Gravis Skateboarding manufactures shoes that protect our riders most valuable assets‌. their feet. One more foot saved from heel bruising, one foot that looks great in shoes built with unique materials, colors and design lines. In this press book you will discover our latest product collection. Every shoe is the brainchild of our global skate team from our heads to their feet.

introducing the new

Higher than low and lower than high…we introduce the quarter top. The Quarter LX blends technology with simplicity. The upper is materialized in our traditional waxed canvas for style and durability. Step into a bit of heaven with the Cloud 9 foot bed and feel the grip with a new herringbone textured foxing tape and outsole tread.

cloud 9 Our PU footbed is the foundation of comfort in our vulcanized shoes. Cloud 9 works as a suspension system for you feet. It has great shock absorption, is comfortable, flexy and promotes board feel.

Hartsel talks about his artwork on the CLOUD 9 footbed. Tell us a little about yourself and what you’ve been up to recently. I live, create, own and operate two brands out of Honolulu... one is called POETREE™, a t-shirt brand. And most recently, EZ RYDER ORIGINALZ... a custom “retro-type” skateboard completes company with Dogtown skatelegend, Jay Adams. I’m a skateboarder, a way finder, a liver of life... a husband and a father. I love many forms of art, design, music, film, foods, culture, faiths... peoples and traveling. What’s your ties to Gravis? Skateboarding! Along with my life-time ties & connection with Gravis-Skate’s brand director, Mark Oblow. You guy’s have been hooking me up with the best gear & skate shoes since the beginning... it’s the raddest! I’m very thankful and feel very honored to be working with everyone. What’s the story behind the project? For years now, whenever Moblow comes home to da’ islands, which is pretty frequent... we’ve always skated, or collab’d together on art, music or making fotos. During one of his visits he had expressed to me the idea of creating something with Gravis. He connected me with Gravis’ design director Kelly Kikuta, and it was his idea to have me work on the FILTER DURO footbed characters of Arto Saari, Dylan Rieder, Sammy Winter & Jake Johnson. What was your inspiration on each illustration? Fortunately, I’ve gotten to know Dylan & Arto over the years from just skating together here in Hawaii. In fact when I first began working on the sketches for this project, both Arto & Dylan happened to be here in Honolulu. I remember drawing the first sketches of their characters after skating all day and having dinner with them. The timing was right and they’re both pretty damn inspiring guy’s to be around. I love’m like brothers! I still haven’t met Sammy or Jake in person so I mostly went off of their foto and info that i received from Kelly and Moblow. I know Jake gets down on his skate and is a real beast out east... and I’ve already been a fan of Sammy ever since first reading an interview with him in a skate mag from OZ. All of these dudes are RAD... 100% Skateboarders! What do you think of the end product? Well, Moblow... Arto, Dylan... and Stefan was just here in Hawaii last week. I got to see the new Filter “Duro” shoe sample & some of the footbeds and I’m very stoked on how everything turned out. I’m looking forward to seeing these worldwide in the skate shops and on skaters’ feet! When’s the next Jef Hartsel x Gravis collab? Hopefully very soon... the wheels are still spinning, the ideas & possibilities are many! It would be cool to design & work on a functional skate+shoe travel & storage bag... something that all skateboarders everywhere could use in their LIFE!
