest examples of successful fuse of sportswear and high fashion. Ceremonial rituals that provide entry to spiritual realms inspired our visual narrative, which begins with the casting of the sacred circle; a place between worlds where contact with gods and spirits becomes possible. The circle represents a portable temple, within which both space and participant are consecrated. When she enters the sacred ground, the young witch is ritually cleansed and becomes a vessel of magical energy – a vessel of transcendent power. This mystical ritual act that appears both powerful and fragile at the same time, is further explored through a visual metaphor, with the ritual’s surroundings engulfed in a protective layer of nylon. Through this story, we focus on the ankle length silhouette that was celebrated on the spring runways, paired with sportswear and workwear elements. STYLING MODEL HAIR

FRICTIONS is an exhibition in a 2000 cubic metre industrial hall, where spatially overlapping installations discuss the relationship between man and surroundings. A friction field of thoughts and works. Ina, Katrine, Lasse, Elias and Johna have started a cooperation through a series of exhibitions in which they hope to open up for reflection and debate on the subject. Their first collaboration was in Forum OUTSIDE in November, which was an investigation of the forest as an outdoor space.
