184 Days Remain in 2023

It’s July Can you believe just 178 days until Christmas? Just 184 more days until year end (at the time of writing this article) It is amazing how much faster each year seems to move as we get older, and more involved.

Remember the New Year’s resolutions you might have made in January. You still have time to make them happen For the Grapevine Chamber, as I write this, we have 184 more days to complete the goals that your Board set out to accomplish at our Board Retreat At times, all of the things we need to do seems overwhelming, and as the “to do” list on my desk gets longer, it just feels like we will never get caught up, and never get to where we want to be.

But then, you take the time to look back at all of

the items on the list that have been accomplished

You realize that with the help of wonderful staff, awesome chamber members, great Board members, friends and others who serve, you not only have completed several goals, but you also have the opportunity to, if not finish everything you started, perhaps at least do enough to make a difference. It is just one day at a time, one item at a time, one goal at a time. It is being thankful for the opportunity to work with great people, to be able to create goals that make a difference, and to enjoy the life we are given

It’s July A month to be thankful for the Declaration of Independence For the freedoms provided to us by those who wrote the words, believed in the words and pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to sign that single document. It was a document that cost most of them their lives and their families. It is in their honor that we should set our own goals, work to make a difference in our community and country, and appreciate those who came before us, those who walk with us, and those who will follow

Grapevine Parks & Rec launches new environmental initiative promoting cleaner communities

Grapevine Parks & Recreation is thrilled to announce the launch of its new social media and department-wide campaign, “Litter Ends With Us!” The initiative began on May 30, and aims to raise awareness among city residents and visitors, encouraging them to take responsibility for maintaining a clean and litter-free environment

Grapevine Parks & Recreation’s department has taken the initiative to lead by example by initiating a department wide clean-up throughout our parks after busy holiday weekends like Memorial Day, and is urging citizens to actively participate in picking up trash when they encounter it to make a positive impact on the city’s cleanliness

“The primary objective is to spread the message across the community that if we all take responsibility everyday it will make a big impact to the cleanliness in the City of Grapevine,” said Chris Smith, Grapevine Parks & Recreation Director.

To encourage active participation, Grapevine Parks & Recreation will organize a giveaway of campaign-themed shirts. Participants will be incentivized to pick up trash, take pictures, and tag Grapevine Parks & Recreation in their social media posts. The giveaway will run throughout the months of June and July. During this period, Grapevine Parks & Recreation will proactively conduct internal staff-wide clean-ups, while also organizing city-wide clean up initiatives.

Grapevine Parks & Recreation encourages everyone to join in this collective endeavor and take part in keeping our community clean and beautiful. Together, we can make a lasting difference!
